Spurs probably won't want to loan out any players with Levy saying they have to sell players if they want to bring anyone new in, they'll be lookinh for cash I guess and will want people sold, Bentley, Pavluychenko and Dos Santos probably first out the door, all good players....

Don't think anyone has posted this up.

French defender

I would be worried if we are bringing in a defender at this stage.

Our biggest asset at the moment is Chris Samba and at some point we will be trading him in to free up some capital for new players.

Hopefully not any time soon!

Bentley: have Spurs paid up on the balance of his fee yet? Maybe we could come to some arrangement around monies owed? He could pontentially do for Di Santo what he did for Santa Cruz.

I agree with re Bentley, Jisty. I think he would gift chances to Kalinic and Di Santo all day.

I rate Samba highly but if selling him meant we could bring Bentley back I would seriously consider it, it's sad that Samba would be the player we would have to sell to fund signing Bentley though...

Samba IS our best player - selling him would be mad.....keep at all costs.

If RSC is worth £18m, hes worth at least £25m

I don't think we should be looking to sell him but my personal opinion is that Bentley firing on all cylinders is a more valuable player. I think if people deny that then they are trying to forget how good he was for us because he acted like a tit when he left.

Hughesy, you are unbelievably biased anyway. Samba is very good but is not worth 25 million in a month of Sundays. Just because City paid daft money for Lescott and RSC doesn't mean they will again and I would guarantee that nobody else would offer that. He will be worth what others want to pay and if his head gets turned he will go for near the amount clubs offer.

Samba is a very good club player and is international class at least, he is not world class yet though.

It's all conjecture anyway because Samba won't go in January and we will be too skint to bid for Bentley then.

Our entire team is centred around Samba, more so than around Dunn and losing him would be pretty bad. Why are people so desperate to sign Bentley? Sure he was really good for us, but he's done nothing at Spurs so far and there's no evidence that if he does come back to us that he would be firing on all cylinders.

Why would we want to trade our most valuable defensive and attacking asset for a bench player at Spurs?

Bentley apparently fell out with Harry at Spuds, wasn't even on the bench against Wolves.

Hoping for a loan-deal till end of the season. Although the chances are as slim as Liverpool winning the title this season.

No way Bentley will be back here, he is too big for us now.

I'd imagine Bentley already has numerous offers from clubs in the Premier League and from abroad. I really doubt he'd come back here and I think we can forget it happening. Plus, we couldn't afford to buy him back, and I don't want to just have him on loan for six months. He's lacking match practice and would just hinder Hoilett's progress. IMO a left winger is a far more pressing concern.

French defender

He's a good player and wouldn't be too expensive. Even if there isn't a huge need for more defenders in our squad I think it would always be good to take chances like this. If Zurab is leaving then it probably makes sense to bring in one more and he is also one for the future.

As I said with the last centre-back we're linked with: There's a good chance Samba will be our next cash-in over the summer, which means we can blood his successor asap.

Rubbish, so we are smaller than Spurs Reserves?

I think Hughes will move for him so it is pointless us getting involved but I think Bentley has now seen for the second time that being a small fish in that big bad pond isn't so fun. He can't even drive himself to his new club. He would be stupid not to want to come back to a club that he played so well at, even if it was a short term deal to rediscover his form.

I think the more sensible approach is that Nelsen is getting on a bit and we will need to replace him soon.

Indeed. A surge of form in the second half of the season could see him as an outsider for the World Cup. Long shot, but he's more chance of that with us than taking up space in Tottenham's reserves. But as you say, I suspect he'll move onto the likes of Man.City, Villa et al.

One could argue that's Givet.

I couldnt give a monkeys about Hoiletts progress. Especially as we wont see the benefit after he does one in the summer.

Bentley is better than Hoilett now. Fact. Thats the only thing that should matter. That and would Bentley choose to come back. Even on loan?

Bentley wouldnt come back here, not because he's too 'big' but because he wont want to show that he made a mistake by moving down to london. He could probably move to a similarly sized club to ours and walk into the first team without having to swallow his pride by returning to face the supporters who he publicly walked away from 2 years ago saying that he deserved champions league football.

That's the whole point though, he wouldn't choose to come back, in any capacity. As such, we should continue to play and develop Hoilett and give him a reason to stay with us. If he's a regular in the first team, he isn't going to leave the Premier League for Germany.

Edit: the post above mine says it perfectly.

Too big for us, too little for Spurs. So where does that leave him? :P

Everton or Villa at a guess.

I think if we were to sell Samba there would be a lot of outrage on here about him going and the price it would be, the £25 million staded is miles out, a lot closer to half of that if we were lucky.

The only way we'd get close to £20m is if City were interested and desperate and I can't see that happening.

Everton or City I reckon.

I think in January we should get rid of Pedersen, Reid & Zurab - saving us over 100k a week. That would then allow us to bring that young French defender in, and maybe the Algerian kid that Sams scouts like the look of.

It would also help to prepare us better for the summer ahead.

even a 30 something kevin philips would have delivered more than di santo so i'd seriously hope the first act of the window is wave cheerio to him back to chelsea and try and find a finisher from somewhere no matter what they're age. The second action should then be a left back then a left winger with pace.......and if possible lose our larger wage earners that have'nt the talent to back up what they are paid and get cheaper like for like replacements......and then sell andrews just to end the griping about the fella.

I'm probably just echoing every post on here with that wish list.

Keep chimbonda,samba,nelsen,givet,dunn,emerton,n'zonzi........they are the only 7 we could'nt afford to improve on I could'nt care less what happens to the rest of our current squad. So on that basis there are definitely 4 1st team places up for grabs in my mind And they are all attacking players we need in the main.
