What and pay a few more million once somebody has banged a few in at South Africa? No thanks.

We've known all month that Benni was leaving, so we shouldn't be panicked into buying a Dindane or Benjani or whoever it may be. If Sam didn't want a striker then we should have lined somebody else up.

I too wouldn't mind knowing what our scouts do for the majority of the season. Their motto must be "if all else fails resort to plan A".

I'll happily eat my words BTW when we parade a new striker or midfielder who nobody had seen on our radar.

I'm sure he has a few strikers lined up, but those said strikers will have other clubs offering deals too. Not many of them will have been holding out for a move to Blackburn when other offers are on the table. I'd say one striker out of all the said strikers would jump at a move to Ewood, and not many seem to want him here.

There's no point buying for buying's sake, that's why other clubs are in trouble. We have lost Big Mac from the squad, he has not been the first name on the teamsheet all season and has only appeared in half our games so far. With Di Santo, Roberts & Arnold queueing up behind Kalinic we are not that short on forwards with the formations Sam tends to play.

His goal scoring record is atrocious too. Benjani's that is. I would take Beattie miles ahead of the other two and would prefer Dindane if its between him and Benji boy.

If we have to get one of the three I really couldn't give a flying monkeys who it is:

Benjani: Couldn't hit a barn door, suspect to injuries, like Roberts without so much power.

Dindane: Speedy which would help but again makes Roberts look deadly.

Beattie: Sign this guy and I can guarantee we will play more long ball because he can actually head a ball. But a 2+ year deal for a 31 year old who'se seen his best days - no thanks.

Exciting isn't it!

Assuming both Benni and Roberts go which i hope happens considering how Benni's burnt his bridges and Roberts is just a terrible football player, out of Beattie, Dindane or Benjani id rather we buy in another right back personally. If Dindane comes in on loan I could just about accept that, in the same way that if you turn up to a blind date and the girl you meet up with is 5 stone overweight, talks far too much and has a facial hair problem, you would be far from happy, but for that one night she might just do the job.

It would be great to loan Roque Santa Cruz in the remain season. He was always on the bench this season.

Won't happen. Injured for another long spell and big wages.

Raul is looking a Premiership club per the Sunday gossip columns

Looking at buying one?

No I'm not now you come to mention it!

Defo Sven re Benjani.

It was definately Sven who signed Benjani, in the January window before he was sacked 2 years ago now.

Apologies if this has already been posted but SSN are currently showing a ticker saying Benjani is in talks with us regarding a proposed move.

It's been mentioned and i'm sure many Rovers fans are not happy with this.

I've been following the Mail's transfer tracker as well and the say the same about Dindane being too pricey so we are now looking at Benjani:

10.50: Sportsmail understands that Blackburn are trying again for Benjani as Dindane has proved to be too pricey.

wigan got moses for 2.5 mil :(

If we end up lumped with Beattie for a similar fee (and bigger wages?), I will find this utterly enraging.

I was going to keep out of this until there is something concrete, but...

Sky get their stuff from one of Benjani's agents. So beware.

The Dindane cash/fee/agents scramble thing is not helping that one.

This late scramble all round the Premier League really is quite pathetic.

am i the only who prefers, that we save the money.?

with the league table in mind and the fact we only play 1 striker, i really dont feel its a necessety.

in emergency situations, put samba upfront.

Exactly. Better no deal than a bad deal.

What is the point of buying another striker when Sam will not play two togther.

we should save the money for when players are cheaper in the summer. With Di Santo and Roberts as back up we dont need another striker.

We are already an overly large squad why add more people in unless its someone really worthwhile then lets just leave it and be happy with what we have.

No, I agree with you mate....seems like we're just desparate to sign someone, anyone...maybe sam thinks the money will disappear between now and summer if he don't spend it...

I too am rapidly coming to the conclusion that we are better not to spend than be panicked into spending unwisely. And if the cash disappears into paying off debts then we are presumably in better standing with the bank if we need to borrow a bit extra at some point. Money saved does not have to disappear into a black hole.

I'm not comfortable moving our best centre half up front, weakens the defence. And with Zurab out on loan, our only acceptable cover there is Givet (Chimbonda isnt suited to this role, sorry...personally I don't like seeing Givet there either, but I have noticed people don't share this opinion). One injury there and Samba up front is impossible anyway.
