The Roberts link : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1247056/Spurs-court-Kyle-Naughton-suitors-Birmingham-join-Boselli-queue-Stokes-battle-Huseklepp-Wolves-step-pursuit-Rover-Roberts--THE-INSIDER.html

I'd be happy with Roberts & McCarthy out with Beattie in. Ideally another transfer in too, tho not neccessarily another striker.

Can anyone confirm if the 42m for Roberts is likely to be in installments or paid upfront? Unless were getting it upfront I'd be tempted to say no, don't think it's worthwhile otherwise.

WHAT????

Roberts isn't going to Citeh for 42m at all?? I can't believe that was a joke, it seemed so genuine!

Oh well at least Ronaldo's coming I guess.

He got his 42m mixed up with 42p unfortunately and yes Ronaldo McDonaldo is making his way across Bolton Road as we speak!!!

Sportsmail revealed Mick McCarthy's interest earlier this month and, while he has tried to land other targets too, he wanted a striker he knew and who had Premier League experience.

Most managers have a similar philosophy in January and don't necessarily want to take risks on players who need time to adapt. That is essential in Wolves' situation as they face a relegation fight and find their strikers struggling in front of goal.

I had to laugh at that they need a striker to adapt as all their strikers are struggling in front of goal well they will add another to that list the words cows a*** & banjo spring to mind & 2m for a 32 yr old is good business I think would very much like this to go through as I still have nightmares about that game against sunderland involving roberts and an open goal my cat could have tucked that away!

ROBERTS subject to a 42M bid from city.

you are joking right or unless Mancini has been smoking some wacky backy right or don't tell me he has been for a night on the raz and suddenly thinks Roberts is a finisher tell me those last 2 are jokes right?

Don't worry Brfcrule1. The rest of the board don't appreciate the current financial climate.

When Ronaldo is in Blue & White and we are sat on 40 million from Roberts, you'll be able to say:

"See I knew it was possible."

Keep it up. Instant legend

The fact that someone is going to pay 2 mill for Roberts is more laughable than anything read over the last few pages

But if he does go then we HAVE to sign a striker, I think if Roberts goes its Beattie, if only Benni goes its the croat Ibricic.

And C. Adam will not leave Blackpool for anything less than than 4 mill or Holloway would walk as he regards him a major asset.

From a poster on another site, he is from Hadjuk, well a supporter.

"Hajduk Split president said that he will not sell Ibricic, in our media is speculation that Blackburn˙s offer was to low, only 3,5 mil Euro and Hajduk want at least 6 mil Euro... Ibricic and Kalinic played very well together, Ibricic was attacking midfielder and in many games he played as 2nd "supporting" striker behind Kalinic... Ibricic is not the quickiest player on earth, but he is very talented and smart player."

Milking the cow for every drop I guess, 5m puts a different light on the matter.

Very underwhelmed with the news on our front.

So its unclear what will happen if Benni leaves. It could be Beattie, may be Ibricic, or could a random third man who is speculated as the Pole Lewadonski (Sp.).

At the same time, Roberts and MGP are both linked away, but is there time to sell them and replace them? I cant see it.

Yet, dead wood like Andrews is overlooked and seemingly safe for another half season. I want to know is it a FACT that Fulham bid for him in the summer or its speculation?

Could be mind games, which I doubt, but no chance MGP will be leaving going by Sam's comments yesterday, replacement or not.

Plus on the deadwood, difficult to sell if no one wants them.

Rovers Lanuch Striker Bid

Lancashire Telegraph speculate that it is Benjani. Sam's comments in the article saying that he wants someone who could make an immediate impact, suggests to me that he is looking for someone who is experienced/established, that would appear to rule out Ibiric (sp).

Must be Benjani, the player we have bid for. I know there could be agent talk, but we were linked strongly last summer and again now.

Seems like he Sunderland want him too though.

Saving some of the best gossip for Sunday as we will have a Terry-Bridge fest in the papers tomorrow.

Hi Nicko, is that Terry-Bridge the news about John Terry "allegedly" having an affair with the wife of a teammate?

If it is, you better run it past, its already in the papers here in Singapore.

After reading that i'm starting to feel sick !!! And if we did sign Benjani i think i will be !!!

I've seen him a bit over the last few weeks & he certainly ain't the player for us - Bone idol !! absolute no work rate about him, blimey we've just got shut of one, we dont want another !!

As i see it now Benni & Roberts out - Beattie & Ibiric in & i think the majority would be happy with that, i certainly would be.

Now where's that toilet !!!!

Sky Sports News have just reported that Mancini is so desperate to land the goal machine that is Jason Roberts, he's now upped his bid to £50 mill and thrown in Ireland as well. Thats the island, not the player. Apparently he's mates with Trappatoni who has a bit of clout over there......

Just been reported on SSN Roberts has failed his medical at City therefore, we are stuck with him.

Best get the superglue out then.

So is Roberts really talking to Wolves??? If he goes Beattie will be flying in.

I wonder who we'll get to replace Benni though, if anyone.

[/quote

More like Beattie will replace Benni, Roberts is in a league of his own, couldn't score in a brothel.

Dunn wants Beattie.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/David-Dunn-urges-Blackburn-to-snap-up-James-Beattie-from-Stoke-article305309.html

Dunn also states that Spain was on the radar before he re-signed for Rovers, but he stuck with the Rovers for family reason. And apparently Dunn was/is not the disruption in the dressing room.

Wolves have held talks with Roberts in advance of a 2 million pound deal.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1247202/Wolves-target-2m-Blackburn-striker-Jason-Roberts.html

I, for one, think it an excellent price for Roberts. However, using the sale proceeds to buy a Benjani or Beattie seems to be more of the same. What's the point? I'd rather pick up a Moses type, who can be part of the club's future, as opposed to retreads (and is home grown and costs what we're selling Roberts for). And we're 11th without significant contribution from our strike force, so it wouldn't be that risky of a move.

Push comes to shove I'd take Beattie over Benjani, as at least he's from the area (which would presumably help with his motivation) and would help our home grown rule requirements.
