There's a lot of sense in what you write but the thing is that at Birmingham and Fulham the managers seem to have got their players playing to their strengths. Our manager doesn't even seem to know what the strengths of our players are and we are certainly not playing to them. He openly admitted just this week that he doesn't know his best 11 and for me the lack of confidence the players show in one another and in the manager's tactics are the most concerning thing.

I agree with you that Sam hasn't been as effective as Hodgson or McLeish in getting the most out of the players, but I still maintain my point that we have too many new players who haven't completely integrated into the squad. It does make it hard to play effectively when that's the case. Disruptions to the back four and midfield and inexperience up front does not help matters much. We WERE in good form and playing well when we had a more or less stable back four and Dunn and Grella were playing on a regular basis.

Fulham and Birmingham really have been quite stable this season and the previous season as well with a squad that hasn't been changed that much. So yes, I firmly believe that if (and when) Sam settles on a regular first 11 then we will see improved results and improved performances. I don't believe that sacking him and changing things around again and having a new manager bring new players in will change anything. I honestly don't care if Sam does leave or gets fired at some point, but now is really not the time.

Same old, same old. Reo-coker, who´s next? Annan? If we somehow had £5M to spend we wouldn´t spend it on R-C. Grella and Andrews to Villa and Reo-Coker to Rovers would be nice swap deal. BTW, it´s amusing what happend this guy. He was Hammers captain and scored late winner against Man Utd. He didn´t even smile because was so close transfer to Man Utd. No he is a basic transfer window rumour to Rovers and several other clubs.

Reo-Coker is not a bad player but is a bit of a tit. I love the story about him gobbing off in the West Ham changing rooms about he was too good for them and would be going to a "top four club". Teddy Sheringham was said to put him right in his place and tell him he would never be good enough for one of those teams.

Wouldn't be too unhappy if we did sign him but we might have more chance with Sidwell at a lower fee. He would do a job but isn't exactly top drawer.

I don't think Reo-Coker will want to move up here...

I like Nani on loan would be a good deal. There is no doubt he's creative. He's just been struggling at a club that has been expecting him to become the next Ronaldo. Give him 6 months with us, play him week in week out and I'm confident he'd come good.

I can't see it happening though. I can't see Nani wanting to come here. And if Fergie wants rid of him (like the rumours say so) then he'll sell him.

This bit didn't make it into the Transfer Digest...

Nigel Reo-Coker

According to The Times:

"It is thought that Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic and Hull City are also interested in recruiting Reo-Coker, although Blackburn, like Hull, would have to sell players first to raise funds before they could find the £5 million for which Villa may consider offloading him."

His wages would be high tbh. I was hoping the board, would push the Meriem deal through. He would have at least provided, a bit of creativity in midfield.

We won't be signing anyone whilst there is uncertainty over Sam's future FFan.

I would have thought it's more down to the fact we haven't offloaded anyone of real significance yet.

Has Van Heerden definitely gone?

Now we are taking the micheal, :( big time !

Another big lumbering donkey, to match our man on the line, Allardyce.

It's going to be a joint Press Conference to announce a dual signing.

With Beattie.

;)

Yeah he's gone - although differing reports as to whether its a perm or a 6 month loan...

Dont think we have any funds to be honest - although looking at the James to Stoke deal, perhaps Pompey just want players out for free.
