Majiball Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Spot on Maji. Benni still has something to offer, Roberts is very limited! Beattie would be exactly like Dunn - and if he could stay fit, would offer us much more than Roberts does - however I wouldnt be happy paying £2.5m in todays market I'd be very happy with a straight swap roberts for Beattie, but since that most likely won't happen then if we can get 2.5M for Jase and then spend the same on Beattie I'd be happy enough. If jason Scotland and the likes are worth around that sort then Roberts should be too. This is what's worrying me. There's going to be more takers for Benni than there is Roberts. So I just pray that Sam doesn't flog Benni and buy Beattie, keeping Roberts in the process. There would be uproar. And this is the part that worries me as I can easily see Sam thinking that since Benni's fat and lazy, him out and Beattie in would seem reasonable. But theres just no comparsion between them for me. We just have to hope that Sam sees it the way we do? As if he does the other one with no serious replacement (Beattie is no replacement for Benni), then your right I think the crowd will turn. The last thing we need is more Booing etc. I can see Roberts appealing to a promotion chasing team or a team in and around us, but would he drop down if thats his only choice?

PAFELL Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Thanks Pafell- I should have copied the post about an RSC loan. At present, Espanyol are looking to take RSC whilst Jo of course is supposed to be on his way back to City after taking a fortnight's Christmas breal in Brazil just because he felt like he needed it.ANREWS HAS BEEN DOING THAT EVERY SINCE BEING AT EWOOD PARK -HAVING A BREAK With Fulham losing a striker becase of injury - zomoara (spelling) they are going to be in the market for a striker. Would not surprise me to see Roberts end up there - though I would hate to see Bennie go to Fulham. Don't you think RSC would consider he has burnt his bridges at Rovers - even if a deal could be done - he may not want it
Majiball Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 £2.5m for Roberts??? Why we paid at least that for him. Beckford 2M+ 6 months left and never scored a goal in the top flight. How much would Wolves want for Ebanks-Blake. I heard 5M at one point last year, how many goals has he scored this year? Jason Scotland again never scored in the top flight, £2M to Wigan. So why should we ask less for a player who has scored goals at our level?

Roberts has had many seasons in the Prem to prove himself, Scotland & Beckford are up and coming players that are very promising indeed. You can mould Scotland and Beckford into the type of player you need, Roberts will never change - he's already admitted that. Wolves can keep Ebanks-Blake for me, was £5m an official valuation or a rumour?

It's supply and demand, Beckford could well be in demand therefore upping his price, Roberts along with Benni will not be in demand therefore going for a minimal fee. I can't see anybody queueing up for their signatures so we'll have to take what we can get.
mellison24 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Roberts has had many seasons in the Prem to prove himself, Scotland & Beckford are up and coming players that are very promising indeed. You can mould Scotland and Beckford into the type of player you need, Roberts will never change - he's already admitted that. Beckford is 26. While he is about to enter his prime, I doubt he can be 're-moulded'. I think he'll be a 10 goal a season man and no more at this level, but I'll reserve judgement until I see him on a regular basis in the prem (IF I do). Whereas Scotland IS only 22, he's still done nowt. However, I think he could become a version of Roberts that actually DOES something useful.
47er Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Any first team player leaving man city now will need to take a pay cut when they leave for another club. I just cannot see how a deal could be done for Rovers to get back RSC - same as Bentley, spurs want most their money back. I think pride alone would prevent Roque coming back to us. As to his wages, its City who want to loan him out. They will end up paying a substantial part of his wages or no-one will take him.
mellison24 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Just to throw a name in the ring....Martin Petrov on loan anyone? I know, I doubt it too, but you don't get if you don't ask!
G Somerset Rover Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Just to throw a name in the ring....Martin Petrov on loan anyone? I know, I doubt it too, but you don't get if you don't ask! I think he's started 2 of Mancini's first 3 games so I reckon that one would be a big no no. Edit: He's started all 3.

Beckford will be eager to please and willing to diversify his game to suit different formations. Roberts has already said he can't change his game and basically what you see is what you get. Personally I don't rate any of the three players mentioned. Roberts is not a top flight player, Beckford is a League 1 player (see Andrews) and Scotland has not scored in 12 appearances for Wigan.
67splitscreen Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 With Coyle on gardening duty wonder if that has ended Burnley's interest in Holden ???? (young lad from the states)

S15 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I think Zurab must be a Photoshop expert, signs for a club and makes some very convincing incriminating pictures of the manager. This guy earns the easiest massive salary in Britain. Has he played for Newcastle yet??!!
budha Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Whereas Scotland IS only 22, he's still done nowt. However, I think he could become a version of Roberts that actually DOES something useful. Scotland is a month shy of 31.
S15 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Don't let that get in the way of an unconvincing argument.
Bobby G Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I had no idea that Jason Scotland was THAT old! I thought mid-twenties.
Silencio Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Don't let that get in the way of an unconvincing argument. ha ha

Now they want him back - He must have something on someone.....
mellison24 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Don't let that get in the way of an unconvincing argument. I'm just ###### at maths. I looked at their birthyears on wiki and took 4 off (like in years) rather than adding the age. DOH!!! And nice sly dig btw And it also means.....I'd still take Beattie in a shot.
jonv Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 11:53 According to France Football, the Icelandic International Eidur Gudjohnsen is being touted as bound for Ewood Park and away from a disaster spell at Monaco. The French club is thought to be asking around £1.8m for the 31-year-old's services.
AJW Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Mcarthy and roberts out for beattie and gudjohnsen ? thoughts anyone?

I can see this happening being under Sam earlier. 11:53 According to France Football, the Icelandic International Eidur Gudjohnsen is being touted as bound for Ewood Park and away from a disaster spell at Monaco.
