Zola confirms that the Benni deal is done after the Rovers game........

Benjani having Medical at Sunderland tonight.......................

"It looks like it is done and next week he should be coming to train with us," Zola the Hammers boss said.

"I do not know the terms yet, but they have told me the deal is done.

"He should be available for the next game.

Benni Deal Done!

Yeah, Benjani looks like he is off to Sunderland.

So, if we were to sign a striker, down to Beattie now (out of the players we have been publicly linked with).

The commentators during the game also alluded to it a number of times.

Now, lets see who is coming in to replace him. Honestly after the scare of being linked with Benjani, Ill take anyone over him.

About bloody time this transfer window has had a distinct lack of unleaded's insight

Wigan is probably his destination.

If he ends up at Wigan it's a opportunity missed by Sam to pick up a very promising player.

12.45 A host of clubs are ready to battle it out for the signature of Keith Treacy.

. . .

12.15 David Dunn has called on the Blackburn hierarchy to do all they can to land Stoke striker James Beattie.

12.05 Kilmarnock are hoping to sign Blackburn's Maceo Rigters, skysports.com understands.

11.57 Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce has admitted he would like to lure Stoke striker James Beattie back to Ewood Park to replace Benni McCarthy.

Some good news in the above. We might lighten the wage bill and give Sam more flexibility in the summer.

Victor Moses on way to Wigwam after £2.5m fee agreed according to Sky.

Damb double damb, we could have had him.

I think, if the move works out, he will be worth (sold for) at least 3-4 times that amount within 2 years to another English side. I am also certain Palace will have a sell on fee too.

Sounds like definitely worth a shot, and considering widely speculated notion that our board is willing to allow some spending for an "investment" player, doesnt this guy fit the bill?

Maybe we are looking for players to make an immediate impact.

imagine there is a sell on fee and a min. release clause his agent won't be wanting him staying at wigan long if all the hype with this fella amounts to anything, i'd sooner go for 27-28 year olds(that are better than andrews/grella/robinson/anyone ince would buy) we can hold on to for a few years too old for the big teams to bother with, any half decent youngster would be here 5 minutes before jumping ship. If you can get good youngsters on long contracts with no clauses at all i.e youth team products that would be the ideal but our youth system seems turd in comparison to a hell of a lot of clubs.

Immediate impact, I just can not see a player like Beattie making an immediate impact. As we all know Sam likes to play one upfront, what would happen to Kalinic if he brought a player like Beattie in ?

I don't get it. Benni goes and Allardyce indicates that we may replace with another player not neccessarily a forward. All we are linked with is Benjani and Beattie. Neither of whom are any better than we have. If Sam is determined to stick with one up front and we have Dunn/Basturk that can play behind, surely it is the left/right midfield/wing positions that need addressing. ie DIOUF.

It´s obvious Beattie will arrive Ewood Park this window. West Ham don´t need him any more and Fulham seem to get that Roma fellow on loan. Just hope Stoke wants to get rid of him and Benni money is enough to buy him. Beattie type striker is a great partner for Kalinic. Do we player two in front is another question. Niko is gotta be still the first choice.

Nicko, any word of Lew..I mean Mr.X from abroad?

BTW..never seen this Moses playing but he seems to go on very cheap to Latics..

There has to be something wrong with this fella. Reportedly tens of clubs watching him from big European clubs to big PL clubs, and the only PL club to make an offer is Wigan?

The main reason why is probably that a City, United or Chelsea want to see how he does for a season or two in the premier league then if he does well they will poach him. He might be showing huge potential but he hasn't played at the highest level yet.

If all the talk about how good he can be is true Wigan have made a decent signing and will make a nice profit on him.

Any news tonight Nicko?

Just realised that I normally sit and watch the last couple of hours of the transfer window explode on SSN, but I can't this time becasue I'll not be back from work in time :(

I can buy that the really big clubs being interested is just agent's bullshit, but why aren't other established middle table clubs in for him? Sunderland, Brum, Fulham, Everton, West Ham.. they should be able to fork out the £2,5M easily - if that's the problem in our case. Sunderland will rather take Benjani for the same price (lower fee, higher wages)? He has got to be mental, crock or all talk, no show.

Edit: and Wigan is only in for him because they couldn't get Ruben from Villarreal Reserves.
