Why? He signed a contract until 2011 just before Hughes left?

My mistake. I swore he was leaving end of season. In that case we should be making more out of him than 1.5m. 3-4m is more reasonable imo.

Like the sound of this Erugun fellow. If we get some power and drive alongside NZOnzi we will be in better shape to get Olsson and Hoilett screaming down the flanks and two up front. He can pass a bit too.

He was absolutely brilliant a few years ago, no idea what he's like now. It says there he can't get a game for Stuttgart...but then Christian Gross is their manager so I wouldn't read too much into that.

I don't think he's what we need though...he'd just be competing with Dunn for a similar role. We need pace and creativity in wide areas.

I love the old school Turkish players as I remember them fondly from the 2002 World Cup where they suprised everyone by finishing third with the likes of Sukur, Emre, Davala, Basturk and some guy called Tugay in their ranks.

The guy has a great touch and can pick out a pass. I'd be a bit apprehensive about his mobility around the pitch, but he'd certainly be worth a look, if only for his ability to unlock defences.

Any truth in this interest Nicko?

2 loan signings until the summer for our midfield would be great if they improve us - TRY and move on Roberts & Andrews to create some space on the wage budget.....then in summer decide between the two loanees, Pedersen & Reid (both out of contract) & Diouf.....

Yildiray Basturk? Eh, yes please. I saw him play a lot for Bayer Leverkusen and he was fantastic. I'm not sure what he's like now, but he's the type of player that you saw Sam sign when he was at Bolton eg. Jay-Jay Okocha and Youri Djorkaeff. He would certainly add another creative dimension to our team. While Erugun would add some real steel to the midfield along with Nzonzi and Reid.

Samba is still our best defender; calls to replace him are childish and pretty insane

He's been hacking people in the box week after week. His positioning has been awful recently. He doesn't really look like he wants to be here (wasn't there a dodgy interview when he signed the new contract?).

Cash in, move Givet into the centre with Nelsen and bring in a cheap replacement, or a proper left back.

I would agree LeChuck but you have to remember that Sam would probably see around 50% of Samba's fee - if that. If he were to get the full amount to spend then I'd probably be all for it.

If we could sell Samba for £10m, and spend half of that on a playmaker I'd be a happy man.

Knowing us, we'd sign a new right-back.

Pathetic reactions. Samba is one of our last sellable assets. Havent we learnt? We only grow weaker by selling our best.

That's the position we're in. We've been selling players to balance the books for years now. I don't think Samba would have the same detriment on our team as Bellamy, Bentley, Warnock etc.
