DanLad
How the hell would Grella manage to pass a medical with his track record? Come to think of it, who carried out the medical when we signed him? Dr. Nick Riviera from the Simpsons? LOL! HIYA, EVERYBODY! Maybe Ince did the medical? He didn't need a medical practicing certificate or anything. He'd 'observed' House and Casualty on the telly so he already knew everything that he needed to know... Hughesy
Isnt bastürk in the turkish national team either? He isnt named in the 22 player squad. I am getting more and more sceptic about this signing. In 2007-08 he played in 30 games In 2008-09 he played in 5 games So far in 2009-10 he has played in 1 game His last Turkey appearance appears to be 16/11/2005 v Switzerland - he quit the national team aslong as Terim stayed in charge. (2005-2009) Sounds like he gets his fair share of injuries now though - see here He almost ended up at Besiktas in September

modes98
If you don't get games you can't play well. The bonus of a 6 month loan is that we can see what he is like and his attitude and then make a decision. The guy had talent and Sam may be the one to get him motivated again. novella
Basturk is VERY injury prone. Hopefully he can keep fit for 6 months

koi
This Basturk fella is starting to tick the right boxes; Injury prone, falls out with coaches, can't get a game at his current club - sign him up he'll fit right in.
bob fleming
The Russian sports site football.ru claims that Zenit St Petersburg manager Luciano Spaletti has been in touch with Grella and is prepared to make an offer of around 5 million Euros to bring the 30 year-old to Russia. Is "Zenit" Russian for Hospital? Maybe it's all in the name of medical science.
nicko
GRELLA...could be a loan, nobody is buying him at his age for that kind of money. BASTURK...not sure that one is right.
magicalmortensleftpeg
Gudjohnsen is more important then Basturk. Basturk was a class footballer for Leverkusen and Hertha Berlin but clearly he isnt up to that standard at the moment. I think Gudjohnsen could do a decent job and would score then Benni would if he stays.
Bennisfromheaven
Basturk, great player a couple of years ago but 1 sub appearance this year doesn't fill me with hope. I don't see him walking straight in though and with one sub appearance who knows how far he is from match fitness. But then again he's still probably in better shape than Dunn. Tugay didnt play for Rangers all that much before he came to Rovers either!!! Hopefully the medical team will do a thorough test before allowing anyone sign, i get the impression Ince diodnt care about medicals when he was here. It was like he had his mind set on a player & a failed medical was not going to stop him signing them. That seemed to be the case with grella & Robinson anyway!! nicko
Nicko - any chance of us resurrecting the Gary O'Neill option if Benni and/or Morten are sold ? Middlesbrough are very difficult to deal with. As I see it, there will be one striker in if Benni goes and one left sider in if Morten leaves. Obviously if Grella moves out too that may mean a central midfielder. Linganzi - because he is cheap - is likely to happen no matter what.

I wonder if Linganzi is another ' one for the future ' ala Niko and Nzonzi !> Do you have any idea of the fee for him as I've heard it's the main stumbling block as to why the deal is yet to be tied up ? Bennisfromheaven
Tugay played 40 games in one year at Rangers. Basturk has hardly played a game in 2 years! 40 games in a year & half, he went to rangers in January '01 & signed for us in the summer '02. Although granted, he did play more than Basturk!! tcj_jones
Loaning Grella out makes absolutely no sense. We have very limited options in midfield with Andrews simply not cutting it, Dunn and Reid being hugely injury prone and McCarthy (though not a midfielder, is usually employed in the 'Dunn' position) looking as though he is about to leave. I actually like Grella and think he's a good midfield terrior. However, injuries remain a big problem. Therefore, in an ideal world, we'd sell him and recoup a fair amount of what we forked out. If we can't get money for him, however, surely our best option would be to try and get him fit and rotate him in and out of the team depending on which of our other midfielders get injured? Kelbo
What a find for Fulham, they're going to get about £8 million for doing a bit of lower league scouting! Must admit I haven't seen him play once. I wonder if Man Utd are planning on getting rid of Vidic or Ferdinand in the summer? Theres two or three at Accy Stanley who may just push on too!!! We'd be just behind Stoke in the list of clubs Wenger wouldn't want to send him to. Wouldn't surprise me to see him hang on until right near the end of the window for a southern club to come in for him.

To be honest - and this applies to many in the bottom half - there is not much money flying around for short-term fixes right now.
