I'm not comfortable moving our best centre half up front, weakens the defence. And with Zurab out on loan, our only acceptable cover there is Givet (Chimbonda isnt suited to this role, sorry...personally I don't like seeing Givet there either, but I have noticed people don't share this opinion). One injury there and Samba up front is impossible anyway.

i respectfully disagree sir.

my point is, we are not ín any way desperate. leageu looking good, got 3 guys fighting for 1 spot, seems reasonable to me.

in the current financial climate, it woulndt be a bad thing, to save benni´s wages plus the transfer fee.

Then in the summer, sam would have more to juggle with. Which he seems to do very well.

"1217: League One outfit Colchester have made the deal of on-loan midfielder David Prutton permanent after Leeds agreed to cancel his contract. And in the Championship, Leicester have released veteran striker Paul Dickov."

Problem solved.

"Rochdale have signed Bolton striker Temitope Obadeyi and Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Frank Fielding on loan until the end of the season and extended the loan of midfielder Will Atkinson from Hull.

Keith Hill working miracles at Spotland... maybe he can be our next manager!

See Sutton ain't doing to bad a job either at Lincoln...

The best deal we could go for right now would be to bring in Beattie on loan until the end of the season with first refusal in the summer.

Seven points from our last three games has pretty much secured our status in the league, so we should not be panic buying (and Benjani and Dindane scream 'panic buy' to me). With Kalinic performing brilliantly at the moment, Di Santo hungry to regain his place in the team and Roberts there to provide a bit of experience, missing our on a striker wouldn't be disastrous. Obviously, we would need to address this position in the summer though.

Yeah, well, it would only need an injury/suspension to a couple of our three strikers and we would be watching our centre half trying to get on the end of twenty foot high howitzers again.

The three strikers "fighting for the first team spot have scored 5 PL goals between them and Roberts has three of them. Every club needs 4 strikers minimum and I for one, would be mightily disappointed if we didn't replace McCarthy.

Are we running a PL club here or a park team?

Ideally Den, but remember that we play one up top in the majority of games. Furthermore, while I do agree that we shoud always look to have four strikers on the books at the start of the season, we should easily be able to cope with three srikers for the 14 games that we have remaining. We'd need simultaneously injuries and suspensions to all three of our strikers for it to come to Samba up front again.

Four strikers on the books;

1. Kalinic

2. Di Santo

3. Roberts

4. Junior

Not necessarly in one lump WWWM. The days of transfer fees are receding fast. Unfortunately, and it is calamitous for football (but good for yacht makers, tatooists and dealers in bling tatt) the days of signing on fees and ludicrous wages are taking over. Personally I've no idea why it's taken so long post Bosman and freedom of contract.

Be it a fee or 'free' the club still won't be able to bring in two decent forwards in the summer and strengthen other areas. Not investing the Benni money in a player like Moses or Lewanowski(sp) etc seems very short sighted.

Short sighted for not spending money on an unproven player? We don't have money to throw away. There is no guarantee that Moses can do it in the Prem, that's why he's gone to Wigan and not a bigger club.

Is the sort of player that you would like to sign going to be happy sitting on Rovers bench waiting for Kalinic to get injured or suspended?

Dont forget Diouf started outr as a striker and can fill in there if needs be (not that i want him to just saying that he can do)

It would definatly be a waste of money to bring in someone like Benjani who probably is on around £20k+ a week.

Save the money and use it in the summer.

At the very least double that!
