CAPT KAYOS Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 To be fair UM - Digs and banter apart - why should the fans be restricted to going on the coaches and the + how many wasted hours journey for a paltry travelling distance? As SD has stated he has points etc as part of their scheme so should have no problem getting a ticket - so obviously has history with the club which I doubt he want's to jeopardise regardless. Like him or lump him - if he can prove his genuine history /id and has no previous then to me there has to be leeway surely? It was (still is ticket pending) my intention of going under my own steam for the corresponding fixture at their ground.

Paul Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 It actually stopped being funny 4 weeks ago, that's now the funny thing you see, you lot being so slow. Why the hell don't you go on the bus as requested by both clubs? Also, which has been made very clear, your ticket will be on your coach so you will find it extremely difficult getting anywhere near the ground never mind on it!!! And what route are you planning to take? The M65 will be closed, the back roads will be heavily policed or failing that you could set off really early in the morning to beat the road blocks and sit in your car in lower Darwen all morning. That will be far more fun than going on the coach with all your mates. You sound like just another mindless idiot causing unnecessary obstruction to the police, both clubs and most of all the fans who will be adhering to the requests of all parties to ensure an enjoyable day by all. Another hundred or so of pricks like yourself and there will be carnage at all the M65 exits and the back roads through Accy and Ossy. I'll look forward to seeing you in your upturned dinglemobile on the mini roundabout at Lower Darwen. I read the link earlier in this thread, first time I've read a Burnely MB. Seemed to me like a reasonable bunch of people..............sadly the same can't be said about members posting this stuff on here
Ricky Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 pardon!!! sounds like I was 95% correct if you read my original post Your first pos said they were having he whole of the upper and half if the lower. I didn't see how this would be possible. You also spoke about the turnstiles being reconfigured to allow it. What has actually happened is the common sense approach that I hoped the club would take, 3000 dingles and not the 4500-5000 indicated in your first post when you clearly stated they were having the while upper and half of the lower. You also mocked samdingle for even suggesting you mitt be wrong by saying you'd be proved right when the Details were released, all I'm saying is that you were proved wrong in regard to the most important factor ie the number of away fans being allowed into ewood for that game.

It was (still is ticket pending) my intention of going under my own steam for the corresponding fixture at their ground. I just don't see the point of stretching resources beyond what is already going to be an extremely difficult exercise for the police and stewards to control. Last time we played them away, I went on the train even though I had a coach ticket in my pocket. Believe me, I would never do that again. There was not a dingle in site due to the fact we were taken off the train at dingle barracks and held until the route was clear then marched down to the dingledome with a mounted police escort, but we were treated like football hooligans by the police just for being so stupid as to travel any other way than official coaches. Now I am older and wiser, I see it pointless trying to travel any other way that the official away travel to a game such as this. The only reason being is that you would be travelling from out of town.
Ben-2000 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I wasn't a 'condition' to travel on a coach the last 2 times (at least for Rovers fans anyway). The first time we went in the car without any problems. This time though both us and them must travel on an official coach, if you don't and are denied entry to the game then it will be your own stupid fault! Hughesy, you should be OK for the Darwen End, whether it will be Upper or Lower though who knows. I'm hoping to move to sit with others im buying for either in the DE or JW Lower.
LeftWinger Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I wasn't a 'condition' to travel on a coach the last 2 times (at least for Rovers fans anyway) I'm sure I got my ticket for the away game in the league on the coach last time.
67splitscreen Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I'm sure I got my ticket for the away game in the league on the coach last time. Yep I remember that as well, about 16 of us all travelled from Ossie down to Ewood, then on the coaches, showed a voucher then got your ticket before disembarking.
Spansterkid Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Does this mean the Burnley game is now one of the games included in the Darwen End season ticket and a different game will now be excluded from it? Or will Darwen End season ticket holders have to buy a ticket for the Burnley game?
Hasta Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Does this mean the Burnley game is now one of the games included in the Darwen End season ticket and a different game will now be excluded from it? Or will Darwen End season ticket holders have to buy a ticket for the Burnley game? I would have thought that it wouldn't be included as details of what was included was anounced at the start. The problem there is that if we are charging Burnley fans £35 to maximise revenue that we'll have to charge home fans £35 in the same stand.
Guest charlie1 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 All this crap about having to go on coaches to get a match ticket is not gonna stop the hooligans. Look at West ham vs Millwall most of those idiots had no intention of going to the game they just turned up for a ruck. If 2 sets of fans wanna fight they will simple as that i just hope it does'nt kick off in the ground.
SamDingle Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 What I don't understand is how we've gone backwards here. The tension was very high in 2000/01 because of the 17 years wait etc. There wasn't much trouble at all at the ground, the police did a great job to be fair. Then for the cup games in '05, the security was slackened slightly, make your own way there if you want. On the whole there was even less trouble. Now for our 'good behaviour' they seem to have gone totally OTT, making it more of a pain than ever. They can only be basing their decisions on the hype and crap you hear about this game rather than recent experience. The worst trouble I've seen following Burnley over the last 20 years has come against Bolton, Stockport, Darlington and Cardiff. Yet there would be no special measures for any of these games. But hey, there it is. Possibly a bit of a ball-ache but I suppose it'll all be worth it when we win.

I find it funny how whenever he talks seriously in a post, he has to just nip in a little arrogant comment at the end I think the police are a bit worried, that with it being in the top flight etc, passions will be running higher than ever. Doesn't make a difference to me, I'd get the coach anyway.

You obviously didn't attend several matches last season where trouble occurred at burnley games, Spurs, Chelsea, Sheff Weds away, Arsenal at home to name but a few. All incidents told to me by burnley fans caught up in the trouble, so don’t go kidding yourself Trumpet boy.

I think you may may be right in some respects here charlie1 - seems to be alot of hysterical knee jerking going on though from both sides and what happend at this match has probably only made it worse to create what feels like a very very over cautious approach for our game (maybe right maybe wrong)

Will Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I went on the train last time and will be doing again, with or without a ticket.
sambo Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I went on the train last time and will be doing again, with or without a ticket. Did you make the match in time? Some people were late I heard
Will Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 about 20 mins late, but a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon walk
Ben-2000 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Yep I remember that as well, about 16 of us all travelled from Ossie down to Ewood, then on the coaches, showed a voucher then got your ticket before disembarking. We applied for ours by post, and tickets for both away games came through the post (and you had to apply by post for the game in 2000). The coaches were free to encourage you to travel on them but not compulsary and as I said we travelled by car for the first game at 'turd with no probs whatsoever..
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Sam...."Brrrr! Brrrr! Brrrr!!! (honk ! honk!) Look uncle-mummy! I`m driving to Ewood all on my own! Brrrr! Brrrr! (screechy wheel noise) honk! Honk!" Dont be daft,he's coming with 'the Padiham pudding and his boys' dont you know!

Not if you knew the right person. which might be why we had to get them on the coach, that was the game in 2000.
No Nay Never Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Samuel why on earth would they make the purchase of a coach ticket compulsory - but the actual coach travel optional ??? I wasn't starting a rumour the receipts then tickets is a fact... But for what it's worth I hope you park in lower darwen and get hoofed right down to Ewood ... Thanks for calling.
