BPF Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I just typed a massive message and then my internet connection was lost and it all disappeared, how annoying. I cannot believe that he is playing Di Santo up front on his own again! Di Santo is a great player but he is still pretty unproven at this level. Di Santo's style of play needs another out and out striker up there with him. He's not the sort of player that is going to create his own chances time after time. The midfield we have is not capable of supporting a lone striker. I know that Sam could never imagine us taking a point off the big four, particularly off his idol, Ferguson but surely against Portsmouth, things should be different. I don't think I'm being dramatic in saying that Portsmouth could end up being our rivals to avoiding relegation this season. I cannot believe the Burnley score and I cannot believe Chimbonda has just punched O Hara in the face. Have we ever had a team with so many morons?
Backroom DE. Posted November 7, 2009 Backroom Posted November 7, 2009 Unbelievable. Chimbonda should have just been sent off. ####ing idiot. Lucky to get a yellow.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 FFS Chimbonda, you don't raise your hands! Should have been sent off.
bigbrandjohn Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 In fairness pompey are stromger than our opposition in the last few weeks
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Sam needs to make the changes at HT. 60 or 70 mins is too late, only one side look like scoring and that's Pompey. Switch to a 4-4-2 and bring on Niko or Benni.
Mr. E Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 things weren't this grim even under Ince. At least he was always trying new things when it looked like something wasn't working.
niggit Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Benni or Kalinic has to come on. May need Chimbonda off, can't afford to go down to 10 men.
des Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I have not said much yet, but I cannot belive what I am seeing. one up front at home playing this lot, the midfeild with this format should be on top are we. are we heck. Up front, the ball just keep on going back unto our defence. The manager stands or falls by the decsions he makes well todate his 4-4-1-1 his not working at all time to change it or we say go bye to our stay at the top level
KoNG Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 We love the yellow card..... Samba needs one just to complete the back line. Ugly
Dan Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I'm not one for knee jerk reactions, but we're going down. No creativity at all and Pompy look much better than us. Our away form means we gave to win a LOT of games like this one.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 People say that playing 5 in midfield adds more stability, but we look weak defensively with 5 so i can't see 4 being much worse. Time to drop this 4-4-1-1 and play 2 strikers, if that means we have to drop Dunny then so be it.
emerton Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 with nelsen, givet & chimbonda all on yellows and pompeys speed causing us trouble i wouldn't be suprised if we finished a man down today. hasn't been an inspiring half - lets hope for a more positive second half display
broadsword Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I seem to remember that we are the worst second half team in the league. maybe Sam would be best off keeping his gob shut, and letting a few supporters into teh dressing room to say what they think.
Backroom DE. Posted November 7, 2009 Backroom Posted November 7, 2009 What a dire, dire first half of "football". Keep in mind we have what is widely considered our "strongest" side out, yet: - we're 1-0 down against the bottom club in the league at home. - the goal we conceded was due to not closing down a player outside the box. Sound familiar? - we have absolutely NO creativity. Zilch. Our only plan seems to be to win free-kicks and lump it into their box. We're crap at that too. - we should be down to ten men, no question. - we've had no clear cut chances at all. Not one. Quite simply, this is not good enough. Sam needs to change things drastically at half time, because if the game stays as it is we will not score.
Amo Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Rovers booed off at H/T. Sam only knows the 4-5-1, but you can't put square pegs in round holes. I'd take Pedersen/Diouf/Emerton off, put Kalinic up front with Di Santo and go 4-4-2 with Dunn/N'Zonzi in the middle.
sam_rovers Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 closing down.. its not tough.. are they not fit enough? are they not smart enough to realize that if you give players space they will shoot, are they so ###### stupid that htey havent realized that robinson is horrible with long range shots? it'like were playing ###### basketball... zonal defense and hope for the ###### rebound
yellowsubmarine Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Ugly game. Are we even the home team? Ha!
Dan Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 BFS is not going to change anything. His biggest problem is his stubburn attitude. He did drop Andrews, which shows he is at least learning a little. 4-5-1 at home though? Against Pompy? Flashbacks from Newcastle fans moaning about their famous game at home against Derby spring to mind. We are up the creek though, because even if we do sack him, we'll struggle to find anyone decent and his pay off/signing on fee for new manager will mean bye bye to the January transfer kitty(if we even have one).
Saahil Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Sam will probably force him to train with the youth squad after this, just to show us that he's the boss. EXPERT
