A Dingle's take on it

Makes some good points, for those who can separate messageboard 'banter', hype and vitriol from the reality of just going to a game.

I think everyone, us and the police have got carried away with the playground rumours and bull**** you hear about these matches.

I think that's a superb piece. Encapsulates what this derby is/should be all about both historically and current day.

Does anybody remember the Dingle documentary by Alastair Campbell when hes interviewing Barry Kilby's wife at their wedding and she says of the promotion, ' we'll take the money and run ' does anyone remember her saying that.

Thought it was significant to the thinking behind the mindeset of Burnley football clubs chairman short and long term ambitions.

How they must envy the JW Trust policy of ''throw money at it.''

I was talking to a 'life-long Bumley fan' last Friday (i couldn`t avoid it, it was work related ) & he mentioned he`d just claimed his money back for two Bumley season tickets. He sounded very pleased with himself. I told him i`d heard about the "free season ticket if we go up" offer & asked 'why' he`d not taken up the offer of free shares in the club? He said he`d pumped enough money into the club over the years (via STs) & just wanted something back in return for his loyalty. He also vented his fears for Bumley football club, saying if they got relegated they`d probably 'do a Barnsley' & sink down a couple of divisions. He `s also fearing the premierleague manager merry-go-round......cos as soon as any BIG club have a bad run & sack their boss, they`ll move in for Coyle.........who is (as he says) the ONLY thing that is keeping Bumleys head above water.

After watching Burnley on MOTD, I have to say they were absolutely pathetic defensively. Their defence was static, "Beast" was very poor in his shot stopping (parried one or two straight to a Liverpool player), and they looked incapable of dealing with Liverpool. It was all too simple for Liverpool, especially Benayoun. Even as he scored his third goal, Benayoun hardly celebrated - he seemed almost embarrassed to score, like if you were scoring against some lower league team in a League Cup tie. It all seemed inevitable, and the fans hardly celebrated the goal either. Honestly thought their defence would put up more of a fight than they did. Not that I care ;)

If you look at the 5 games we have played , the same fixtures last season you got 1 point and minus 8 goal difference.

Well i`m sure exactly the same is going to happen again this season

And I know its points that matter, but I was just pointing out that the wins you do get are probably only gonna be 1-0`s like have been already and backs against the wall.

Interesting one from Nicko this morning.

Burnley fans can't be happy with that if it happens. They need to concentrate on staying up and if he is working as Part-time Scotland boss as well, his mind isn't just on Burnley Football Club. What the heck, go for it Coyle :P
