Crystal Palace reported to have gone into administration; any pickings to be had other than Moses who will probably attract quite a bit of attention?

I always really liked Darren Ambrose when he was at Ipswich and Newcastle, then seemed to lose his way a bit after that...seems back on form with Palace now though.

Still only 25, he does have plenty of Prem experience, and can play anywhere across midfield...he's the joint second top scorer in the Championship this season. I think he'd definitely be worth a punt if we could move someone like Andrews out.

Edit: The only other name that stood out to me was Sean Scannell...according to his Wiki we have tried to sign him in the past.

Nathan Clyne is a pretty good young fullback (either right or left). English too, wouldn't grumble at having him on our books.

Wasnt their bid last week £2m? Wont of dropped that low - we wanted £3m originally!

The guy I spoke to said it was less than £2m but with bonus payments if certain targets are met which would push the fee up to over £2m.

He isn't a reliable source though so I wouldn't look that much into it but maybe Nicko might have heard something similar?

Personally I'd be surprised if it was under but if there are targets to be met then I can only assume Blackburn would be confident that WHU would meet them otherwise like you said, why sell for less than what was reported to have been turned down.

Darren Ambrose is only 25?! It seems like he's been around for 20+ years already!

He must have made his debut in his mid-teens or maybe he's got Nigerian blood in him and just doesn't age like Kanu and Martins

I heard about Nathaniel Clyne last week, talksport were talking to somebody about palace and they reckon he has a very bright future a head of him. The person even went as far as saying he is better then Cole when he was at Palace!

There would be cash for an 'investment' player...reasonable thinking.

To be honest - and this applies to many in the bottom half - there is not much money flying around for short-term fixes right now.

alan you said sam wouldnt let benni go till he found a replacment for him so who the replacment then and will there be a 11.00 clocker tonight

Bridges would have to be built??? It's 12 years ago since he left for Southampton and your talking about him joining the club he grew up supporting

If you were aware of the way in which he was forced out of Rovers and the effect it had on his family then you could make a more informed comment :wstu:

Im kind of surprised, that so many on here criticising Sam for wanting to bring in a few experienced players. Im not a Sam fan, but he has brought more youngsters into the team. With Benni, and possibly Grella, Roberts and Mgp leaving, a few experienced players wont do any harm. Eidur and Basturk are no mugs, and imo have plenty to offer and a whole lot to prove. I can only imagine what Toogs the great, must be thinking if he read the rubbish on here. Eidur and Basturk dont need to be quick, because they capable of opening up a defence standing still. If Sam is smart, and the fans are smart, then Eidur would be a brilliant signing. Play him and Dunn behind Kalinic, with Olsson on the left and Basturk on the right. And Emerton in that defensive midfield role.

Robbo

Chimbonda/Jacobsen Samba Nelsen Givet

Emerton

Basturk Olsson/Dunn Olsson/Ibricic

Eidur

Kalinic

Ive seen alot of Basturk, and he can play on either wing.

Aparently Eidur is off to West Ham along with Benni. He's a good player and probably the best replacement we could have gotten but i wouldnt cry if we missed out.

Same here. I thought he was a fairly undervalued player, and his versatility would certainly come in handy. I'm also surprised he's only 25. Thought he'd be a little bit older than that.

Keeping on topic, I would quite like Darren Ambrose actually, he'd be a '10 goals from midfield' attacking player. Getting him is anpother matter, as I'm sure other cash-strapped clubs will be in for him. One more chink in the chain.....we haven't even been linked yet!

You're a funny guy Mellison, this is a joke right?

For some reason I'm blindly optimistic about Linganzi but not so excited at the prospect of Beattie and I can see those two being our only arrivals this month

I'm assuming that a fee agreed for Benni and Gudjohnsen reportedly off to West Ham too that we'll see Beattie paraded in front of home fans at the earliest opportunity.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo not Beattie he is no way near as good as Benni Mc. We need a player who can come in and score goals I think a player like Bedford is worth a punt just like we did with Jon Stead.

Yeah I was thinking Ambrose as well. I've always liked him and my Palace supporting mate says he's been excellent this season. He probably wouldn't cost much and would presumably jump at the chance to return to the Premier League.
