And then played Di Santo and Kalinic ahead of them...or have I missed something?

Eh he only started playing Kalinic recently and was playing Roberts at the start of the season, but then replaced him with Di Santo. I can't remember if Roberts and McCarthy have ever played together this season, but they've basically been injured sporadically this season, so the forward line has been changing all the time. Also, I haven't really seen him say anything remotely negative about either player in the press. Only comments I can remember is him wanting to use Roberts as the 'bulldog' and stating McCarthy is a quality player with a bad attitude. I might be wrong, but it didn't seem to me like Sam had a dislike for either player.

I'd be OK with Beattie coming in as long as Sam sticks to using Kalinic up front if playing with only one striker. Would hate to see Kalinic on the bench and tactics reverted to long balls up to Beattie. We've shown that we actually can play some decent football in our latest 2-3 games, and I'd like to see us continute that progress.

Hasn't he only started like 2 games for them this season? He's not great, but he's decent... maybe marginally better than Roberts.

Exactly, how is he supposed to score if he's not getting games? Ewoodpo your argument is totally void.

After reading that i'm starting to feel sick !!! And if we did sign Benjani i think i will be !!!

I've seen him a bit over the last few weeks & he certainly ain't the player for us - Bone idol !! absolute no work rate about him, blimey we've just got shut of one, we dont want another !!

As i see it now Benni & Roberts out - Beattie & Ibiric in & i think the majority would be happy with that, i certainly would be.

Now where's that toilet !!!!

benjani no workrate? you are having a laugh mate! admit it, you`ve never even seen the guy play have you? he has been outstanding for city over the last few games purely because of an IMMENSE workrate!

and you`d rather have beattie, the career long `goalhanger`? you really are just wanting him because he`s from blackburn aren`t you? try actually watching the game instead of beliving in fairy stories.

In your opinion Nicko, do you thinks it's possible that if Benni, Roberts and Pedersen were ALL to be sold this window, that we could afford to get Beattie, 'Mystery' and Ibricic in?? or would we only have the budget for two of the three??

The problem is when things are left as late as this that plans go out of the window. There is supposed to be someone ready to drop in if he goes. We shall see.

Benni will go. So you will probably need a striker, but could get away without one and not be fatally wounded.

However if Roberts goes you will - I believe - try to do the Beattie thing in a rush.

Morten's is a difficult case. He holds the cards in the overall long-term picture here, but the club have the say before the window. He could sign a pre-contract with someone or just let his deal run down. If he did leave before the window shuts you would be dictating the price and the decision. So that one is tricky. I don't think anyone is convinced about Ibricic unless the price is right. Hard one to do at this stage.

Benjani is not the workaholic he was at Portsmouth. Had injuries since. And that would make a medical a must. I think that thought came and went.

nicko, i saw with my own eyes benjani tear rovers apart through superb workrate and creativity. that was only a few weeks ago.

i`ve not seen beattie do anything bar head in a few efforts from zero yards out LAST SEASON, and his movement is atrocious. even sheff utd fans thought he was lazy and not a team player, that was at championship level!

Didn't we sell Beattie in the first place partly because he was always out on the razz with Dunn? Pretty sure that was the case.

i have to say that isn`t true. i think they`ve only become friends as their careers have progressed, dunn was only very young when beattie was at rovers, probably too young to be out on the razz(as you put it).

they share the same set of mates locally however, and they are very much the type to have them out on the razz with them every week. for this reason i think it`d be a bad move for rovers to make.

i`d expect this type of thing to become more and more prevalent if it happens..

This chap had one good season at Pompey since then he has done very little. Regarding not getting games if he was good enough he would have got more games than he has played at City. Don't tell me that he has a lot of competition there he was bought prior to the Arabs taking over. Roberts might not be a natural goal scorer however, he will try he does miss a lot but, generally gets himself into the right positions.

I think you will find he was out injured for quite some time before the arabs took over

Not getting gmes at City, with the squad they have, is hardly shameful.

Fringe players are EXACTLY the type of players that teams like us have to buy, it's as simple as that.

But not fringe players with £50k+/wk to replace similar player (Roberts) with probably significantly smaller wages.

So would you prefer to have a player who has only played 23 games and scored 4 goals since 2008. If we were to purchase Benjani he would be expecting at least 40k per week in wages along with a two to three year contract. Instead of buying him we should really take a look at Moses.
