adam johnson please............. thanks

no beattie...... imagine having both beattie and roberts up...... full of lumps that can't score...........

kurayni - NO!

MGP - hate to see him leave, as he recently showed glimpse of brilliance, but seems like Big Sam wants him and benni both out of edwood fast.

yet another depressing transfer window, somebody make me excited please.........

Den, i can't agree on this. Beattie is a big lad. He can't help that. But that doesn't make him your archetypal target man. Moyes tried to make him that at Everton and it didn't work. If he gets brought here to be a battering ram he'll fail. For a big guy he's not great in the air.

I think he's pretty good in the air, far better than Roberts which admittedly is not hard.

I think you'll find it's Benni who wants out of Ewood fast, not a case of Sam ousting him. Sam has been trying to get Benni fit but Benni doesn't seem to think that it's fair that he is required to train harder than everybody else to match his fitness levels with the rest of the squad. How dare he be expected to be in train for 7am when he's on around £40k a week.

Roque is going to go out on loan it seems. Should we be interested or has he burnt all bridges?

Not for me, he scored a total of 4 goals for us last season and made it clear he didn't want to play for us.

DISAGREE !

Wishful thinking and damaging to Blackburn Rovers future, signing Beattie.

You may disagree but we can only sign who is affordable and available. Do you think Roberts will improve? Do you think he's start banging the goals in? I think not. There is a far better chance of Beattie coming in and getting into double figures in the back half of the season for the club he supports.

If he is a big enough man to admit that he has made a mistake and come back on half the wages then yes.....

I don't know about others on here but, just like with Bentley, I would have them back in a shot.

Havent seen Roberts do this:

James Beattie

What may be in Beatties favour is that Rovers is a club he supports - that in itself may be the motive he needs to play better. He scores more than Roberts. I would give him a chance, even if it is only for a few season. But it would have to be beattie in and Roberts out - as I cannot see why Rovers would want both. Beattie can at least beat a keeper one and one - we,ve seen Roberts efforts.

07.34 Sunderland are said to be considering a swoop for Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi, with Stadium of Light forward Kenwyne Jones reported to be attracting interest from Birmingham, according to various newspapers.

Wonder how this will affect Beatties transfer?

Snap up RSC immediately if a deal can be done on his loony wages.

If MGP is genuinely a write-off then we should take any cash we can get for him now.

Any first team player leaving man city now will need to take a pay cut when they leave for another club. I just cannot see how a deal could be done for Rovers to get back RSC - same as Bentley, spurs want most their money back.

I like the point you raise about Beattie being a local lad and a Rover Pafell.

This is IMO very important for me as the player will fight for the blue and white halves.

It may also be likely that he would be interested in a pay-cut to go back to his beloved club?

He has a better scoring record than Roberts in recent years. He Can head the ball, hold up and finish. All the target man attributes that we need. He also has decent feet and a can strike a free kick quite well. While he may not be a world-beater, he could be what we need. Especially being the club he supports.

That last bit is the clincher for me. He just WILL work harder for us than Roberts would. And to whoever it was who said may slagging of Roberts' effort was wide of the mark.....if he collapses rather than try to hold off a defender ALL the time, but not even being REMOTELY convincing and moaning afterwards, why is he even in this league? Get Rid.

I agree. Everyone is saying he has strengt and power. They only thing he does for me is give away free-kicks and have a grin smile on his face afterwards.

If we can shift out Roberts (£1-1,5m), Gamst (£1,-1,5) and buy Beattie (£2m). I will be more than happy.

TELEWAG -

Celtic are believed to be leading the chase for McCarthy, while Championship outfit Middlesbrough are understood to be interested in Roberts, but further interest from other clubs is expected as the month progresses.

The club’s immediate priority lies with offloading a few of their fringe players in this January window, to free up a wage bill already higher than wanted, with Zurab Khizanisvili, Keith Treacy and Elrio Van Heerden all players up for sale.

They also need to decide whether to offer Morten Gamst Pedersen a new deal, with his contract expiring this summer, another player who is expected to be a wanted man this January.

Olympiakos and Celtic are both understood to be considering bids for the Norwegian but, after showing signs of returning to form in recent weeks, Rovers would have to seriously consider whether they could find a replacement who would offer more.

Benni being one of them, and Roberts being in the neighborhood.....

We need to improve our squad, not just bring in a new face with the same results.

Benni's return is inflated by easy goals he scored in South Africa and at Ajax and Porto who partly dominate weak leagues like Rangers and Celtic. Counting those goals is like saying Fletcher was an outstanding signing for Burnley because he got 1 in 3 with Hibs, or Kalinic is a great signing because he got 1 in 2 for Split. Then he had one excellent season when he first arrived where he was over 1 in 2, and since has has a much lower return.

Only players with top flight returns I could find higher than one in three in the Premiership are Owen, Rooney, Drogba, Torres, Anelka, Adebayor, Santa Cruz (although that is going out the window extremely rapidly), Arshavin, and McCarthy (because of his first season). I am sure there are more. Feel free to add to this list with players consistently well over 1 goal in 3 in a major European league who we could hope to attract to Ewood Park.

Roberts for Beattie = :xmas:

Benni for Beattie =

With the squad changes next year I'd be all for him returning provided its not for Benni. We have very few players who can actually make a contribution at this level who are Rovers born players, so he could help.

I wonder if Beattie still follows Rovers as we've all seen Dunn with the bit between his teeth, if Beattie still supports the club and we could get him playing for us like Dunn does??

I think Phillpl means a loan, with Man City continuing to pay most of the wages. To be honest this does not seem that unlikely given how they handled Jo going out to Everton - however if they do offe RSC out subsidised there will be a long queue of teams interested in taking him on.

Spot on Maji.

Benni still has something to offer, Roberts is very limited!

Beattie would be exactly like Dunn - and if he could stay fit, would offer us much more than Roberts does - however I wouldnt be happy paying £2.5m in todays market

Thanks Pafell- I should have copied the post about an RSC loan. At present, Espanyol are looking to take RSC whilst Jo of course is supposed to be on his way back to City after taking a fortnight's Christmas breal in Brazil just because he felt like he needed it.

I am happy that I see Benni being linked out of the country. The most important thing for me if we are selling Benni is that we don't sell him to one of our premiership rivals.

We all saw what Roque is capable of when he scored 2 or 3 goals last game he was fit.

If City pays most of his wages it is a great deal and I would really welcome his back to us!
