Fylde Coast Fan
Holloway in the Blackpool Gazette says they had a "cheeky bid" of £1.5m from another Championship club and he told them he'd want three times that. Adam is a good goalscorer in the Championship but he's slow as molasses and I wouldn't want us to spend anything like £4.5m on him.
The Rover of Finland
Wouldn´t it be great to have this Blackpool guy and Andrews our starting CM pair? The best dynamic duo since Batman and Robin. OK, it´s unfair because I haven´t seen Blackpool guy playing but we wouldn´t spend our little savings Championship player. Moses though could be good investment for the future. An early update Mr. Nixon?

Moses though could be good investment for the future. An early update Mr. Nixon? I've seen Adam play and he is a very good footballer. He would improve our midfield in my opinion. £4m is not silly money for a 24 year old central midfield player who is considered by many as the best midfield player in the Championship, scores goals and has Champions League experience. He's big, he passes the ball brilliantly, gets forward, strikes a ball brilliantly, and has dominated the games I've seen. He's a born leader. If Adam Johnson is worth £7m Adam is good value at £4m. There's some Prem snobbery afoot above.

John
Whilst I think Beattie could do an OK job for us, I think the focus should be on a partner for Kalinic. I can't see those two playing together. Some pace/power would be nice, obviously along with finishing ability (Jason Roberts take note!). If no one suitable is available, lets wait until the summer, as we can get by with what we have got (just) - that might be seen as too risky though. The Prem and Championship are two different entities, take Robbie Blake, mesmorised teams in Championship, subs bench and unused in Prem!!! not just at Burnley, Birmingham too!! Poland have a special international team. They have qualified several times WC and EC past years but still their players don´t play in biggest leagues. There could be a lot of cheap potential and Rovers would definetely interest Polish players. Slovakia is another country for good scouting. True. I know Rangers fans who were sad to see Adam sold, thought he'd turn into something special. He's already got 10 or so goals in the Championship and I'm sure someone will spend £5m or so on him either this summer or next, but I'd rather it not be us. And take the 2 center backs that Birmingham now uses - doing very well in the Prem. Steven Hunt played in the Championship last season, does that mean he's crap? We are searching and doing a little bit of negotiating now. When it is final, nailed on that he is has left then we'll try and move as quickly as can to secure another player. OK, let's pick one player who's failed, and build a case around it! One ageing striker. Adam has only played in the Championship for a short while anyway, and he has breezed it. He's also played in the SPL for Rangers and the Champions League, including a draw with Barcelona. And he has played for Scotland. :!: Getting kicked out of Rangers was his wake up call, and he is now totally focused it seems to me.

Another right back then? Sorry i couldn't resist. Has to be a midfielder, whether that's a central one, AMC or a winger as our defence isn't a real priority and Sam has talked about it possibly not being a forward. Steve Moss
Before the recent deals, I would have said we need to focus on a left back, a left wing, a central midfielder and a striker. With Kalinic and Di Santo, I wouldn't really worry about a striker, as Roberts, Hoilett, Dunn and even Samba could all provide cover. Even if Roberts heads to the Wolves, I think striker can wait until the summer. Between Basturk and Linganzi the central midfield has been taken care of. So I'm beating that Sam is eyeing up a left back (working with the theory that you improve the team from the back and work your way forward) or a left wing (under the theory we need more goals). Especially as MGP seems more suited to a central midfield role and assuming he stays.

Givet, Jacobsen, Chimbonda, Olsson and Emerton can all play at full back if needed. I reckon a pacy, tricky winger is on the cards, i hope Ibricic. We need somone who can work with the strikers along with the likes of Hoilett, Pedersen and Dunn. With Pedersen playing in the middle it only really leaves Hoilett and Diouf as wingers with maybe Olsson as well. I agree on not needing another striker. As it stands, Sam's version of 4-5-1, which is more akin to a 4-3-3, doesnt really require another out and out striker.

Iceman
Would love to see Hoilett, play up front with Kalinic. Have Dunn in behind them, and Basturk and Mgp in central midfield. Olsson on the left and Emerton down the right. Only problem, is that there wont be an defensive midfielder in there. Robbo Chimbonda Nelsen Samba Givet Emerton Basturk Mgp Olsson Dunn Kalinic Oops, no space for Hoilett. Unless Bert goes to right back, and Hoilett to right wing. 47er
I'm not slagging off Nzonzi, I am simply saying that he isn't as good as some fans make out, especially when it comes to tackling. He can pick out a pass though. Pedersen is more deserving than Andrews of the odd boo. We all know that Keith isn't the most talented player in the world but he always gives 100%. Pedersen is the biggest coward to ever play the game at times...then he goes for the odd header like the other night and almost scores, taking Melchiot out in the process . He can mix it up, he needs to do so more often. No Rovers player is deserving of a boo. Its cowardly and achieves the opposite result to the one intended. Keith gives 100% alright but of what? No way does he have Pedersen's talent.

I agree even Keef, but let me say this, there is no argument, Andrews does not have talent as a footballer, that is a fact, well certainly not at premiership level and Wolves and Hull were of the same opinion at Championship level!! I think the gaping hole is in central midfield. Basturk may sort it, but may not. Linganzi is a kid, one for the future, I would think. Other than N'Zonzi, who has looked convincing in central mid? Not Andrews, Emerton, Reid, Pedersen or Grella for me. Reid and Grella never get going cos of injuries. Pedersen has done ok but he is a long way off being the full package. Sam should have focused his resources on this one position, I think. A proper midfield player who can bring the strikers and wingers into the game more effectively. We don't move the ball well enough from defence to attack, for me. And Nico needs some proper service cos at the moment he can only pick up scraps from set pieces in the box. He has more to offer if we can supply him some decent service. Like I said, maybe Basturk will do that. I've no idea. I hope so. It feels a bit hopeful though.
