nicko Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Just seen they got beaten at Bradford 2 - 1. Fire away with the excuses nicko None needed. Didn't play well. Short of couple of key faces, just to confirm the need for a couple more signings. I think you will be singing a similar tune shortly.

Ritchie Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Thank you Ritchie for that wonderful post. Truly entertaining and enlightening, an absolute joy to read. We're undoubtedly lucky to have someone of your intellect as a BRFCS member. Thanks Ritchie. I look forward to reading more of your insightful wisdom soon. No, I jest. Why don't you take your cretinous remarks and do one? Thanks, Bobby. Your reaction is similar to a cricket fan throwing his toys out of the pram because his favourite batsman had his middle wicket taken out of the ground. Pop some Motorhead on and just let the rage run wild. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Old rule of football- A good pre-season means nothing, a poor pre-season usually means trouble. Remember last season,s pre-season anybody ?
Al Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Thanks, Bobby. Your reaction is similar to a cricket fan throwing his toys out of the pram because his favourite batsman had his middle wicket taken out of the ground. Pop some Motorhead on and just let the rage run wild. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Don't worry Bob. He's been a member for two minutes and is already going out of his way to antagonise everyone. The ban will inevitably take place very soon. The sooner the better.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Preseason is all about building up fitness levels in my opinion, perhaps towards the end you will look to build up some form going into the new season.
1864roverite Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Aye we're fecked. Everton are too, they lost 2-1 at Bury last night. I look forward to your 100% preseason record. Just needed something to make me smile after watching the dire attempts of our bowlers added with awful batting and yet another cock up by doctrove the umpire. Burnley's result provided the starter, Budweiser will provide the liquid with a nice Spag Bol main course

Billinge End Blue Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 To be fair to iamarover, AW - to the end, a true modest Blackburn Rovers supporter not some antagonistic know-all - had been in Kendal a fair while when he thought about the resting place of his mortal remains so may have confused the rivers whose confluence lies a mile away near the entrance to Witton Park. Haystacks and its Innominate Tarn in the Lakes was always a contender but in spite of all the high places he treasured, we know that his heart was always at Ewood Park and his honest and curmudgeonly spirit still haunts the cinder tracks of yore.
iamarover Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Another crap post from the board's connoisseur of self-indulgent waffle. Hard man. Funny how toss pots get more lippy the further the Internet shields their sneering faces. Pounding away in a frustration in their bedrooms its not often they move from abuse to self to abuse to others. Just evidently not good at the latter but only good at the former.
yorkyclaret Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Just been to the airport, meeting people on the Saltsberg flight, first Alan Irvine and a few nob enders came through then a load of your lot came through and all congregated round me, don't know if it was the first team squad as I didn't recognise any, they all had track suits on, I am terrible with faces at the best of times and don't look at your lot that closely.
cletus Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Pounding away in a frustration in their bedrooms.... oo-errr missus!!

I did say 'apologies' as the original rightly, as you point out, is of Haystacks.
Fife Rover Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Fife, did you get reply to your PM? Yes; thanks for that. I did intend to send a further one, but have not got round to it as yet. Will try tomorrow.

You seem to be rather flustered. Chill out, lad, and don't take yourself so seriously.
iamarover Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 You seem to be rather flustered. Chill out, lad, and don't take yourself so seriously. Being simultaneously patronising and master of the bations in two posts is an achievement of some sorts. I think you have reached your summit. Do us all a favour and retire.
The Prof. Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I said last season - and got howled at - that the return of your chums would put a real buzz around the whole area. Like it or not they will sell out their ground for most games and take shedloads away. There are now NINE Premier League clubs in the old Granada TV area. It means your club and fans will respond so that they are not seen as being rivals and competitors. More of your people may turn up. Tell me what's wrong with that? And, by the way, the people who run it are good football people...at all levels. There are a lot worse who could be in the Premier League than them...and few better. A shedload of manure is still manure Nicko!
bob fleming Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Your reaction is similar to a cricket fan throwing his toys out of the pram because his favourite batsman had his middle wicket taken out of the ground. Pop some Motorhead on and just let the rage run wild. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Surprisingly, good thinking. "Shut up, you talk too loud, You don't fit in with the crowd, I can't believe you exist, I've crossed you right off my list, Too much, too soon, You're way out of tune, No Class." That's better. Now then, let's get back on track. A meaningless pre season defeat for "our neighbours" yesterday then, picked up on by Sky Sports News. And so it begins. 2009/10 season:- abject, high profile misery week in week out. Are you really sure this promotion thing was a good idea?
philipl Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 A quick diversion from the fun on here with a seriously depressing thought. This is the lucky year for the dingles to be promoted if ever there was one. There are certainly three clubs worse than them if not four in this season's PL: Hull City- got to 28 points before Christmas and did a Derby for the rest of the season. I cannot see them being anything but whipping boys this season and the way their transfer activity is going, most footballers think so too. Wolves- got money, buying crud. Portsmouth- might not enter the new season in administration but the Axe is their star signing whilst they have lost eight from their squad (mostly contract-expired) and are about to lose Crouch as well. Take over "at least a month away" and so is transfer deadline day. Wigan- I like Martinez but he's taken over a club that has lost its best players and about to lose Cattermole as well. Good as the Swansea players are, they are not adequate replacements for what is going/gone.

Agreed Philip, on the face of it it looks like Hull and Pompey will prop the table up, with Wolves, Wigan, Burnley and Birmingham fighting to avoid that final spot. If we don't get a new striker in I fear we might be added to that second group.
philipl Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Even now, we have the same players available who produced a top ten performance over the last 20 games of last season with the exceptions of Tugay retired and Ooijer back to PSV. Plus Dunn, Reid, Emerton, Elrio, N'Zonzi, Jacobsen and Hoilett. and a bit of spending money as yet unspent. I have almost no fear for Rovers for next season under Allardyce- we should be clear of the squeaky bum stuff this time even if we sign Kenwyne Jones.
Al Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Being simultaneously patronising and master of the bations in two posts is an achievement of some sorts. I think you have reached your summit. Do us all a favour and retire. Yes in a matter of a couple of weeks he has become more irritating than West Sussex Rover and Vinjay rolled into one. I've decided to retire him myself. He is on ignore until the mods see fit to ban him.

And so it begins. 2009/10 season:- abject, high profile misery week in week out. Are you really sure this promotion thing was a good idea? That's the spirit, matey. As for your last point, I mentioned before that pre-season is all about building up match-fitness. Nothing else. Promotion has been fantastic for the town of Burnley. To suggest otherwise smacks of bitterness really.
longsiders1882 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Busted! news shock- longsiders1882 outed in "armchair fan revelation". (but i bet you went to wemb-er-lee though hey? ) Hardly - I've not bought a season ticket for the last 3 seasons. A combination of the Cotterball and the club giving up in January led me to decide I'd keep my option for giving in January open as well. I still went to nearly every game until last season when I should have bought a season ticket but the business was already struggling by then and I decided it would not be prudent. As for how do you watch the games - you never heard of match of the day? I've had a basic sky package with kids channels and only added sports for the play offs - but I'm keeping it on for next season as well now. Now I'm not sure how numbers add up in Blackburn but where I'm from £11.00 (the cost of Sky sports) x 9 (approx months in a season) comes to £99.00. Cost of a season ticket £462.00. the riverside exits are on either side, with the main way outs along the front of the stand- its the only reason you see it, rather than more modern stands whose concourses take people under them. and no longsiders, the seasons before Jack took us up in 1992 didnt average 7k. try looking it up. it might suprise you. If you know what they were why not let us all know?
braddock Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I can't stop smiling at what's probably gonna happen to Burnley next season
