I think Zurab must be a Photoshop expert, signs for a club and makes some very convincing incriminating pictures of the manager.

This guy earns the easiest massive salary in Britain. Has he played for Newcastle yet??!!

He was sent off in one game as I recall! (sorry-just seen someone else had written the same thing)

Joe Ledley: Cardiff City ≥ Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers are the latest Premier League club to show an interest in Ledley. The Cardiff striker is out of contract in the summer but Rovers could make a bid for him during the current transfer window. Stoke City, who had a £6m offer for Ledley rejected in 2008, are also continuing to monitor the player's situation. Stuart James

Ledley would be a great signing, yes please!

Nicko, is the info i`ve heard true about beattie already having visited brockhall for pre-emptive talks with rovers about a move? is it a case of if benni or roberts gets sold beattie comes in?

also..

Do you know if coyle feels kevin davies is his type of player, and if not, could the idea of a move for him to rovers crop up again?

imo it`d be better for us to hold fire on the idea of signing beattie if there`s a chance that kevin davies would become available. sam knows for certain that davies can do the job he wants upfront.

Beattie and Rovers has been a possible for weeks and will continue to be so. But someone has to go first.

Kevin Davies will get a new lease of life out of playing for Owen if he ever gets to Bolton...he will get the chance to play with the ball in front of him rather than with his back to goal. I think he will be a success in an attacking side with two wingers.

Nicko, what has Mellision had for his tea this evening? :rover:

I don't know, but I want some of the same.

if we managed somehow to swap mccarthy and roberts for beattie and gudjohnson, and the also get rid of andrews and mgp then buy a midfielder that can actually pass and put faith in hoilett! or is that being far to optimistic!

i think samba upfront is better than beattie would be, at least big chris works hard in that posistion. beattie has benni`s attitude to team work but without even a smidgion of the same ability on the ball or goalscoring/creating wise. in fact beattie is pretty much a like for like swap for jason roberts ability wise, but beattie is slower, and once again, doesn`t work anything like as hard for the team. how does that improve us when lack of pace/movement is an issue in our squad?

no im going to have to disagree with that, and would be happy to see beattie in a blackburn shirt!

fair enough dixon, your entitled to your view and i`m not going to rubbish it(even if i think it`s rubbish).

i will ask though why you think beattie would be good for rovers when he`s been indifferant elsewhere for years?(other than in the fizzy league of course)

Why not have him back. give him a chance to prove he is Blackburn lad I know I would have liked the chance to prove to my family and friends that I could have done better

i just think that he would be a better jason roberts! he is more skillful (close control) is also strong so i believe he would bring something to our squad. and he never misses penaltys so we would probably still be in the F.A cup if we had himm for that game! ;)

and just watch this!

He actually kept Stoke up last year with some very important and decent goals, however, I dont know if his head is right!!

Would be better than Roberts, wouldnt like him to replace Benni, unless Gudjohson came, but we cant afford Gudjohnson

imo better can be signed for the same cash from abroad, but i do have to acknowledge that rovers have to look at this `homegrown` quota for next season and of course beattie qualifies as an homegrown player for us having been at the club for a prolonged period prior to his 21st birthday. his signing though still represents a major drop in standards for rovers. we are now signing a stoke cast off as a major player for our first team. we have fallen a long way since hughes left the club.

Why should we do that? He's hardly a spotty faced triallist is he? Everybody knows his abilities and limitations. Yesterdays man imo.

because sometimes a player playing at his boyhood club just works, dunn for example! why who do you think that we should buy if benni and roberts go?

This season he may well do very well, he usually does initially. it`s after that that`s my concern. hey, if he proves me wrong i`ll be the first to acknowledge it, but he`s had an england world cup place to play for in the past and that didn`t motivate him enough, so why should playing for rovers at a time in his career when he`s winding down?

to me it`s just an ideal opportunity for him to wrap up his career with a final big payday and settle back in his home area again.

suckered.

I think Beattie would be a good signing for all it's worth. Nothing to do with him being a Blackburner, but only down to the fact I think he is a better centre forward than Roberts.

I also don't think he is as one dimensional as some people on here are making out, and if you watched a video of all his goals, I bet you'd be suprised where a lot of them came from.

the goal for everton on the youtube clip is a typical beattie effort. no not the fact he chipped the keeper nicely, but because if you look there`s no movement from him and the ball just arrives at his feet. fuller shot his mouth off recently(one of his weaknesses) complaining about having to do the running of 2 men upfront for stoke. that tells you everything.

Beckford is a League 1 player (see Andrews)

Andrews comparisons are not big, and they're certainly not clever. Andrews was a league TWO player, not League One. When he did play in League One, he was pretty rubbish. By contrast, Beckford has been one of, if not the, best player in League One for about three seasons. The only reason Beckford hasn't played above League One so far is because Leeds wanted too much for him. And whilst I'm not a fan of Andrews, he hasn't turned out to be THAT bad a piece of business. If we hadn't had him last season (and no one else in place), we would have been screwed because he was our only central midfielder who avoided injury. Further, we could have sold him to Fulham for a profit in the summer, apparently. Beckford is a better player than Andrews, and a over a year younger (almost two) than Andrews was when we bought him. We got raped on Andrews' value because MK Dons knew we were a Premiership team, whilst Beckford will be available for considerably less than Leeds would ideally take for him because of his contract situation. Whilst I'm not saying Beckford is the answer to all our woes, he would almost certainly represent a much better bit of business than Andrews did- and if we'd cut him loose in the summer we'd have made a profit on him.

Our future HAS to lie in players with re-sale value, I'm not sure why some people continually refuse to understand this. If we replace two thirty-somethings with two more thirty-somethings on bigger wages and just a year younger, we are only giving ourselves an identical problem in a year or so. No money, no saleable assets, and a need for replacements.

when our 30 somethings get too old we simply let their contracts run out and then do what many clubs do now and join the scramble for bosman signings from europe.
