Basturk just signed for initial 6 month deal.

Some positive news at last !

Everyones is in a win win situation here. Not too finacially tieing to the club, Basturk gets his chance to prove himself and integrate into the club, looking forward to seeing him play.

Well he definitely was a good player, let's hope he can be again if he can put his injury troubles behind him.

Definitely a potentially interesting signing, I never realised it was so close, although he's been linked for a week or so it almost seems like it's come out of nowhere, perhaps I was just used to the transfer window being so quiet!

Dont know how to feel about it, but Ill say its better than nothing...

Similar age to when Tugay joined us.....our next Turkish delight? Here's hoping, Tugay was the one that told him to join us if he could!

No risk involved - loan deal so he does well we all win, he does rubbish, he doesnt play and goodbye!

Can he be involved tonight?!

Who knows where Sam plans to play him but i expect either in the Dunny role, or if age and injuries have reduced his pace then in the central midfield as a playmaker. The Basturk years ago had a decent passing range, vision and creativity.

Still need a striker to come in with Benni going out.

Big Zzzzzsam -

“I believe if Benni goes, we will have at least one deal, perhaps not to replace him though. It might be a better player to what we have got but it might not be on the front line.

“I don’t really believe that it has to be one in one out in that position.

"If a big player turns up that we believe can make a big difference in whatever position then that should be the replacement for Benni McCarthy.”

Sad about Gudjohnsen, thought he'd be good for us, class player who looked good at Ewood last time I saw him, may be past it but I suspect not, I back him to be do very well. Ho hum.

Beattie, why not? When he was banging a few in at Stoke early doors there were plenty on here saying we had missed the boat and we should have gone for him. Is Di santo staying when the season comes to an end in a few months time, is Roberts staying, we'll need some continuity surely. As long as the price and wages are reasonable I don't see much of a downside with this. It's in the category of 'taking a punt' - which has merit on the odd occasion - IMO.

Basturk, no lose situation, he'd be playing for a contract extension for next season, he's definitely got class in his CV, he's on 'pay for play' loan terms. There's only upside in this deal, well done Sam and JW.

As for the rest then Ibrcic (spelling?)would do nicely along with Andrews and Gella moving on for money. We need the cover but cash trumps cover and we need all the money we can get for next season.

Always up for a nice surprise out of left field though

:rover: another has been whats up with youth, moses is the man we should be after, just wait when nicko reports him on 40k a week :brfcsmilie:

Nothing's 'up' with youth. Moses would be good, but you cannot claim Sam has no interest in youth (I presume this is the stick you wish to beat him wwith). We have:

Hoilett

Olsson

Kalinic

Jones

DiSanto

Promising youngsters in the ranks:

Gunning

Banton

Haworth

Judge

Doran

Bunn

Fielding

Plenty of youth. Experience is what we need; to guide them first. NEXT uear is when y0uth will prosper. Until then we need experienced heads:

Basturk?

Emerton

Pedersen

Nelsen

Robbo

Givet

Samba (kind of)

Reid

Others I cba naming.
