Hughesy Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Prepare for the inevitable disappointment that accompanies every January transfer window. We'll all stay up till midnight, hoping we've signed the next Rivelino, only to sign Mark Fish on a free transfer. Na deadline is at 5pm this year again. I feel Sam's immediate priorities / targets should be to tie down Hoilett and Dunn on mediium - long term contracts, and to secure Di Santo on loan for the remainder of the campaign. LB is not a priority and, while Dunn remains at the club, neither is CM (although another creative / attack-minded CM would be nice). Van Heerden and Hoilett have been at the club for six months now, so should have the core / upper body strength and reserve team / training experience to be blooded into the team. Likewise Kalinic. With Pedersen seemingly on his way out, Di Santo possibly as well, I'd say this is a matter of real importance. In sum, we should look to tie current players down and blood signings into the team before delving into the transfer market at a time when prices will be hugely inflated and when few players will be available for transfer. I must say I agree with 99% of that....Id still have a look around for a potential loan signing - Maybe Jack Wilpshire, and get rid of Reid & Zurab - mutual termination or a sale/ loan is fine. As for 'as long as we have dunn CM isnt a priority' - it all depends on his fitness to be honest. Id also consider letting Andrews go if the fee was right and we could get a decent replacement for him.... How about a cheeky loan bid for Bentley?!

Hughesy Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Lancs Telewag - A YOUNG foreign midfield duo arrived at Ewood Park yesterday to start their bid to impress Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce ahead of January’s transfer window. Slovakian Juraj Hovancik, 19, and Algerian Amine Linganzi Koumba, 20, will be training with Rovers for the next week, with the option of extending their spell in England if they impress. A goal scorer is understood to remain the club’s number one target although Allardyce would also like to add a ‘passing midfielder’ to the squad if finances allow.

waggy Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 i would like us to have a go for MOSES from palace,he may part a few defences
AggyBlue Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Allardyce would also like to add a ‘passing midfielder’ to the squad if finances allow. Well that will upset some of our Big Sam 'fans'
nicko Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Any news on where Bentley might be going Nicko? I'd love him back at Ewood, but i'm guessing Spurs will want a fortune for him... I think he will struggle to get a club to buy him. Maybe a loan late on in the window. Made a bad move when he went back to London.
gumboots Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I think he will struggle to get a club to buy him. Maybe a loan late on in the window. Made a bad move when he went back to London. And all us sensible folks told him that. Unfortunately too many young men don't listen to sensible advice - they haven't seen it all before and think that for some reason they'll be the one it doesn't end in tears for.
sparkspakespoke Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 i would like us to have a go for MOSES from palace,he may part a few defences Agreed, I go to a few Palace games evey year being down this way and my flatmate has a couple of Season tickets. He has talent. Still got a way to go but his pace and touch mean he could go a long way. Palace also may accept a reasonable sum due to their finacial troubles.
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I think he will struggle to get a club to buy him. Maybe a loan late on in the window. Made a bad move when he went back to London. If he is available on loan i can see quite a few clubs being interested, we all know how talented a player he is but he has clearly lost his way. He needs a manager to put an arm around him and get him focused on his football again, the talent is there waiting to be unlocked.
Hughesy Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 i would like us to have a go for MOSES from palace,he may part a few defences Very good! I like Moses too - he has looked very handy recentley...Im sure bigger clubs will be looking though

A goal scorer is understood to remain the club’s number one target although Allardyce would also like to add a ‘passing midfielder’ to the squad if finances allow. The Algerian seems an interesting one as hes already played for St.Etienne and is described as a creative midfielder yet is 6'1'' tall. The article also stresses that Sam will have little or no transfer budget in January as the wage bill is already £5m over budget.Think there is plenty of room at Ewood to trim this down if not fully at least by a significant amount in the right direction.
47er Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 2 stories in the Sun of interest to us. Spurs Chairman says 'arry has to sell before he can buy in January which must mean that Bentley would be available to buy rather than loan.. Not to us sadly. Also Sun links us to Van the Man.
Steve Moss Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 Per Nicko, looks like Sam is serious about Amine Linganzi from St Etienne, a French midfielder. I think this is good news for the squad, if we can get him signed. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Blackburn-to-snap-up-French-U-21-star-midfielder-article251791.html
BPF Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Nicko, Is there any truth to this Van the Man stuff? Why are we being forever linked to him these days? Is Andy Cole available to partner him?
Steve Moss Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 With the talk about Portsmouth's potential administration, and now the Mirror reporting that Grant has to sell in January, I decided to look at their team roster to see who might be raid worthy (on the cheap). This is the list I camu up with: Gauthier Mahoto- 17 years old, French (Congolese, like N'Zoni), central midfielder. Kevin-Prince Boateng- 22 years old, German attacking midfielder. Younes Kaboul- 23 years old, 6'4" French central midfielder/defender. Tal Ben Haim- 27 years old, Israeli right back, central defender. Marc Wilson- 22 years old, 6' 2" Irish defender being considered for international duty. Nadir Belhadj- 27 years old, French left winger, decent resume. James Hurst- 20 years old, English defender, allegedly looked at by ManU and Arsenal.
PAFELL Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I think he will struggle to get a club to buy him. Maybe a loan late on in the window. Made a bad move when he went back to London. It has been reported he has had and bust up with Harry Rednapp - which may force him out. Why do you think he may find it hard to get a club to buy him? Is it his attitude since being a spurs?
Hughesy Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 We should ask for Bentley on loan with a view to a permanent move - that is of course if Bentley would come back - I dont think his ego would allow him to be honest. Interesting that Nicko has picked up on the Algerian, saying Sams scouts are saying hes another potential bargain.....
nicko Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 ALGERIAN LAD...comes from the same scout who found Nzonzi, who has turned into something of a revelation. On that basis he is worth a look alone. The word is he has looked the part. Started his career as a striker and is now a midfielder. Good size. Only played a couple of times for St.Etienne, but sounds interesting. RUUD...was a long shot in the summer and you have to ask 'how many times has he played this season?' Major problems with his knee. His contract is running out at Real, so he may be keen on going somewhere on loan. Risky signing for anyone. BEATTIE...I think this one will rumble on. DI SANTO...still waiting on Chelsea making a signing. Everton are lruking, but the lad genuinely wants to come here. If you could buy him for a reasonable price it sounds like good business to me. A loan is a bit of a cop-out...if he starts scoring you will never get a low price for him again. How many 20-year-olds lead the line at ANY Premier League club? This kid has got something. MERIEM...may come back again shortly. Free. Worth a look if fit. Big 'if.'
philipl Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I hope Rovers steer clear of RvN and Beattie. The Algerian sounds promising. Totally agree with Nicko re Di Santo. If we can nab him, probably won't happen this season but Di Santo/Kalinic up front could become very tasty indeed as a strike force.

BrownieFC Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 i would like us to have a go for MOSES from palace,he may part a few defences It was reported today that palace have put the entire squad up for sale as they are skint http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1234924/Crystal-Palace-entire-squad-sale-Wigan-Sunderland-target-Ambrose.html?ITO=1490
Hughesy Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Yer I saw that too - im sure Moses would probably be rated as the best though, so he would probably cost north of £4m.
Hughesy Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Apparently we had a scout at Hamilton watching James McArthur last weekend........
