According to Tribal (quoting the Sun), we're in interested in Everton's James Vaughan.

According to wiki, he's an England U-21 striker. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Vaughan_(footballer_born_1988)

And this is what the Guardian's Rumor Mill has to say on the subject: "James Vaughan could be heading out, however, with Sam Allardyce coquettishly wafting 200,000 £10 notes in the direction of Goodison Park."

The mental picture of "Sam Allardyce coquettishly" doing anything is likely to send me to therapy.

Ands FansFC alleges we're interested in O'Neil and will most likely fund him via a Benni sale.

Do you ever sleep in the States Smoss?!!

I like Vaughan but I'd imagine he'd be out of our price range - unless we get him on a loan deal.

Insomnia. Induced by small children crawling into bed with me and my wife and kicking me until I vacate.

I like Vaughan also but my hopes have been dashed so many times I no longer dare dream. Merien and Linganzi are about as ambitious I allow my hopes to get, nowadays.

Though Vaughan has the extra advantage of having scored against Burnley. :tu:

Nail on head.

Drogba I think, though Rooney would come with the 'sell on' factor.

Our biggest problem is creating chances for our forwards to score,so midfield and wingers should be the priority.

Otherwise if you prefer lets sign a goalkeeper who can kick it further than Robinson.

But do not forget the "sell on factor".

Vaughan is abit injury prone...he would be a risk, unless it was performance related pay.

We need to be looking at the likes of Ledley & Johnson who both fit into the home-grown quota & are both available for free soon enough....Perhaps we could send Roberts to Boro as they have been linked with them

I read the other day that Ledley is set for surgery (knee I think) before the end of the month and that will keep him out for the whole season. Shame because I don't think we stand any chance of getting him on a free, he'll probably end up somewhere like Everton.

Which Johnson do you mean?

For the same amount of cash - Roberts out, Beattie in - wouldnt be a bad move. He is better than Roberts, he will give more & he will score more. He also fits into the english quota thing and he is a local lad, so should try his best for us!

He would also replace reid on the injury list!!!!!!!!!1

The only thing I can think of that would propel the ball further than Robinson would be a cannon. Mind you that would have an added advantage in that it would take out a few of the moaning minnies in the BBE!wink.gif

Show we are willing now & approach him whilst he's injured then.....shows we are keen at least.

Adam Johnson - Although he's 23 on the 14th july - will they be due compo for him?!

Beckford is another freebie who can be approached now isnt he?!

I read the other day that some team were planning a £6 million raid on Johnson. Surely that has got to be rubbish? £3 million max for him given he's out of contract in July.

I'd love him at the club, but you've got to think that a bigger club will come in for him.

£6m? Cant see it - we have made it to the 19th of Jan without any massive amounts being spent...

Offer him Pedersen's wages and it would probably make his eyes water!

Not sure we're allowed to do that, if Cardiff complained we could get in a lot of trouble. I don't think we can approach until the final month of his contract.

Totally forgot about Adam Johnson...he's way out of our league though, however much I'd love him here.
