laughatthedingles Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 With Di Santo off in January no doubt we will be in the market for a striker, Sam wants a big target man, not many better than this fella and he wants a move mmmm would be nice!

T4E Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Was going to make this topic myself, just saw the headline on SSN that he said he might need to leave Villa to go to the World Cup. Perfect Sam player, I'd love to have him here.
47er Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Is it absolutely for definate that Di Santo will be moving back to Chelsea in January?
1864roverite Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 He would be helpful to the groundsman, he would roll the pitch for them. I dont like Heskey, he is not for me.
T4E Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Given the ACN and Chelsea's transfer ban it has to be pretty likely 47er. Especially if he carries on performing for us.
JC4LAB Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Haven't we been after this guy before and he turned us down adamadantly...?
Big Fat Sam Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I'd take Heskey if we could say shift Roberts. But I'd hate to think what his wages are like.
Ricky Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I was going to start a thread about this first thing but thought I'd be slated for thinking he'd be a good option for us. Looks like a few people actually agree. Wonder if we could get a loan deal in place for him if he's still not getting a run of games at Villa.
philipl Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Sam has already said Di Santo will leave in January. A lot depends on Kalinic getting up to Premier League strength. We will no doubt have a good chance to assess his progress when Posh come to Ewood.

We will no doubt have a good chance to assess his progress when Posh come to Ewood. He has said he expects him too, but we will try to extend the loan. So it is not decided yet.
Commondore Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I'm still waiting for someone to help Heskey discover his form from Leicester and the early Liverpool years. Then he was a powerhouse forward who actually scored goals (much like Mark Viduka in his prime) rather than the 100 % target man he's become today,
LeChuck Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Must admit it was the first thought that entered my mind when I read it as well. A loan deal until the end of the season perhaps? It's always difficult to second-guess what teams will do, but I can't see many suitors for him at the moment. Hull will probably try and fail as they do with every striker on the move. Stoke could be a possibility, they're not a afraid to spend money and he would suit their style perfectly. Only Birmingham and Fulham look like other potential destinations for me.
Hughesy Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Unless they drop the ban - Di Santo heads back Personally Id ask Villa about a loan until the end of the season, and lose Roberts to a championship club.
speeeeeeedie Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 He would be a great signing for us. He would have 5 months playing with a chip on his shoulder to prove that he is worth an England place. I reckon he would be worth the wages he would score goals for us, and create havoc for others.
OscarRaven Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Oh no. The despair is everywhere. Heskey - good? useful? what has happened to you?
philipl Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 He has said he expects him too, but we will try to extend the loan. So it is not decided yet. In a remarkably uncommented and unnoticed quote, Sam basically waved the white flag on this one two weeks ago.
waggy Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 we have enough strikers who cannot score, would not touch ivanhoe with a barge pole
gumboots Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Heskey must be one of the least mobile forwards around nowadays. We already lack pace and mobility. It's no good his being the target man if we've nobody to actually score the goals. Unless I missed something we don't have a goalscoring forward. Now I know they cost a fortune we haven't got but it would be nice to actually think for a month or two that we might be looking for one instead of a great lumbering guy who hasn't scored many in the last 4 years or more
modes98 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Heskey is a big lump, who collapses to the floor very easily. There is no way we should be spending any cash on him, especially at 31. A loan deal would be ok if we can't get Di Santo to stay. I doubt there will be many strikers available that we could get in. The problem is that he doesn't score many goals.
Barrymaffia Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 No way!!!!! I hope we don't go anywhere near Heskey. We need someone with speed up front, not some big target man, plus do we really want "Sams style of play" forever??
Tim Southampton Rover Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 We wouldn't be able to afford his wages whilst Salgado is on our books picking up a hefty wedge. The only way I can see him coming in is if we get rid of Benni this transfer window.

Like it or lump it, whilst Sam's here we will have a big target man up front.
OscarRaven Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 You aren't thinking straight barry. Like it or lump it, whilst Sam's here we will have a big target man up front. Then we should have a good target man or a change of football 'style'. Not an ageing donkey. Is Big Fat Sam so one dimesional in style? I'm not sure he is.

Iceman Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Roberts is useless, Benni is fat, and Kalinic is still trying to find his scoring touch. MGP doesnt contribute with goals anymore, and Bert has just returned from injury. Dunn is our likeliest source to get goals. Its going to be another long season, unless we get at least 2 strikers in January who can score.
