saxo1man30 Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 according to a nicko penned story in the mirror, rovers are to sign free agent camel merium on a deal until the end of the season. this guy was once touted as a real star as a playmaker but seemed to lose his way. this, if true, could be a good deal for rovers if sam can get him back on track. a good replacement for tugay and only 30 yr old. if tugay is anything to go by we could get 6 years out of this guy.

mellison24 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Most of us have the hump after this weekend's offering. The last thing we need is a Camel!! I'll get my coat.....
broadsword Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Only one google result on him. Is this a wind-up?
Amo Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Bad spelling is bad. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Blackburn-plan-transfer-swoop-for-former-Monaco-star-article202085.html

Steve Moss Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camel_Meriem Above is his wikipedia entry. I like the parts that he is: 1) free; 2) only for the balance of the season; 3) an attacking midfielder; and, 4) "He is a playmaker well known for his vision and precision passing".
neekoy Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Always used to be my first buy in Champ Manager.
Bobby G Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Decent and tricky midfielder. Cant see him playing in central midfield. More likely in Dunn's position.
Stonesrick Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 4) "He is a playmaker well known for his vision and precision passing". I can't see why we need him when we have KA who already has all these attributes.
Zulu Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 The Ginger Mourinho reckons he's not good enough for us - so I wouldn't get too excited about this one if I were you.
Manc Rover Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 He's only 30, got 4 French caps so must be worth a punt for the rest of the season. Has to be KA's replacement!
Jackson Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Nothing lost, so good business as far as I'm concerned. Nicko, can you expand on the story, old boy?
den Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 The Ginger Mourinho reckons he's not good enough for us - so I wouldn't get too excited about this one if I were you. Agreed Zulu. "Too similar to what we have" is a polite way to say he was disappointing. If he had looked good, your lads would have taken him.
DanLad Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 The Ginger Mourinho reckons he's not good enough for us - so I wouldn't get too excited about this one if I were you. On the other hand, Megson didn't rate him...could be a good sign! ;-)
den Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Megson rated Elmander - enough said! and............?
Zulu Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Megson rated Elmander - enough said! ... and Cahill. Your go.
philipl Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Over 300 appearances in top top flight French clubs and 4 French caps augurs well. Being released by Monaco this summer at the end of his contract does not. Being too similar to the Bolton midfield sounds ordinary in the extreme but a big advance over what we have at the moment. Sign him up!
LeChuck Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I wonder if he can play out wide? His goalscoring record suggests he wouldn't be playing off the striker like Dunn is at the moment.
nicko Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Camel Meriem has been with Rovers for a couple of days and is scheduled to return. He has a very good CV and it amazes me he is still a free agent - although that may have something to do with his previous agent. The guy was at Bolton for a few days but Megson felt he was too similar to what he has. That doesn't mean he is not good enough or not fit enough. I presure Meriem will have one of Sam's famous tests and then a decision will be made. If he is as good as his past record then he must be worth a look.
Cocker Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I thought our wage bill was at the limit? The guy must be offered a pay as you play deal if he comes in?

We only have one passer in the side in Dunn (well there is Grella but he is not that good and always injured) so this is extremely welcome! With Hoilett and Dunn it would maybe be more useful if he could play a bit further back and dictate the play. I suppose, unless he has been working his balls off, we are not going to see him play for a month or so at least as he gets fit.
