Nicko, you referred to the Basturk deal.

You didn't seem to think there was anything in tnat one when asked about it earlier. Is that one that just slipped under the radar or are the club keeping dealings closer to their chest these days.

I'm only asking in the hope that maybe we're going to sign a decent striker that you've not heard about :)

I was just shocked by it from all angles. It didn't fit the profile. But that will teach me for applying logic.

I think there is another striker's name being mentioned at the moment, but it is too bizarre to put on here or anywhere.

But it does make me think that there could be cash - from the Benni sale and possibly those ever-caring Trustees - for something else.

I hope we have a set fee agreed for Basturk just in case he does prove out to be a quality signing. I think loan deals can be great in the short term but we have to have our long term interests sorted as well.

If he can recapture his old form we might be on to one hell of a player.

You do know that you have opened the pandora's box now... no doubt we'll be dreaming of Huntelaar now... or dreading at the thought of Davies... and whoever else in between. :)

For the record, think Basturk could prove to be a good signing, though I wonder how long it would take to bring him up to match fitness.

Well with the transfer deadline rapidly approaching I guess it won't be long before names are out if there is anything happening there.

Saying that though I think the club must have kept it pretty quiet that we had a concrete offer on the table for Basturk, assume he must have completed a medical etc.

I'm pretty sure it is NOT a loan - he has cut all ties with Stuttgart and joins us for initially a 6 month deal.

To be fair, the Mail had it ten days ago. Not exactly close to the chest.

Heard there is another striker under discussion...it may come to nothing.

If I learn any more later I will share.

Clues? Premier League, possible loan/free, runs about a lot, difficulties connecting cows backsides and banjos.

I'd like us to go for Aiden McGheedy and Fortune from Celtic...Double Swoop.

I would also like us to have 15M available but them 2 wouldnt be on my list if we had that sort of cash!
