I know it's been like this for a while, but worrying that we are running out of (decent) players to sell, in order to raise funds.

I know JW and the board, have run the club very well, but how do we struggle to find a little bit of cash?

You must be some rich guy Iceman if you think that the odd million or so is "a little bit of cash".xmas.gif

C'mon Fife, for an Epl club a couple of million is hardly that much. We not talking about 10mill, its if stories are to be believed 1.5mill for Ledley. Im not saying Cardiff will accept that, but if they did then we need to make the cash available. If there are players like Ledley available, who would cost virtualy nothing and who would improve the squad then break the bank a little. JW is much smarter than the Pompey guys, so he will ensure that we dont end up in a situation similar to them.

I love the way people say "offer them pedersen, or offer them Roberts" pedersen is one of our top earners, Cardiff are in financial difficulty, do you really think they'd match his wages or he'd even be interested in droppig down a league.. Reality check needed!!!!

Cardiff have a good shot of promotion this season, and it could be possible for Rovers to pay a % of said player's contract to offload them. I'm sure few would object to this if it meant we could sign a decent midfielder.

Not just aimed at you mellison. Same thing was said when Adam Johnson was suggested at boro.

Boro could probably afford Roberts wages though right? He must be on 5-10k less than Pedersen, he may be willing to cut to play regularly, and Boro are reasonably okay financially I thought?

All of this speculation merely indicates who we might have been interested in if we had any money - in reality there 's likely to be very little activity either in or out as Sam forewarned everyone in last month's LT.

That reality also dictates that we can't even sign a 32 year old Beattie without selling a Benni/Roberts/MGP first.

Not exactly a happy situation but then everyone apart from me seems perfectly happy with our owners so you can't have it both ways.

Whilst it is blinking annoying that our owners never give any money, at least we haven't been blagged by some dodgy camel salesman pretending to be in with some rich Arab ruling family like Portsmouth. Surely there was some sort of 'fake Sheikh' kind of thing going there. Anyway, I think all this links will come to nowt and we'll have the same squad.

The Salgado bit of that story wound me up no end.

"Salgado enjoying life at Ewood Park"

I bet he is, sat there earning 40kp.w. for doing the square root of bugger all! Sheesh!

I would have expected that story to read:

"I have found real difficulty in coming to terms with the pace and physicality of the English game, and I apologise to the manager and the fans that they haven't seen the best of me but I have been making a real effort to get myself fitter and hope to show everyone what I am really capable of in the second half of the season and the rest of my time here."

Come on Rev, no-one is happy, but no-one wants to but the club.

So where does that leave us?

I don't think everyone else is happy with owners, manager, players or tactics but we are making the best of a bad job. In an ideal world there would be some genuinely rich guy who fell in love with rovers, bought us and invested loads of cash without wanting anything in return other than the sheer pleasure of owning rovers. In reality it doesn't work like that (well, not more than once in anyone's lifetime). We can criticise all we want but there's little prospect of real change at Ewood at the moment and while we can all see the catastrophic effects of getting in new owners who are totally incapable of running a club without plunging it into massive debt, then most of us voice our concerns but don't really see how things can change.

Rotschilds are not trying hard enough anyway, to find us a buyer.

Or maybe we are difficult to sell. I am far happier that we wait and find someone who has the interests of the club at heart and not a pompey type buyer.
