[Archived] Sam's January Targets

Recommended Posts

as long as hes in the team he'll take all set pieces, and bar 1 good corner tonight he should never be let near a dead ball situation, one swallow does'nt make a summer and all that.

As long as Sam says Pedersen is taking set-pieces he will. We hardly have a plethora of set-piece specialists to take his place.

And its not one swallow its two in a row, if his next game is of similar standard then I'll be convinced that its the role for him.

Sit him down Sam and say he'll get his terms if he plays like that till the end of the season. I'm sure he'd far rather play here than in the turkey (no offence).

You do realise that if he goes back to playing like he did for the last 2-3 seasons after he signs a new deal we could be stuck with him? No clubs have shown interest in Pedersen for several years for a reason (until recently of course because of his contract status).

We are probably looking at a 2-3 year deal and i can't see him taking a pay cut (Pedersen is one of our biggest earners if rumours are true). If he goes back to his old self then its a complete waste.

I've made my viewpoint known and i'm not going to flog a dead horse. Let's see what Sam, the board and the player decides.

There's a lot of IF's in football.

What are some of you lot on?

Sell Pederson for 1 0r 2 million and keep Julie Friggin Andrews!!!

In todays market £5,000,000 minumum the way he's playing, he is a top player, trust me!

Both I and Majiball saw months ago Ped could play centre mid, you all laughed, we said he would get on the knockdowns and score, he's done just that, he can pass, he can shoot, puts a shift in!!

I said years ago Pedersen would play better as an attacking midfielder. He doesn't have the pace to play out wide effectively. He has a lot of technical ability and when he's confident he's a very dangerous player.

Looks like Benjani could be on his way.......I wouldnt mind that to be honest - 6 month loan for now would do...better than Beattie

have to agree not sure why everyone hates benjani on here. He's not the best but puts a shift in and he's better than di santo and roberts by far at the moment. Kalinic could do with some experienced help up front

I think we've seen he can score goals when he plays in the middle. Worth re-signing. Better the devil you know and all that....

I suppose seeing him at first hand tonight you was disappointed at his all round contribution. Whist he has been poor for a long time i think in the last few weeks hes found a new lease of life and is definitely worth keeping but no doubt you'll have been sat there finding faults in his performance tonight!!

All this Pedersen in the middle talk is hardly ground breaking stuff. He's played through the middle for Norway frequently.

I'm not getting carried away with his recent good form. I'm very happy its benefiting the side, but i've seen too many anonymous performances from him to let him off the hook so easily. If he plays well for the rest of the season in the middle then it warrants another contract. But on such large terms, it isn't something to be judged on 3-4 good games.

As for Benjani, i guess you have to say that Redknapp saw something he liked, as did Eriksson. There is never a shortage of people asking about him. I think he's probably better than Roberts. I guess it all comes down to the money. He's Robertsesque, but he seems to know his strengths, Whereas Roberts wants to be a proper player, Benjani is direct and ruffles feathers. It might be inspired. It might be catastrophic.

I disagree - prior to City he was doing well...and will do much better than Roberts.

2001–2002 Grasshopper (loan) 25 (1)

2001–2005 Auxerre 72 (19)

2006–2008 Portsmouth 70 (19)

2008– Manchester City 23 (4)

Hardly banging them in. I was impressed by him against us but I don't think he is anywhere near good enough, and not an improvement on the Beattie option.

i dont know if it has been said by nicko, but i would expect amine lignanzi (sp) to sign tomorrow! bit of an insider for you there hughesy!

That would not be a surprise, it's been going on for some time.

Nothing in Dindane before anyone asks...and he won't be going to Bolton either.

Roberto Martinez went absolutely mental about Steve Bruce tonight by the way.

There were plenty around me moaning as usual about him. He couldn't have done more tonight, and got a bloody nose and probably quite a few bruises for his trouble.

Benjani was Mr WTF...good guessing from those who got it.

The good news is he won't be coming. He is likely to go to West Ham.

What's with West Ham and strikers at the moment? Are they trying to beat Sam's collection of right backs?
