Perpetually injured Grella - what was his previous injury record like ? INJURY PRONE I THINK.

A poorer goalkeeper - we were never going to replace Friedel with a like for like. I actually think Robinson is the best we could have got at the time. FREIDEL IS MILES BETTER 2 YEARS ON. VILLAINS WERE CHANTING HIS NAME YESTERDAY. :angry:

WE OFTEN SPECULATED THAT BRAD GAINED US 6-9 POINTS PER SEASON ON HIS OWN. IF THAT COULD BE PROVEN THEN WE WOULD BE BETTER OFF FINANCIALLY TO HAVE KEPT HIM.

A 4th div midfieler - I'll give you that one. Having said that - I can see aspects of Andrews game that would give you hope if he was 19 or 20 - shame he is a lot older than that :wacko: IT WOULD GIVE ME HOPE THAT SOMEBODY FROM A LOWER DIV WOULD BUY HIM. WAGES HE'LL BE ON NOW WILL PRECLUDE THAT TILL HIS CONTRACT IS UP.

BTW ANYBODY NOTICE HIS ENTRANCE YESTERDAY? HE RAN ON POINTING FFS! :rolleyes::lol:

Robbie Fowler - a bit of a drain on our wages. A gamble - but the sort of gamble our finances tend to dictate.

NOT EVEN A GAMBLE. FOWLER WAS AN ABSOLUTE CERTAIN DUD....HE HAD BEEN FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS :angry2:

THE LATE BERNARD MANNING SAID IF FOWLER HAD BEEN MARK CHAPMAN AND FIRED THOSE 5 BULLETS AT JOHN LENNON HE'D STILL BE ALIVE TODAY.

Obviously there are some still want us to follow the examples set by Pompey and Hull.

The days of us spending money are long gone. Get used to it.

It makes transfer windows far less stressful.

Expect to sign no one then any signings are a bonus except if they are Andrews and Fowler.

I said there was loads going on...but nothing really new Rovers-wise.

Must be the case as your manager is on Tv and not exactly chasing players by the looks.

BENNI...done, seems to have been a 'delay' in the permit paperwork before the two sides met.

BEATTIE...it's about the valuation...Stoke want him out, Rovers want a bargain...so there could be a compromise...rumours of rival interest...maybe, maybe not.

BENJANI...think he is off the radar for now...thankfully.

MYSTERY MAN...trying to find out if that one has moved...no joy yet.

MORTEN...the longer it goes the less likely he moves in the window...on current form that is not exactly bad news, although you won't get a fee in the summer...hey ho...he has paid his way down the years to be fair.

Elsewhere...BIRMINGHAM chasing two or three new strikers...BURNLEY tried for a striker on loan today which is odd...PORTSMOUTH trying to keep some of their team together...ROBBIE KEANE wanted by West Ham and Sunderland...ADAM JOHNSON seems to prefer Man City over Chelsea and that could happen fast.

Lots of clubs still looking, lots of players still available.

Let the last dance at the disco begin.

3 of the big 4 have disgracefully got themselves in a borrassic state. In the past their profligacy fuelled the entire market place. The rest of us living in the real world cannot spend what we don't have.

btw we all hated losing the likes of Hughes, RSC, Bentley, Warnock and to a lesser extent and for a much different reason Freidel but the current situation really does put a different slant on why the Trust has appeared to cash in over the past 18 months and sold anything of value that isn't nailed down. I think I'm safe in saying that if we'd kept them and tried to sell them now we'd have brought in far less booty.

Full credit to the business acumen behind the scenes at BRFC for spotting this coming and acting accordingly. As Jack said BRFC is a business and must be run along business lines i.e. self financing. The only gripe that any of us can have is that we employed an idiot to find the necessary replacements and that all that clown could turn up was the perpetually injured Grella, a poorer goalkeeper, a 4th div midfielder and the abomination that is Robbie Fowler. Just under 10 million in total down the pan not counting wages! :angry:

Wing Wizard Windy Miller ....This might offer an answer to your post too.

Where's the £10m? Grella was £4m, Robinson was £2.5m. Fowler was free, naturally and Andrews was £700k.

Just heard we had been sniffing around Ben Arfa earlier in the window and my mate in France said that Lyon said the only player they wanted to loan out was some young striker called Yannis Tafer, he doesn't think we'd be interested though, wouldn't fit in to our style apparently.

Just trying to catch up with all this thread and searched wikipedia for the polish fella, found that he has signed for us according to that? have I missed something? and how much is 3.5million polish money??

Perhaps one shouldn't trust Wiki. 3,5M zlotych is about £0,75M.

None of those names will work or be available Iceman.

I have a feeling its James Beattie and to be honest I wont be TOO disappointed as I think he has a point to prove plus he definitely has talent. He will cause aerial problems for opposition sides too. Not the worst signing.

Yeah I won't be too disappointed with Beattie. Think he would definately do a job. When he first went to Stoke is was absolutely banging them in. On another note, I made a bet yesterday with someone who reckons Benni Mac will get 8 goals for West ham by the end of the season......EASY MONEY!!!
