[Archived] Sam's January Targets

Then its just a matter of when not if we get relegated.

Yep...it will happen one day. The likes of Southampton and Coventry were in this division a hell of a lot longer than we have been (not even a decade) and they went down not to be seen again. Which means we need to get the books in order so if it does happen it does not mean another 25+ years in the wilderness when we went down in the 60s. Does not mean it has to happen anytime soon however. Yet it is imperative we don't throw too much money at staying up that it could ruin us for years and years. Look at Leeds, Forest and Ipswich...bigger crowds, European trophies...not been seen in the Prem for years!

So next time people on here whine about thinking Prem survival being so important is thinking small...remember them and Newcastle and Middlesbrough and West Ham & Wolves not so long ago...those are 6 teams who have been in European finals. If we stay up this year (and we really should) it will be ten seasons in the world's richest league.

Not bad for a club from Blackburn. You never know...after a while of building us, a small, unfashionable and unloved Lancashire club, up into a force then Sam might even take us into Europe in the long run...

after all...he HAS done it before.

To quote that article

If that's the case we have a retard in charge (like we didn't know this before mind you).

Sorry, but you are the retard if you think that Sam should go out and say "our team is awful and we are ######" instead. He clearly has no money so he's being positive in the press and keeping faith in his players. If you find something wrong with that then you, sir, are retarded.

Cant believe how some of our fans pull off a hissy fit every time the media twist a story.

Sam says we are unlikely to do anything (because there is no budget) - however if an opportunity arises then they will look at it - otherwise he's happy with what he has until the end of the season.

He's not saying we dont want anyone - simply the facts - we are skint and have no spare cash yet to buy anyone! FFS get a grip!

That wasnt a hoof in the way we think of hoofball, which is direct, long and generally straight forward with no imagination whatsoever.

Kranjkars cross even though it was high, was a pull back from the goal line which must go down as a cross and not a hoof.

It was an instintive piece of football from Kranjkar when we were all thinking the ball is going out of play - oh no it isnt! GOAL! SH*t!.

The hoofball was to Crouch who headed the ball down to Huddleston for his wayward shot. Krankjars subsequent lofted cross was from out very wide and dolleyed into the 6 yard box that Robinson should have gobbled up with ease.

Why comment at all then? Whats the point in saying to the press anything about transfer dealings. Why not just say "no comment" if he has nothing to say? But no lets put out a message to the fans we are content with what we have when blatently anyone watching week in, week out can see we are @#/?. <_<

I think the biggest retards are the people who believe what Allardyce has said, despite hearing it a million times before from a million different managers.

I'm on record as saying if Kalinic scores 12 goals this season I'll eat the Walkersteel stand. Well if Allardyce doesn't sign someone in January I'll eat the Darwen End.

Just to emphasise the stupidity of people believing this, in the summer the same ''our window is shut'' quote was wheel out. A week later we signed Salgado.

I'm new to EPL football (only started watching 3-4 years ago). But I've noticed that EPL managers, including Sam, are not shy about engaging in more than a little misdirection. We really can't go with what they say. We have to more or less just sit tight and see what they do.

Extending Di Santo for the balance of the year is good business.

Beattie for Roberts seems a good deal.

Holden on free seems to me to be an excellent deal.

Unloading MGP to Celtic is an excellent move.

Getting McCarthy to either shape up or ship out (for 3 million), is an excellent deal, either way.

Which of the above materializes, I haven't a clue. Any of the above would be a positive.

What is wierd is that Tribal is linking Blackburn with both Houston Dynamo's Stuart Holden and Ricardo Clark (if I am reading the article correctly). http://www.tribalfootball.com/houston-dynamo%E2%80%99s-clark-attracting-premier-league-interest-527511

Good thing the rumor is from Tribal, and therefore not likely reliable, or otherwise Blckburn's colors for next year's season could be orange.

This is right on the money. The interview / article is just a way of 1) telling the market place we won't be prepared to pay big money. 2) Give the current playing staff the belief in their own ability and express the managers confidence in them. 3) Throw the press off the scent of any potential signings we may have thought about.

I don't think shouting about Sam being a retard is helpful or indeed in any way truthful. Arry Redknapp reels out this same type of speech in every transfer window. We all know he loves to shift players in and out.

Its also an invitation to other clubs to bid for players we don't want eg Pedersen and Roberts. I'd include Andrews in that but can't see why anyone would be interested.

Bloody hell, pal at this rate we may not have a stadium next year.

would you be interested in Andrews ???

If I was managing any team other than Rovers he would be my main target???

Irvine has also said that Lonergan's going nowhere, in January at least.

Talk on the radio yesterday that Steve Bruce has made Keiren Westwood his top target for a fee of £1.5m.

If it is true that he is available at that price then we should look at him. Neil McDonald will know him from his Carlisle days as well.

Love how so many people applaud the ticket schemes to keep ticket prices down and then state how we're one of the few teams with relatively low debts but then when it comes to spending money in the window they get angry with the club for not giving Sam more funds. You cant have it both ways.

The ticket scheme initiatives have nothing to do with whether we have money to spend in the transfer market. It has cost the club a small amount of money but it's peanuts in the greater scheme of things. If the reduced prices and higher crowds mean that we finish a bit higher up the league then it might even make a profit. There will be no way of proving that of course but whatever happens cheap ticket prices won't have any effect on whether we can buy players. We don't have any money for players because our income (the vast majority from TV) is spent on the wage bill. If we reduce the wage bill significantly we will have lesser players and will hasten our relegation.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but we are mentioned as being interested in a Houston Dynamo player over here. He must be really good I don't even remember his name. LOL Seemingly he is a good player.

A Scottish born American citizen called Holden. He is talked about earlier in the thread, includng You Tube etc. A versatile player it seems.

Nicko has not confirmed if he has heard anything though. It might just be agent talk as he needs a new deal.

Just had a thought just over a week until hopefully Nicko' 11 o'clocker returns :tu:

I was thinking that also but the day of the 11 o clocker maybe over because these days Nicko's articles appear online on The Daily Mirror website at about 10.30.

Maybe we can have an 9 o clocker !!!!!!!!

With regards to the 2 Americans, its exactly the same situation that we were in with Ryan Nelsen. His contract expired, we got him in on trial, signed him up & he's now our captain & one of our most reliable defenders.

He must still have contact with people over there, maybe he has recommended these players to Sam Allardyce. It does seem as though people over there who see them play, like them.

I reckon we get them in on trial, and if they are good enough, sign them up.

We have to do something, and if possible do it early in the month, get the job sorted.

We desperately need some creativity & someone who is going to be more reliable in front of goal.

Sounds like he may have injured himself according to his twitter:

Nicko, heard anything about Judge's future? It was a while back but whenever i saw him in pre-season friendlies he looked a promising player and some friends of mine who follow the reserves/academy far more closely thought with the right development he could be a decent player for us. I know he is still in loan at Plymouth, just wondering if any clubs have shown an interest and whether or not he features in Sam's plans for the future? From what i gather the Plymouth fans really rate him.

And he's being linked to Chelsea and Spurs..... get the feeling he may be slightly out of our range.

I think there would be about 10-20 clubs in a better position to sign him than us but agree that he's a top player and one that we should be trying to get. He's a class act to be fair.

Unfortunately we will have more chance of licking fog, I can see it now...

Reporter - "Goran Pandev, there are a plethera of clubs looking for your services. Some are European competition regulars, some also regularly challenge for domestic honours in their native leagues, English, Spanish, Italian, German all of a very high calibre. Blackburn Rovers manager, Sam Allardyce has spoken of his desire for you to sign for him, at the unfashionable, small town outfit who this season are very much flirting with the idea of relegation, would you go on record with your thoughts about this???"

Goran Pandev - "If your askng me if I plan to sign a contract with Blackburn Rovers, the answer is... errrrm... NO!":lol::lol:

As much as I'd love us to sign him as he is top quality... Its not going to happen!!!

You have to say with things as they are Judge could get a shot in midfield. I mean we currently have two fit central midfielders, one of whom is Andrews. Even if Judge is poor we probably need him on the bench at the minimum.

Also - this Ricardo Clark character is a CM and an international to boot. Sign him up!
