That would not be a surprise, it's been going on for some time.

Nothing in Dindane before anyone asks...and he won't be going to Bolton either.

Roberto Martinez went absolutely mental about Steve Bruce tonight by the way.

why did Martinez go mental about steve Bruce? Sounds interesting

I wouldn't be too upset if we signed Benjani. Yeah, he's not the greatest, but he has good size, strength and a bit of pace. If we are only getting him on loan, then I think it's better to have another body up front, even if he is very similar to Roberts and Di Santo. I wouldn't want him long term at the moment, but if he came in and did well, then my opinion could change, especially if we offload Roberts and send Di Santo back to Chelsea in the summer.

As Dunny has re-signed and Pedersen is being played in a similar role (and may sign a new deal) Where is Basturk going to fit in. Listening to Sam after the game saying that moving inside has helped Pedersen as you need pace on the wing -so he won't play there. Having said that...he keeps putting the pace king Diouf on the wing...

Martinez blames Bruce and an agent for unsettling Figueroa.

Full story in Mirror.

The word 'corruption' was used and a potential complaint to the FA is likely.

Ironic that Bruce should have slammed Liverpool over Jones - and then does this.

Funny old game.

If it is true that Peds is permanently moving inside you do have to say we are a bit overstaffed in that area (although not too much quality...).In CM we have on the books:-

NZonzi, Reid, Dunn, Pedersen, Grella, Andrews, Basturk. Two at least need to go. On present form Andrews and Grella, plus Reid if he doesn't show real finess over the next 8 games. I suppose we should move Dunn to be considered a forward.

The one positive is that it is hard at the moment to see how Andrews will ever start for Rovers again.

im guessing so as he was at the game today, i didnt talk to him like but i think we can put 2 and 2 together.

Hasnt he been here training for the last 3 weeks now?

He must have something if we still have him here...hopefully a cheap signing then!

Nicko - Any news on strikers?

Nicko thanks for the updates is it true what that guardian article says have we already opened talks with Benjani or is that jumping the gun a bit also Nicko any idea what Benjani would prefer I know it seems a daft question but you never know or do you think Dindane might be a more realistic target?

Benjani will go to West Ham if he goes anywhere. And feel free to celebrate!

Dindane can move if someone makes a bid. I think he will go somewhere else...not Bolton despite the Mail tale. He is ok, quite quick but one of those 'why did we sign him?' players who get moves on deadline day.

ok sorry about that do you now think we will either go for Dindane or Beattie then?

Beattie has been an option for some time now. Wonder why they keep waiting? Fee too big or wages and length of contract a problem?

I don't think Dindane is likely for yourselves, but somebody will probably try their luck.

To be honest im relatively happy with what we've got. Kalinic and Olsson coming good feel like two new signings as it is. I dont think we desperately need a new striker, just another player in the mould of Dunn. Ibricic is the only name which sounds vaguely exciting

N'Zonzi could use a rest.

I doubt Andrews will be played again (absent a disaster) and I would guess he'll be sold or loaned soon. Or is that wishful thinking?

Basturk is a 6 months deal, and MGP and Reid are out of contract is 6 months. So between these three and Andrews, I can see two of the four easily not being here come the summer. Problem solved.

Well if Basturk is as injury prone as has been mentioned then really we're looking at this:

Creative Midfielders

Pedersen (usually fit)

Dunn (injury prone)

Basturk (injury prone)

Defenisve Midfielders

N'zonzi (usually fit)

Grella (injury prone)

Reid (injury prone)

Andrews can be sold, but at the same time he can play in both roles (albeit not very well) and is probably on relatively small wages. As it stands though, we have two fit midfielders and 4 injury prone ones, so it's actually not too bad because it gives us plenty of depth, providing we are currently able to afford their wages.

We need 5 decent midfielders

Keep N'zonzi, Pedersen, Dunn, review Reid in the summer and depending on his state sign 1 or 2 decent ones and we will be looking ok for a couple of years...

Basturk seems unnecessary to me, Grella is too unreliable and Andrews is plainly not good enough.

Signing Linganzi on Thursday, supposedly. And we might be looking at Mehmet Topal (excellent) or Beattie (not so excellent).

Brfcrule1, can you please read through the thread before askig stupid questions. You did it with the benjani one which had been answered on the page before, then in the post apologising for doing that you did exactly the same bloody thing. Nicko's post on the previous page said we wouldn't be going for dindane!!!!!

Could he also try to put the odd full stop into his posts. I no longer care where they go. I just can't read a whole post without pausing for breath.

Topal is exciting, but he is another defensive midfielder.
