Backroom Tom Posted August 19, 2009 Backroom Posted August 19, 2009 It was a great strike and any keeper would have struggled but on that point does anyone else thinks Foster looks poor, looks nervous everytime a ball comes near him

67splitscreen Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 not many keepers around the globe would have stopped that shot Thats very true but Salgado would have made a diving header to clear it off the line.
Hughesy Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Burnley will beat us in one of the two, mark my words. They get up for the big games, don't know if we will. Feel sick In the words of Dunny 'Will they fook'. Get a grip of yourself. Get a grip of yourself man. We'll not have such defeatist talk. It's all very well them beating Man Utd. We are Blackburn Rovers and when we play them it's something quite different. Spot on bob - They have 1 good result and we have 20 people on suicide watch! United simply underestimated them and also played poor. Owen is awful still, and they are missing a top midfielder. Fair play to them, let them have their minute of glory - its a long old season so lets not giddy about 1 good result for them!
Al Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I'm finding this result hard to reconcile. It's like winning the lottery and finding your worst enemy has the same six numbers on two lines.
grizfoot Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I always find joy out of Man United getting beat and tonight's game was no different. Also this result will give The Dingles belief which mean it will hurt an awful lot more when they come back down to earth with their next couple of defeats.
67splitscreen Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 With the problems Everton have at the moment, there may well be another upset just around the corner.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Just seen it on Match of the Day - you don't stop those, and then they held on well against an off-colour United. Jensen had one of those games where you could play for ten hours and not beat him. 10-15 more games like that and they could have a Hull-style second half of the season and still stay up comfortably.
dj54nna Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Is the gap closing or has it closed? We'll find out at the end of the season.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 It could be opening up in the wrong direction at this rate.
rovers1995 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 We played really well at the weekend and they have played two games opposed to our one. How is the gap opening in the opposite direction. Don't be stupid
Fylde Coast Fan Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 We played really well at the weekend and they have played two games opposed to our one. How is the gap opening in the opposite direction. Don't be stupid We did alright on Saturday, "really well" would have been a win. We don't have any pace in midfield, creativity anywhere on the park, or a proven goalscorer. If Kalinic can't produce, Burnley have a real chance of finishing above us this season.
Hughesy Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Biggest league game for 33 years - 20,872 attendance - Pathetic!!
micktheblue Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Well I just watched it on TV. I would have loved to see Burnley fall flat on their faces, and expected that too. However to be honest they held United fair and square, and it wasn't as if United played their youngsters either......
old darwen blue Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Having just watched the highlights on football first I must say that well done to the dingles for doing the job against a very poor united but things will be very different when we play them. As another poster mentioned earlier I think that they are a bit of a surprise package and teams will expect just to turn up to be able to get a result. We wont make that mistake that is for sure under Sam Allardyce as he knows the history between the clubs. Have no fear fellow disciples normal matters will be resumed very shortly.
Blue n White Rover Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Just a reminder to all Burnley fans, Wolves beat them a few seasons ago with a Kenny Miller strike, now remind me where they ended up that season? You only get 3 points, no bonus points if it's United.
Tango Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Man United were absolutely dire - Owen is about as much a Premier League centre forward these days as I am Anneka Rice, but take nothing away from Burnley it's a super result for them. In the long run I think they'll lack the quality or strength in depth to stay up, but they deserve their moment in the spotlight with that performance.

colin Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Biggest league game for 33 years - 20,872 attendance - Pathetic!! Bit unfair Hughesy, Official capacity 22,500. Take off the press & the VIPs and it was probably a sell out. What was our gate v City?
CaliRoverNYC Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Its one match lads, Much like our victory away to Everton was one match last year. It doesn't tell the whole story and it won't tell the whole story.
dj54nna Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Biggest league game for 33 years - 20,872 attendance - Pathetic!! Partying on the streets of Burnley, celebrating their win. 12 injured, three dead.
Backroom Tom Posted August 20, 2009 Backroom Posted August 20, 2009 Seriously? Hope that aint true, shocking if so
dj54nna Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Seriously? Hope that aint true, shocking if so A joke. Referring to Burnley fans habit of rioting through the town, regardless of winning or losing...
Olveres Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Wasn't it around this time last season that Hull beat Arsenal having just drawn with us? Didn't Man U also start last season off like relegation candidates? Hmm let me see, Hull went on to glory and Man U achieved nothing. Ooops, wrong way round. If anything's already glaringly obvious, Man U are going to miss Ronaldo.
