Blackpool player???

Some guy claiming a £4m move for Charlie to rovers?? WTF is he?

Covered on the last five or so pages.

Charlie Adam, 24-ish, goalscoring midfielder. Loaned to Blackpool from Rangers last season, made permanent in the summer for around £500k. He's got 10 or 11 goals in the fizzy pop this season and (if you believe the gossip) has Forest, Sunderland, Birmingham and a few other clubs trying to sign him. Holloway says Boro bid £1.5m for him but he'd want three times that.

Good player, not sure how he'd do in the Prem and not worth £4.5m. Not what we need either, really, so there's nothing in this.

Think big Sam needs to know that Beattie only works well with a partner and not your one up front role!

Hey yeah! Allardyce would never know that if you hadn't mentioned it. Good spot. You'd better write to him Jal, failing that phone him up I'm sure that he'll be suited.

Truth is (and not that I'm eager for us to get him) Beattie played in a very 4-4-1-1 at Southampton.

The last Sunday of the transfer deadline and it most definately has to be the worst ever for news of signings.

Nicko, the info we have had from you has always been first class and for the first time in your life as a member of this forum there is NOTHING about our beloved team, you have let us ALL down my friend !!!

The papers dont make decent reading as well.

Another mundane Sunday for me, no decent football on - yes Manure v arsenal doesnt fill me with confidence of it being a classic and Bafrca were on last night.

Walk with the dog in the snow around Cuerden Valley, couple of pints at lunchtime, evening curry and a film for me !

I dont see how Nicko has let us down at all. First of all he's not obliged to say anything, and did you ever stop to think that maybe there is no news regarding Rovers to discuss?? Remember we have already made two signings this window and a third will only come if and when the Benni deal is finalised. With Di Santo, Roberts and Kalinic on the books do we really need a fourth striker if were playing 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1...Why rush into signing someone like Beattie when he wont add anything when we can wait until the summer. We dont have the money to buy any great additions so why waste the little money we have just for the sake of it.

He hasnt let us down but it seems we have completely taken a back-seat to other transfer news and that could be cause there is virtually no activity.

Nicko, would it hurt now to release the name of the player we are moving for considering that we are in the last 30 or so hours of the window?

3 of the big 4 have disgracefully got themselves in a borrassic state. In the past their profligacy fuelled the entire market place. The rest of us living in the real world cannot spend what we don't have.

btw we all hated losing the likes of Hughes, RSC, Bentley, Warnock and to a lesser extent and for a much different reason Freidel but the current situation really does put a different slant on why the Trust has appeared to cash in over the past 18 months and sold anything of value that isn't nailed down. I think I'm safe in saying that if we'd kept them and tried to sell them now we'd have brought in far less booty.

Full credit to the business acumen behind the scenes at BRFC for spotting this coming and acting accordingly. As Jack said BRFC is a business and must be run along business lines i.e. self financing. The only gripe that any of us can have is that we employed an idiot to find the necessary replacements and that all that clown could turn up was the perpetually injured Grella, a poorer goalkeeper, a 4th div midfielder and the abomination that is Robbie Fowler. Just under 10 million in total down the pan not counting wages!

Wing Wizard Windy Miller ....This might offer an answer to your post too.

Obviously it would if he's got the tip on the understanding that he doesn't publish till he gets the nod. Otherwise nobody will ever tell him anything confidential in future.

I'm rather suprised that anyone needed to ask that question.

Perpetually injured Grella - what was his previous injury record like ?

A poorer goalkeeper - we were never going to replace Friedel with a like for like. I actually think Robinson is the best we could have got at the time.

A 4th div midfieler - I'll give you that one. Having said that - I can see aspects of Andrews game that would give you hope if he was 19 or 20 - shame he is a lot older than that

Robbie Fowler - a bit of a drain on our wages. A gamble - but the sort of gamble our finances tend to dictate.

As has been stated many times by both the manager and Nicko himself, we don't have any money.

Yes we've got a bit from the Big Mac deal, but who can you buy for 2m thats going to make an impact?

They never learn Theno!! Walls have ears etc has no resonance whatsoever to the younger "I want....and Iwant it now" generation.

Far be it for us Rovers fans to be sceptical....but what price the £2 million Benni money 'disappearing' and no replacement signed?

Would fit well with our transfer policy of late.

It would indeed. That £2 million will be long gone before Sam gets anywhere near it.

Beattie, im not sure we need him. Reason being, that Sam will continue to play 1 up front. I would have prefered, that we went for a right winger instead, or brought Ibricic in as a midfielder/striker.
