Wait and see!!

Gudjohnsen completes 1st part of medical at West Ham and McCarthy agrees 2 and a half year deal at West Ham.

Not looking good for Rovers!

Looking very good imo. Pedersen out as well, maybe? Then bring in Ibricic and Beattie (maybe Basturk) and we'll have done some cracking business! So long as we get a good crosser in (maybe stick with Olsson) Beattie would come good imo!

Eidur Gudjohnson was my saving grace......far superior to Beattie!

Another let down in a transfer window!

Basturk- good players don't get dropped for 2 years!

Ibricic- fair play, decent prospect

Beattie- very Average

Not looking good lads!

Gudjohnsen is a bigger name but i think Beattie would be effective. Whether he's the type of player we need is another issue, but Gudjohnsen wouldnt have provided the same amount of creativity as McCarthy did. If Dunn can stay fit then I think signing a player in the ilk of Beattie may work, ie someone who's sole job is to score and finish off moves.

Di Santo does the same job as Beattie, only he's 10 years younger and much quicker. If we're buying Beattie I'd rather we put the money towards buying Di Santo instead.

As many have pointed out it's not the strikers that are the problem, it's the complete lack of service to them. Olsson looks useful on the left (amazing what a bit of pace and willingness to run at your man will do for a team), Hoilett could cause problems on the right (though shoe horned into the role, his pace would be a good outlet) - all the team is missing is a central midfielder that can get his foot on the ball and dictate play. Don't see us being linked to any of those though.

Been at a game...

Gudjohnsen is going to Spurs. Only came in very late. I suppose he is a luxury they can afford. Not for me, no great loss.

Beattie looks red-hot, but no bid in as yet. That's a bit strange.

Wilshere wants to go to Bolton. Intelligent lad.

Burnley a bit unlucky tonight, shame about the injuries. Bolton will have to get more quality down the line - Weiss did one great trick when he came on, should go far.

Now a deal has been done for Bennie, we will see if any of the players linked to Rovers were or are genuine. Sam said he couldn't buy without selling first - well a player has been sold - lets see how much of the money Sam is given and who he buys. I think we will hear more on Weds. Maybe even see the player at the wigan match.

Refreshingly honest there I expected a full on Bolton praise post. Elliot was lucky not to get a straight red, disgrace.

If Beattie is our main and only target it just smacks of a lack of imagination

Is Bentley leaving spurs? Wonder where they will play Gudjohnsen, midfield or up front. They have quite a few strikers now Keane, Defoe, Crouch - now Gudjohnsen - oh and the Russian who nobody appears to want. Now he would do well at Rovers.

Signing Beattie would be an utterly depressing signing, 30k a week, plus a signing on fee, aged 31-32 years of age, adding no value on the pitch and no value off the pitch.

After Robbie Fowler thought we'd learnt our lesson.

Must do better Rovers ! Must do a lot better than this Allardyce !

Or lack of money these days. Rovers can only afford to buy a replacement for Bennie, who will have an immediate impact in the team. Somebody with experience of the prem. Imagination says take a chance on somebody - maybe not experienced enough. That could be costly for Rovers. We all have dreams and imagination, but reality is completely different. Rovers do not have the money to find a top class replacement. Bennie was on £35k a week, beattie is on £30k.

What a surprise, more classic Redknapp earlier, can't stand the man! Seems like it was after he went through a Wast Ham medical as well.

"I would take him on a loan. He would be good loan signing playing in different systems.

"He's a good footballer and an interesting player on a loan, but I think he's gone to West Ham."

Any names come up for us nicko other than Beattie if he doesn't turn out to be a suitable replacement for McCarthy. Maybe it's just wishful thinking from my part. I really don't think at his age and given his current ability that he's the man to do it for us, not a lot better than Di Santo or Roberts as a target man, if at all.
