News of the World linking us with Eidur Gudjohnsen here, for what it's worth.

I think he could be good behind Kalinic or in the midfield but it's another old player on the books, probably on very high wages as well.

You don't say. Is the last page of posts invisible?

Seriously though has anone actually seen Gudjohnsen play recently? Is he still any good or would he come under the Diouf envelope of being a very expensive has been who happened to play for Sam in headier times?

Not been very good for Monaco... if he's struggling in the French league you do wonder whether he can cut it in the Premiership.

Think he might come under the Diouf envelope...

I'm guessing here but I think that he is a "name" who in the unlikely event we signed him might do well initially and give everyone a short term boost for the rest of the season.

On the downside I suspect his wages would be astronomical by our standards (RSC or what we wanted to give Bellamy proportions)and he wouldn't be much good after this season.

freebie 11 posted by Daily Mail. Says Rovers after 29 year old German Christoph Metzelder from Real Madrid. Also Brum & Celtic after MGP.

Metzelder will be on a Bosman I think for June.

Was world class before his injuries. I think he is back in the German set-up these days. His positioning and reading of the game are both brilliant.

Im surprised Joe Cole hasnt re-signed yet. Some good players in that list of Bosmans.

Eidur has never been a 20 goal a season player though, he chips in with around 10 a season. If we are geting rid of benni we need a talisman, someone who will lead the lone and bang in the goals. How we find one of those for 3m is a mystery that only Hughes manager to solve though

Interesting bosman list, adriano would be amazing in the prem if he could get his head straight,he's only 27 as well. Joe ledley and Adam Johnson would both be good additions from the championship and martin petrov would be a great signing. Don't see us being able to get any of them to be honest, we can but hope.

Roberts will hopefully be off for at least 1 million. Benni should fetch 2 times that hopefully at the very least.

We have to come to terms that Benni will be sold. Lets hope the right choices are brought in.

Many people on here slated Sam for selling Debyshire last year, he has only played one game this year for Olympiakos!!

Wow, if you look at the free 1st 11 list, we should try to go for adam johnson or joe ledley. They're both way better than pedersen and both young and hungry. Get rid of andrews, diouf and roberts and we can probably afford them.

The problem we're going to have is actually getting rid of the players that we all want out.

Apart from MGP, Andrews, Diouf and Roberts still have contracts to run.

And they're hardly attractive signings to other clubs.

It worries me that they will dig their heels in and that will scupper any transfer activity we'd like to do this month.

It's going to be interesting to see how things pan out.

That link also has Burnley as one of the clubs wanting David James. I know he's desperate to go to the World Cup but 14k a week desperate?

3 club rule alert for most of the others. Wonder if creating those links was a newsroom New Years' Eve Party game?

EDIT: Also clearly made up on the spot to hit a deadline! :

Morten Gamst Pedersen (Blackburn, 28)

The Norwegian’s left foot is one of the best in the Premier League and his form over the past few years means that there would be a number of potential suitors should Sam Allardyce decide to cash in before he leaves on a free.
