Mr. E Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Burnley marching ahead, while we can't get a break. This season keeps on getting better and better.

Fife Rover Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 We MUST beat West Ham And Aston Villa and any others that we have to play that wear claret and blue, but none more so than the original "auld enemy" the Dingles. Bring it on!!!
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Come on Sam Dingle et al let us have it!!.........................
Exiled in Toronto Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 You can't continually give away possession to teams in the Prem and not struggle. We should know
Kelbo Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Let Rudolf have his day, he who laughs last????? They will not continue to get so much good fortune!!! at the end of the day, class will tell!!
Sir Ranulf Westwood Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 by the time we play you lot, we'll be so far ahead that the result won't mater to us, however should be another easy three for us.
longsiders1882 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I'll be honest, I thought the most realistic preditction would be to have 1 point from Stoke by the time we played Sunderland at home so you can imagine I am cock a hoop at the moment. Not sure it is entirely fair to say it is all luck - with better luck the penalty would never have been given today, was it Wade Elliots strike luck? Was Robbie Blakes? Indeed was it luck our keeper saved Carricks penalty - he does after all have a decent record on penalty saves. Possesion is great if you do something with it but other than the last 10/15 minutes today Everton applied very little pressure and paid the price. With our circa 40% possesion we have managed to do the thing that matters, score. We have also played some decent football when we have had the ball. Someone once said it is better to be a lucky manager than a good one - In Coyle we seem to have a good, lucky manager. Still no prosect of anything other than 2 mullerings in our next fixtures but I would have bitten your hand off had I been offered this before a ball was kicked.
Big Fat Sam Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Lets just hope you don't draw Leeds in the Carling cup. Have your moment in the sun, but until you do: How many years since you beat Rovers???? When was the last time you won a competition??? And paper crosswords don't count.
ABBEY Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 by the time we play you lot, we'll be so far ahead that the result won't mater to us, however should be another easy three for us. DONT TALK LIKE A SEPTIC TIT!!!!
Clitherover Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 by the time we play you lot, we'll be so far ahead that the result won't mater to us, however should be another easy three for us. You've played two absolutely abysmal sides and managed to scrape a win from each. Again a very good goal has been scored that easily could have gone in the stands on another day. To give some credit, defensively they did well and when they had the ball they were better than in the United game. If Burnley's game-plan to score a goal of the month contender against out of form sides works every week, then you will win the league, the european cup and a collective knighthood from the queen. Good luck with that
S15 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Conrats Burnley, another cracking win, and 6 bonus points really as these are two games you would have expected to lose. Not gonna get involved in some of the embarrassing sledging, the harsh reality is, at this moment in time, Burnley are better than us. Same thing happened at the start of the 2000/2001 season, many people forget we were behind them in the league when we went there in December. We need to make sure the same thing happens this season.
CrazyIvan Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Bet you wish the gap was closing now. It's funny, I've read this thread and not posted at all recently on here. Well done to Burnley for winning their first two home games. Credit where credit is due, two wins over two established relatively successful teams. The 'but' is this, it's very early in this season. If you are still in the top ten at game 38 then it will have been an exceptional season for you but don't gloat yet. There's no point in rubbing our noses in it now. You can do it if you beat us and if you finish above us but don't bother now because you just look stupid.
cletus Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Bet you wish the gap was closing now. 30 years & counting.......
Ninjathunder Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Well done to them. Despite our rivalry, I find their "country bumpkin sticks two fingers up to the bloated Premier League" story a breath of fresh air. We'll sort ourselves out.
67splitscreen Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Hull Mk. 2 at best. they do seem to be surprising just more than a few if we are honest.

Good luck with that You might wish to check out our goals against Reading and Sheff Utd in the play offs - indeed look up some of Wade Elliots and Robbie Blakes for Burnley - they do seem to have the kind of luck they can replicate time and time again. And at the risk of stating the obvious, to go along with our 'wonder goals' we also collected 2 clean sheets. In terms of not gloating yet, I agree. Its a long hard season and there will be more of these results that go against us than for us. Then again its been a long time since we had such days in the Sun. The mantra on here of 30 years and counting is testimony to that. Maybe, just maybe it is not surprising that we are feeling a little happy, having despatched 2 of last seasons top 5 empty handed. No honest Burnley fan expects to be top 10 come the end of the season, in fact most would be delighted with anything above bottom 3.

I love your posts Rudolf, the sleigh you graciously pull full of the gifts you are recieving now, will not last forever!!
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 DONT TALK LIKE A SEPTIC TIT!!!! Why let Ranoff get to you,you know he's just having his half season in the sun. Longsider has an engaging opinion to offer.
Moorey Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 It's what they did in the play offs. Yet some people would have you believe they did it by playing attractive football. At the moment they're getting lucky with the opposition missing chances and Penalties. You can't continually give away possession to teams in the Prem and not struggle. We do play attractive football, but we're playing against teams with better individual players than ours. There's no way we're going to out-do Man U for possesion and Everton aren't light on technically gifted players in midfield, despite their style. We also let Everton have a lot of ball in their half. We put some good moves together today and might have been more than one up in the first half.
American Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Hopefully this will breed overconfidence and sticking to the wage structure for the rest of the window. Can't go this long without injuries, they are bound to crop up at some point soon.
OhmiBRFC Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I'm bored of the incessant Dingle bile. You've been in our shadows for thirty three years. Three games doesn't mean ANYTHING. Our quality will prevail. Remember girls, form is temporary & class is forever.
SamDingle Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 You've been in our shadows for thirty three years. Three games doesn't mean ANYTHING. Nah. If you look at the table, it's the thirty three years which doesn't mean anything. The three games are all that count now. Points.. then goal difference.. then goals scored. What you did last year, 10 years ago or 33 years ago won't be much use. Your time's up. Move along.
