if this talk of the hammers being after bentley has any legs, and if he is actually considering that switch, then surely we should be gettin right in there. i'd like to think we're more attractive than the jellied eel brigade. he must have fond memories of us having played his best football at ewood...

nicko, any news as to whether we're sniffin around?

The article I read sums it up I think. Tottenham don't want to lose out on a guy they spent circa 17m on, they'd be hoping to recoup as much of that as possible if not all of it. No club is going to pay anywhere near that right now as he has been out of form. Tottenham don't seem to be under any pressure to sell so I think they'll just bide their time and possibly send him out on loan on deadline day if nothing else comes up.

It definitely wouldn't hurt enquiring about a loan but I think there will be other clubs ahead of us in the queue that he would prefer to join.

You never know though and it doesn't hurt to enquire, I'd love to see him back here.

Deep breath time...

ROVERS...Celtic have come into the Morten hunt...which can only mean they are selling McGeady...don't know how far this one will go but it's an interesting development...if he goes you get more money to spend...and all of the left wing targets come into play immediately...Beattie has still not heard so I think that one is fading fast...there IS another striker on the horizon, but it is yet to be finalised - and frankly I don't know who it is but the Polish lad sounds interesting...but you need Benni to get his work permit first...it won't be Benjani either who is NOT a free despite Rovers and West Ham being told he was by some numb-nuts agents.

POMPEY...craziest day ever...could lose both keepers...Spurs in for Begovic - but there is another club trying to match them...Kaboul to Spurs, Dindane possibly to Birmingham...at £4 million he is off the Rovers radar...likely to sell anything of value and replace them with sh1te.

BOLTON...got Wilshere...three out of three...not bad...Wigan tried to nick him at the end...too late.

BURNLEY...probably best not to comment...chasing a midfielder...if I said Hayden Mullins I would be accused of destroying morale.

HULL...trying to get rid of loads to pay the wages of Naughton of Tottenham on loan.

I suspect the shambles at one or two clubs just now is Rovers-related as there is no way you should go down with Pompey and Hull in total disarray.

Like i said earlier the polish lad would tick all those boxes you mentioned about the trust willing to back Sam with more funds for a young player with huge potential (and the important future sale).

MGP has been playing well recently but i suspect that's largely down to his contract situation and trying to get a new club. After reading his comments about being linked to Fenerbahce i think that reinforces that. Selling Pedersen for Ibricic could be a decent move.

Feel for the fans of Pompey over the whole situation but if that means one relegation place secured it greatly boosts our survival chances. Sounds like the club is totally screwed and will cease to exist as i can't see a buyer.

McGeady to Birmingham then? He simply isn't good enough to play in the Premier League, I just hope Celtic take some of our closest rivals to the cleaners over such a deal ^_^

Pedersen doesn't strike me as the type of player who would leave a club like Rovers to go to Celtic. We will probably find out in the next few days as to whether he wants to play at the highest level or milk the Old Firm pot.

I have a feeling that the bottom 3 at present will be the same come the end of the season.

Nicko, 2 questions before i get ready for bed. Is it just the work permit, holding up the Benni move? Or are Rovers, some how holding the deal back to make Benni miss the game on Saturday against us?

Not certain if MGP should stay or go. He has been fairly impressive in a more central midfield position - and I think will be even better with Olsson (hopefully) reverted to the left wing against WHU. However - I am not 100% with the 5 in midfield - and would desperately like to see Kalanic given a decent partner (Di Santo for me). MGP is too lightweight to play centrally in a 4 man midfield - and hasn't played well on the left wing for a long time. If we get anything over £1m, maybe as much as £2m I would be happy - otherwise we are probably best holding onto him.

I expect Pompey will get whatever dispensations they need if it avoids a Prem club going into administration.

I posted this elsewhere but Belhadj got himself sent off tonight so he misses the third placed final in the ACN and can come back to blighty to get transferred. Never seen a player look so happy trotting off after a red card!

I've only seen him on TV in Old Firm games. Looks like he has a trick, a turn of pace and an eye for goal. £7m rules us out about 14 times even with MGP as a makeweight. All of which makes my original question a daft one!

That's the thing, he only has one trick. That being that he tries to do a few fancy stepovers before running into people

Celtic won't be selling unless they're going to get a good sum (hence the £7m figure I suggested). He simply isn't worth that, I'd rather keep Morten.

( (Please don't use that word again) me my grammar is ###### today  )
