Silencio Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Roberts for Johnson in a swap deal would be fine It's not really possible though is it? I fancy Strachan might overpay for Roberts though so I hope they are after him...

John Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 In the People: Blackburn are weighing up a move for Feyenoord attacker Andewele Slory.
Hughesy Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 We need a midfielder who is young & promising - abit like Delph. Boeteng would be good but not for £4m. Roberts will have interested parties - hopefully someone like Cardiff might want him. As for Gudjohsen - there is no point getting rid of Benni, to sign him - we need younger players!!
S15 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 We don't need younger players, we need better players.
Hughesy Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 2 signings who wouldnt cost a bomb and would improve us alot are - Aron Gunnarson & Adam Johnson. Joe Ledley will be off to Everton
Bobby G Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Adam Johnson and Andy Taylor, both of Boro's boys I rate highly. Im surprised no one has moved for them yet.
Hughesy Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I think Johnson is just sitting his out and seeing what happens for him - fair play!
herbergeehh Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 We don't need younger players, we need better players. Di Santo, Kalinic, Hoilett, Olsson, N'Zonzi, Doran, Jones is more youth than we've seen in a long, long time. What we need is a solid core of experienced players in our starting eleven. Gudjohnson would certainly add that to our team, and he's still only 31?
Heinz Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 In the People: Blackburn are weighing up a move for Feyenoord attacker Andewele Slory. Slory is barely good enough for Feyenoord's bench. Avoid.
Gav Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Many people on here slated Sam for selling Debyshire last year, he has only played one game this year for Olympiakos!! Its not easy to get a game when you're out with a long term injury Still he wasn't good enough for the premiership and had to be sold.
JAL Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Eidur ? Now that would be an extremely decent replacement for Benni, delighted if it comes off.
MeanGreenMachine Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 2 signings who wouldnt cost a bomb and would improve us alot are - Aron Gunnarson & Adam Johnson. Joe Ledley will be off to Everton No harm in putting a bid in? Apparently Zaragoza want shut of Pennant, id take a gamble on him. A 'proper' winger who will take players on and whip balls into the box. Same goes for Johnson but i think there will be bigger and better clubs in for him. Ledley will also slot nicely into our crippled midfield along with Boatang. Uptop Eidur would be a cracking signing, but why sell benni to fund it? Benni and Eidur could really be a mouth watering prospect. Benni is at his best in and around the peno area, Eidur is more the creator to play 'in the hole'. Now that would be a cracking partnership for us. At the back id take Metzelder in a blink of the eye, a fine centre half. But lets stop dreaming, we will end up with 2 forigners we have never heard of for a twix and a can of tizer.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Roberts for Johnson in a swap deal would be fine You must be dreaming ! People who know about these things reckon he's better than Downing and what did he cost? Johnson's one of the top young wingers and he's British so there'll be a trail of clubs as long as your arm after him. Rovers have no chance.
Stuart Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 How about replacing Benni with Beckford? Just scored against United at OT. Could be a signing of the Jon Stead ilk...?
Bobby G Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I cant see him jumping up two levels, at the age of 26. Wont be any better than what we have at the very best.
Stuart Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 They don't change the size of the goalposts! It's just confidence and getting on a good run. If we could bring in someone already in the frame of mind it might work. Jon Stead was banging in the goals for Huddersfield and Souey brought him in. His goals kept us up that season.
Bobby G Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I really cant believe the board wont dip into their pockets without us selling to make a couple of million pounds available, knowing that each place is worth almost a million in this league.

If we could bring in someone already in the frame of mind it might work. Jon Stead was banging in the goals for Huddersfield and Souey brought him in. His goals kept us up that season. According to the papers Rovers are again looking at Gudjonnson
Bobby G Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Eidur is a class player, but he has never been and will never be a goal scorer of the highest regard. But he will add much needed creativity to our team. Its weird that theres nothing on the Lingazi lad, and Meriem is dragging on too long. We are looking to sign so many central attacking midfielders, and it makes me think we may be switching formations to a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-2 diamond. Maybe I am reading too much into it...
RoversSG Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I cant see him jumping up two levels, at the age of 26. Wont be any better than what we have at the very best. Did Andrews "jump" up three levels at the age of 28?
modes98 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I cant see him jumping up two levels, at the age of 26. Wont be any better than what we have at the very best. I have to admit I had the same idea. Beckford offers something we don't have, pace! He also knows where the net is. He is at worst a squad striker to replace Roberts but could be an inspired buy. Out of contract in the summer as well so his price would be very low. Also if Coyle leaves dingles the loan deal for Wilshere should fall through. Might not be a bad one to pick up. Skillful young midfielder if a little lightweight.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I really cant believe the board wont dip into their pockets without us selling to make a couple of million pounds available, knowing that each place is worth almost a million in this league. How about not having pockets deep enough to dip into? They know what we can afford to spend not us. They've done a better job then many other clubs have done so lets leave the finances to them. Id much rather we spent very little and stayed afloat then gamble and end up in a pompey/leeds situation.
LeChuck Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Eidur is a class player, but he has never been and will never be a goal scorer of the highest regard. True, but he would definitely solve the creativity problem that we have whilst also bringing a steady supply of goals. I've got a feeling Kalinic would love playing with someone like Eidur. I'm not getting myself excited about this because it sounds too good to be true, but it would be fantastic.
super_arran Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I'd like to see us go in for Diamanti if west ham's money problems are true. I know it'll never happen but we can all live in hope edit: and he's just scored against arsenal
