Its not that we cant replace those players, its the board that has to have that money to cover other expenses. Its a real shame, because if the board gave the manager all the money made from the sale of the player, then we would not be in this situation.

The truth is if the board gave all the money from player sales to spend on New players we'd be in Administration by now.

Irvine has also said that Lonergan's going nowhere, in January at least.

From what I've been told, Nob End are lining up a keeper from Colchester or something like that, apparently their bank have put the pressure on to get some money in, if this is the case then I reckon it might be right... When I was talking to my mate earlier he was goin mad about loosing Lonergan, you know despondant, like the way you feel when you know your loosing your best player.

Maybe I'm dreaming, but I just want rid of Roberts, I'm not bothered where he goes, as long as he goes. His poor finishing has cost us points all too often & we cant afford to let that happen too much now or we will end up getting relegated, it really is that simple!!!

Because invariably, when you have a big tall lad up front and his strength is in the air, you hoof it up to them, especially when you're under pressure. It's not necessarily the game plan, but for the players it's the easy way out.

When you have forwards who like the ball to feet, they demand you give it on the floor. Always been that way.

Very true, den and one of the main reasons Crouch will never be a regular for England.

But Spurs didnt just hoof it upto Crouch at every opportunity, did they ?

I don't think we'll do anything in this window.. I mean the last January window when we were going to be relegated we only strengthened with 2 players, one on loan.. I can't see the board being too excited about spending any money this time around

Its what I have been sayinig for some time that big sam is happy with the team that he has, even if we are not

Or Sam accepts we have bugger-all to spend and needs some interest in our own players first.

Crouch's strength isn't in the air. He's just as happy with it to his feet - don't you think?

+ they weren't under much pressure, were they.

Not a regular? Isn't he always playing. Must have played at least 25 times by now if not more.

Funnily enough "big hoof up front option" Crouch is better on the ground than most forwards we have or are linked to as well.

When they did they scored the first.

That wasnt a hoof in the way we think of hoofball, which is direct, long and generally straight forward with no imagination whatsoever.

Kranjkars cross even though it was high, was a pull back from the goal line which must go down as a cross and not a hoof.

It was an instintive piece of football from Kranjkar when we were all thinking the ball is going out of play - oh no it isnt! GOAL! SH*t!.

Spot on FLB.

Love how so many people applaud the ticket schemes to keep ticket prices down and then state how we're one of the few teams with relatively low debts but then when it comes to spending money in the window they get angry with the club for not giving Sam more funds. You cant have it both ways.

In an ideal world of course we'd get a creative maverick for the midfield, a 20 goal a season striker and a LM to knock Pedersen out of the team permenantly but thats not going to happen. If Sam doesnt get the funds then thats that. No point in complaining about it. None of us know about where the money went from previous sales so please dont be arrogant enough to state that you know better then the club when it comes to finances.

Don't think it is arrogant of anyone to suggest we need more creativity in the midfield from somewhere.

If that means sacrificing players in other positions then so be it.

However you are right that we, as Rovers fans, do have to wake up and smell the coffee somewhat. As a club with what...up to 85%?!? in the past...of turnover going on wages and not so much coming in through the turnstiles we cannot complain too much if we have to be a selling club at times.

The owners are not going to put money in to be frittered away on players and I don't blame them. I'd like another Jack Walker to come along but it isn't likely. In such a case owners that take nothing from the club is better than the chancers who have taken over other clubs and saddled them with debt.

We are fortunate to have The Walker Trust. Not as fortunate as some but more fortunate than most.

I'll re-phrase then a starter, which if everyone is fit he most certainly is not for his country.

I was merely re-iterating den's good point that a big man only makes players lazy in their choices. Crouch has been renowned for his good first touch for ages, even before his height actually became a useful weapon as at one stage he was hopeless considering the advantage he had. If only he had learned to jump as a kid.

Then its just a matter of when not if we get relegated. We have been been lucky in recent years in that we have been able to find cheap gems and polish them into diamonds for a decent sell on fee. There will be times though when that mine is empty or they aren't easy to find and we really will struggle to compete.

One thing i admired under Sparky's reign was the strong stance on players, in that they were contracted to the club and we wouldn't sell a player unless we decided it was right and we had a suitable replacement. I think we have lost that a bit under our last two managers and i think we should get back to that policy.

It's more to do with the board than our last two managers, mind you, we held onto Cruz last January. However, needed to sell Warnock when the money was presented to us.
