"The Clarets' boss has told pals he thinks a future generation of young Scots could be moulded into a good team."

Isn't that what he's trying to do at Burnley?

I'd see them allow it if nothing else to give him an in to being able to recruit some good, young, cheap players.

Does anybody remember the Dingle documentary by Alastair Campbell when hes interviewing Barry Kilby's wife at their wedding and she says of the promotion, ' we'll take the money and run ' does anyone remember her saying that.

Thought it was significant to the thinking behind the mindeset of Burnley football clubs chairman short and long term ambitions.

I did see that - i've also seen the stuff from Kilby where he talks about how the second season is the one that really allows you to push on if you can get it.

Hola fellow football fans.

Just thought I'd drop in ahead of what is the really important run of fixtures for us. We got the drubbing exepcted from Chelsea and Liverpool - It is never going to be pretty if we end up trying to chase games against teams like that by letting them get 1 up early on.

The home games coming up against Sunderland, Birmingham,Wigan and Hull and the away game against yourselves could well determine whether we have any real prospect of surviving. 9 points really required from those, especially as yourselves, Wigan, Hull and Brum are likely to be lower table along with us. Sunderland I'm not so sure about, I think I'd settle for a point from that.

Despite our difficult start we do still have 6 points on the board - 5 more than most would have predicted and 6 more than a lot did predict. If we can add the required points form the home games we have coming up then just maybe we can see the season out.

Interesting that you see Sunderland as a team on a different level to us (nothing wrong with that, just interesting!). Over the past few seasons I've come to look at them as a sort of barometer team for us : similar to us, so when we do well against them we'll finish above em and vice versa. Although they won up there a few weeks ago, we were the better team and should have had at least a draw. Anyway, what that all boils down to - if you'd settle for a point from them, I'd say that's a realistic aim for our game. Wonder (hope?) if the last couple of games have seen momentum change a bit. Must admit I wasn't looking forwards to playing you but am MUCH more confident now, wish the game was next week!

You have two mega critical games coming up then. You absolutely have to win those home games against Hull and Brum. Keep those two beneath you and you are staying up.

Think they need somebody else below them also Phil :P

However I think we may possibly know who that might be after the 'puppies' performance last weekend

does anyone know the score with tickets for the game yet... i'm wondering if there's priority for fans that have been to other games? someone mentioned something about season ticket holders being able to but tickets, anyone else heard this and know more? living in london this will be my first game so i'm a bit worried about tickets.

cheers

home game, what's this database business? i've just had a look on the official site but no details as yet http://www.rovers.co.uk/page/TicketsLatest...1786338,00.html

Usually means you have some buying history for Rovers. It's a way to avoid away fans buying tickets in home areas. In theory.

For high demand games, such as the Burnley match, it's sometimes insisted on.

You can probably be added to the database without buying too - contact the club asap. Longer you leave it, less likely they would be willing to add you.

The impression I was left with after the Fans Forum last night, was that in order to get tickets for October 18th in home areas at Ewood, you would need a buying history from last season as well as from this season.

So I'm not sure ringing the ticket office a month before the game is going to work, even if you live in London (or abroad).

The club is also going to urge ST holders not to buy tickets in home areas for friends / colleagues who support Burnley who then have to sit on their hands for 90 minutes ... although this always happens for MU / Lpool etc, they perceive this game to be too high profile and high risk, so will come down "very heavily" on Rovers fans who ignore this advice.

Basically, as the eyes of the world will be on this game, they want the occasion to go off without any risk of any incident at Ewood - however small - which could damage the reputation of BRFC. :brfc:

Pretty unlikely in my view. I shall be looking for one extra ticket and would be very unhappy if people who has never been to Ewood got one ahead of me as a longstanding ST holder, plus 19 years of buying up to four STs! With luck the club will offer tickets to ST holders and those with a consistent buying history - they will know how many tickets are needed to cover the regulars.

Tris - my notes form last night say that you will need to be on the database and have bought a ticket for a match either last season OR this, not both. I presume that's because there have not been many opportunities yet this year. If you're a season ticket holder you will need evidence of having bought extra match tickets, again either last season or this - just being a season ticket holder will not be enough. When you think about it that's only fair - season ticket holders get in plus anyone who has been to a game in the last 14 months can buy. Tickets will not be sold at the town centre shop for this game.

Another important fact to bear in mind is that there will only be around 2,000 tickets available for open sale. Burnley will have the Jack Walker side of the Darwen End, upper and lower - 3,000 tickets. Rovers fans will be in the other half of the Darwen End lower tier. The other half of the upper tier will not be used and of course there will be a segregated area in the lower tier.

For the away game allocation will be based on the number of away matches attended. The club will work out nearer the time how the allocation will be handled as they will look at how many have attended say 10,9,8,7 etc away matches. Those with the best attendance will get first choice and so on until they have all gone - it's pretty unlikely that you will get a ticket without having been away at all. One thing you must do is to make sure that the club knows you have bought a ticket - if someone has bought a ticket for you and not given the club your patron number it won't count. It also won't count if you buy on the day from the away club. Cup games will count.

Re being able to get on the database now, it's worth a call but you may not be accepted without a very good story. Of course you could buy a ticket and come to the Villa game.....

oh balls, was on the other side of the world last season. might have to fire off an email pointing out how many season tickets i've had over the years and hope for the best!

it's that or hope season ticket holders get priority to buy other tickets so that firends / family can sort me out.

will be gutted to miss it...
