magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Im not going to get excited because he's french and unknown. Has anyone actually seen him play? A free agent means that he clearly isnt particularly sought after.

sam_rovers Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 can't be worse than andrews! so i'm happy if the signing does come off
Hughesy Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 According to Nicko he could be in line to play @ city. Short term move is a smart idea - no getting tied into a 3 year deal....if he proves a point then it just pushes the likes of MGP & Reid closer to the door
Kelbo Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Im not going to get excited because he's french and unknown. Has anyone actually seen him play? A free agent means that he clearly isnt particularly sought after. As a playmaker and good passer with 3 international caps he should be OK Scored a few goals a s well!! St Etienne wanted him!

Short term move is a smart idea - no getting tied into a 3 year deal....if he proves a point then it just pushes the likes of MGP & Reid closer to the door They're out of contract in summer anyway, the only issue is whether or not we can get any sort of fee for them now. Apologies if it's been posted before, but how old is Meriem?
joey_big_nose Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Nicko's piece in the Mirror It's Meriem again. Hmmm. Big advantage is we can now probably play 442 without having any of Douf, Andrews or Pedersen on the pitch, which has to be a good thing (even if Peds is doing a bit better at the moment).
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I have a feeling he will do the Dunn role in the 4-4-1-1.

Apologies if it's been posted before, but how old is Meriem? merium is 28 yrs old. he`s hardly an unknown either, a very highly rated player a few years ago but lost his way.

Apologies if it's been posted before, but how old is Meriem? No I know that, but if we are skint - in the summer one of them could maybe end up staying on a new deal.....im saying a new player who impresses would hopefully stop us offering any new deals to those 2 big earners
RevidgeBlue Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I see what you mean, however if we don't offer MGP or Reid new deals fairly imminently, I can't see them getting them just before their existing ones expire in the summer.
joey_big_nose Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 merium is 28 yrs old. he`s hardly an unknown either, a very highly rated player a few years ago but lost his way. apparently that is wrong. Someone put false info on his wiki
RoyRover Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Alan very impressed with the Coyle/Burnley love story in todays paper, its just a pity that the idiots of Burnley wont understand a single word of what Coyle says. Which paper was he talking in?
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Is he any good? Don't think i have seen him play... I know Eddie follows french football closely, will he be a good addition to the squad? an improvement on what we have?
Eddie Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Hm, he's ok. He was very highly rated a few seasons ago and he certainly has some talent, but he never fulfilled his potential and has struggled to get into sides for the past few seasons. Can't see him being anything special for us.
67splitscreen Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 The short term contract may be with one eye on the new regs. next season, if you are good enough to play 30 games a season your in if not your out. As for being a freebie, he's been injured for at least three months that I know of, so another reason to give him until the end of the season. As for our own out of contract players a number of which we are likely to get a pittance for, then replacing them with freebies/low cost layers is fine by me, in most cases will be less wages than the outgoing and as long as they can produce the goods what the hell. I can't see Sam's financial fortunes changing that much in the summer, so more of the same to be expected. Who knows there maybe a few unpolished diamonds around that even Wengar has missed. Players with the attitude and work ethic of N'Zonzi will not go a miss. (Birmingham City Mk 2) with a bit more fire power and quality. what more can we ask Hm, he's ok. He was very highly rated a few seasons ago and he certainly has some talent, but he never fulfilled his potential and has struggled to get into sides for the past few seasons. Can't see him being anything special for us. Here's hoping you are proved wrong on this one Eddie. Played an average of approx 27 games a season in the four years he was at Monaco, not to shabby for someone who failed to reach his potential. With the injury problem associated with actually getting him through the trial I hope it's not something that as blighted his career, Looking on the bright side we should be able to get 40+ out of him and Dunny.
Bobby G Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Once again he is 30 years old, as he was born in 1979. Nonetheless its a low risk move, which is good for us. However, doesnt he need to be registered to play against City? How can he?
Iceman Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 According to Nicko he could be in line to play @ city. Short term move is a smart idea - no getting tied into a 3 year deal....if he proves a point then it just pushes the likes of MGP & Reid closer to the door Then again, if he does brilliantly until the end of the season, then Spurs might be lurking or some other club. Hopefully, if he does well he will sign a longer contract
Iceman Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Apparently we have already signed Camel Meriem: Camel Meriem the Link tells me the account has been suspended... Nothing on the official website though
Jackson Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I see what you mean, however if we don't offer MGP or Reid new deals fairly imminently, I can't see them getting them just before their existing ones expire in the summer. Hopefully not. It's partly because of our past propensity to offer long and lucrative contracts that we are in the mire now and only able to offer a short term contract to this guy. The same problem will inevitably also see us carrying the same deadweight and dross come the end of the transfer window. Until these contracts run out and are not replaced, we will struggle to improve the squad.
G Somerset Rover Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 If this short-term deal for Meriem means that Andrews and Diouf have their pitch time kept to a bare minimum then I'm all for it.
Hughesy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 If this short-term deal for Meriem means that Andrews and Diouf have their pitch time kept to a bare minimum then I'm all for it. Agreed. I just hope Fulham come calling for Julie again....
alexanders Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Sergio Canales Class act and should be worth a look if there isn't any takers. His contract runs out this summer. Tore the Seville defence apart on Saturday and was really calm in front of goal for being an 18-year old.
