[Archived] Sam's January Targets

Guest Wen Y Hu

Just to follow up on Bobby G's posts about Eguren going to Lazio (and thereby about to be crossed off our list of potential targets)...

The original article, in Italian, appears to have been published here:

ITA Sport Press, 23 January 2010

Lazio, è fatta per Eguren del Villarreal

Here's what www.freetranslation.com made of the article:

"Sebastian Eguren Ledesma, midfielder uruguaiano class 1981, in force to the Villarreal, reached the Agreement for its transfer to the Latium. The gambler had already given its availability for the operation. In the last now also the Villarreal, would have accepted the proposal of the Latium of the loan until June with right of ransom aside of the biancocelesti. Already in the next hours the midfielder could be made official."

I have absolutely no comment to make... Fortunately, Goal.com has picked up on the news on the ITA Sport Press website and reports as follows:

Goal.com, 23 January 2010

Lazio reach agreement for Villarreal midfielder Sebastian Eguren: The deal is set to be announced in the coming hours...

You have to love Tribalfootball.com! 4 hours ago they report that West Ham have ended their interest in Mccarthy and half an hour ago they report that he's on the brink of joining West Ham and terms have been agreed! Sums up the transfer window really.

If you read the stories, you can see that the broken down -story is from LET and on the brink -story is from Sunday Times. They just report what's been said in the other sources.

You're right of course but it means that after you've waded through loads of press stories you are still no wiser!

The Sunday Times does debunk the work permit issue by pointing out Benni's wife is Spanish. Doesn't automatically guarrantee a work permit though.

Shifting Benni without getting a new player definitely signed is a huge mistake. Shifting JR and Andrews without replacements isn't.

If according to Sunday Times we have got rid of Benni for 2.5mn, then Sam should move fast for James Beattie and Basturk and do what he can to shed Roberts and Andrews. I may be in a minority but we should offer MGP another contract(I believe his form has not been helped by the latter days of Hughesy, dead hand of Ince and the early fumblings of BFS) cos Central midfield is a good move because of his mobility.

Anyone else would be a bonus til Summer. Incremental improvements eg if we can get O'neill on cheap do it!

This Rasmus Elm has just come on for Alkmaar against Ajax, live on ESPN for free this weekend!

He got booked for a handball within 10 seconds of coming on

No the booking was his team mate who came on at the same time, Lenz. Elm looked confident on the ball and able to spread play quite well, also has a good corner delivery on him.

Alan Smith (until 2008) was apparently the 2nd most persistent fouler in the professional English leagues (behind Kevin Davies) having committed 423 fouls and received 8 red cards. Wow. let's have him!!! At least he'll do SOMETHING other than point frigging everywhere like a demented BeeGee stuck in the chorus of 'Staying Alive'!

:rover: we should have made at least one bid for either beckford, johnson, moses, boyd, commons or adam,ll championship plaers that would improve our team :brfc:

We went for Johnson but Chelsea dwarfed us.

Moses will end up at a top 5 team

Beckford has signed a pre-contract at Everton if rumours are correct.

This link has two Trojans lurking in it. Luckily my Kapersky was on the ball and sorted it for me, but anyone who does not have such Internet protection should be aware.

I got exactly the same response with Kapersky too, now doing a full scan which will take up most of my human life to complete :angry2:
