[Archived] Sam's January Targets

Recommended Posts

... he's now upped his bid to £50 mill and thrown in Ireland as well. Thats the island, not the player.

John Williams has just been on SSN (again) - we've turned their offer down apparently as "we've nowhere to put it"

Now I'm no expert in moving countries but surely there's room for Ireland next to Jersey? Yet again the Trust have turned their backs on us, and the good people of Ireland for that matter, plus of course Jason Roberts won't be too happy I'd have thought.

We're now stuck with an unhappy and unmotivated player worth £50m + a nice country when Sam could have gone out and spent all that money on an 9 foot target man and gone on occasional heavily discounted short breaks to Sunny Ireland nr Jersey.

BENJANI...the fee and length of contract make it very unlikely Rovers will come in...they did meet an agent in the deal last week...now the agent is talking to Sunderland who want him in case Kenwyne Jones finally leaves...that Benjani deal will include a long medical methinks.

BEATTIE...starting to think this will happen if Roberts goes...which would actually be pretty fair thinking.

MYSTERY STRIKER...there is another option out there, a deal is teed up, but I still don't have the name although I do have a suspicion about the Pole.

MOVES...loads of moves being set up and some are even going on...people leave it so late...next three days will be manic.

Say it's true guv!

I would be very happy with our front 4 being Di Santo, Kalinic, Beattie and Lewandowski.

Roberts might be going. THE BEST THING IVE EVER READ ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD.

Please to god let this happen. Please. I beg.

If we are getting rid of Roberts and are going to replace him with Benjani . Then I would just keep Roberts instead ,at least he makes an effort. From what I have seem of Benjani on TV this season he is pants.

Beattie hardly sets the pulses racing but as a 4th choice striker and Robert's replacement he's OK if he's cheap. As a Macarthy replacement then no thanks.

It's pretty obvious that given chance Sam Allardyce will not rate any centre forward who is actually worse than absolutely ###### poor in the air.

So nicko you are saying both Benni and Roberts could be leaving, meaning Beattie replaces the latter, and a mystery player replaces the former?

Benni is as good as gone. If Roberts does move then it would be a major result as the manager has never reallly been a fan of either.

It would make Beattie all the more comfortable a signing - one oldie for two oldies deal - that ticks a lot of boxes.

And it leaves the 'mystery' striker option open to be done too.

So he is still a mystery man to everyone outside the inner circle.

Benni out > Beattie in

Roberts out > Lewandowski in

Van Herden out > Basturk in

Zurab out > Amine in

If we can end the window like that then id be very happy.....

And if someone takes Andrews off us too then id be delighted!!!

I'll 2nd that aswell Hughesy, i suppose todays teamsheet & Stoke's will tell us all we need to know.

It could be he has already been named...and the rumour is being put round to put rival targets and clubs off guard.

Some lies get told at this time of the window just for effect.

Is that a fact? I find it strange that Sam wouldn't rate either Roberts or McCarthy but gave them the no. 9 and 10 jersey this season.

Just wondering though if we do bring in say Beattie or Lewandowski whats going to happen to our tactics? On the evidence so far Sam clearly favours playing a lone striker, having four strikers around with only one playing often is going to cause problems and potential unrest. I'm not saying i am opposed to bringing in strikers in but what would be the point if we are going to keep going down that lone striker route.

Kalinic for me has to play and has to start up front every game. Putting him in the hole behind Beattie or on the wing would be a stupid move.

I think there may have to be a change of tactics depending on what transfer moves we may make. Going to be interested to see what Sam has in mind.

And then played Di Santo and Kalinic ahead of them...or have I missed something?

Will someone have an exclusive in the Sundays if Roberts goes. ;)

Not me. I've got about 15 or 16 transfer tales...and not a new Rovers line among them.

The real mental stuff is going on elsewhere.

The same numbers they had last season!!!!

Roque was number 9 last season.

The numbers were assigned before Kalinic came, and I doubt it that Di Santo would've contested J-Rob for the number 9 shirt. Seniority etc.

Didn't watch him against us then I take it? Involved in most of the goals

Had kalinic signed when squad numbers were given out? I'm sure Di Santo hadn't.

If thats the case it's hardly strange at all.

sorry budha just read down and noticed you said the same.

In your opinion Nicko, do you thinks it's possible that if Benni, Roberts and Pedersen were ALL to be sold this window, that we could afford to get Beattie, 'Mystery' and Ibricic in?? or would we only have the budget for two of the three??
