tony gale's mic Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I'm struggling here, who has Sam resurrected while he's been here? Why does it just have to be limited to his time at Rovers? He did so multiple times at Bolton, he's only made one similarish signing at Rovers in Salgado which didnt work out, but you can't win them all.

USABlue Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Why does it just have to be limited to his time at Rovers? He did so multiple times at Bolton, he's only made one similarish signing at Rovers in Salgado which didnt work out, but you can't win them all. Think about it. What he did at Bolton means jack right now. If it was "Sam's cup of tea" surely he'd b doing it at Rovers by now but he has not. A bit of promise with Salgado at Wigan, Don't recall it happening at Newcastle either so maybe he just fell in it at Bolton
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Diouf - out of favour at Sunderland. Givet - out of favour at Marseille. Jacobsen - Everton unwilling to offer him a longer term contract - too risky.
USABlue Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Diouf - out of favour at Sunderland. Givet - out of favour at Marseille. John Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Don't recall it happening at Newcastle either so maybe he just fell in it at Bolton He was prematurely sacked at Newcastle, so cannot really judge his time there.
AggyBlue Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I'm struggling here, who has Sam resurrected while he's been here? After Ince. the whole football club.
Eddie Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 He was prematurely sacked at Newcastle, so cannot really judge his time there. Not like any of his signings subsequently worked out for the club.
John Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Not like any of his signings subsequently worked out for the club. He did make some poor signings but then again he did not have the opportunity to manage/improve them. After all, after ten games of his management at Newcastle, they had their best start to a season for a decade. Look what happened after he left....
deryck guyler's spoon Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Isn't a Holden a down-under Ford or something equally dodgy? It's an Aussie Vauxhall and they're really good cars! How can somebody called Stuart Holden be from anywhere but East Lancashire? Ben Arfa is not the wanted man he was. He needs a move to resurrect him a bit. Whether it is Rovers remains to be seen. Time to practise those Olive out of "On the Buses" impersonations.
thenodrog Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Owen-Coyle-keen-on-Texan-Stuart-Holden-article269109.html The much-discussed Holden looks like going to Burnley. Double agent Nixon strikes again!
Steve Moss Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 I worry if Burnley get him. While its difficult to compare by viewing a players' MLS performance and then extrapolate that to the EPL, Holden looks like the real deal to me.
Iceman Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Hatem Ben Arfa, may be having a poor season but he will not land up here. If he does then il eat the rest of Ewood Park. I would love Guti at Rovers, and then get Van Nistelrooy to replace Roberts. Hahahaha. I know, its the silly season!
Bobby G Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Ben Arfa at Rovers. You must be kidding me. Wont happen. Although a number of French sources are reporting it including Figaro, France Foot, etc... They do mention United, Olympiakos and Stuttgart also want him. What a signing he would be. If our board dip in their pockets and we sign him for 6-8 million, you can be sure we will rake in the money once we sell him within 18 months. Consider it an investment.
Eddie Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Yep, it's all over the French press. According to reports today is the day that Lyon will make up their mind about whether or not to let him go out on loan.
Lurid Coat Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I thought he signed for Marseille last year?
Eddie Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Last summer. He's not been as impressive as he was at Lyon though.
Bobby G Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I think Eddie meant Marseille will decide. Eddie does it say we are favorites? And where does the link come from? Have we moved for him or speculation?
Eddie Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Ah, yes sorry, meant to type Marseille. Well Ben Arfa hasn't been getting on very well with the management there, so there's been speculation that he could move for over a month now. He's been linked with other clubs, but it appears we are the only ones taking a serious interest. Reports are that they would like to sell and that we want him on loan. We must have had some contact with them for it to be all over the press here like this, there isn't a single newspaper or online site that hasn't spoken about it since it first came out a few days ago. I thought it was a joke at first, but at this point you'd have to think there must be something to it, particularly when some of the more reputable sources have started to run with it. I struggle to think that someone as high profile as him could be sold or loaned out without more clubs being interested, but I guess if we can do the deal quickly then it might be possible. He isn't playing as much at the moment, so if he wants to be heavily involved in the world cup this summer he needs to get quite a few games and also impress. A move might make sense for him and his relationship with the management there is very bad now, so it may well happen.
Eddie Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I don't have one on this yet. I know some people at PSG who I'll talk to about it later, but all I have on this is what I've read in the French press.

joey_big_nose Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Pedersen out and Ben Arfa in? Um, yes please. I can't see it happening though- 1) Money 2) We are not in europe 3) Surely loads of others are interested?
