Hughesy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I see what you mean, however if we don't offer MGP or Reid new deals fairly imminently, I can't see them getting them just before their existing ones expire in the summer. We did offer MGP a new deal...however he turned it down as he wanted a pay rise - which correctly we turned down Reid was told to prove his fitness - which he could now do (however again I think he's a goner). Dunn however has to get a new deal! Tribal I know - United track NZonzi progress

waggy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 are we ever linked with british players,or is it easier to make a buck on foriegn players
Iceman Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 are we ever linked with british players,or is it easier to make a buck on foriegn players have you ever heard of over priced British players Waggy?
waggy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 well i think commoms and moses are decently priced
RevidgeBlue Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 We did offer MGP a new deal...however he turned it down as he wanted a pay rise - which correctly we turned down Are you sure, I thought it said in the LT negotiatiations hadn't even started with MGP about a new contract.
Iceman Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Would Meriem need International Clearance of some sorts, or being a free agent would he be able to go straight into the team? I noticed Nicko mentioned, he could be available tonight. In fact, has he officially signed because ive checked the official website and no mention of him signing.
Bobby G Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 He definitely wont go into the squad tonight. Thursday at best.
Iceman Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 He definitely wont go into the squad tonight. Thursday at best. aah cheers, i suppose that would make sense. Guessing, the official announcement would be made either tomorrow or Wednesday
47er Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 well i think commoms and moses are decently priced And we are the only ones interested?
Amo Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 If Meriem's joining our already stretched wage budget, I take it someone could be on their way?
RevidgeBlue Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Things must be quiet in general. SSN have actually gone to the lengths of contacting Gudjohnsen's Dad to ask him about rumours linking us with his son. Dad's response: "Nothing happening at the moment" Is Gudjohnsen's Dad his agent as well?
CrazyIvan Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 If Meriem's joining our already stretched wage budget, I take it someone could be on their way? Elrio probably made room.
Hughesy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 well i think commoms and moses are decently priced Moses is valued at £5m and is wanted by City....how do we get £5m & how do we compete with them for him? Are you sure, I thought it said in the LT negotiatiations hadn't even started with MGP about a new contract. They did in the summer...however he wasnt happy with the new terms. Infact I remember reading about it too.....il try and find the article And yes Gudjohnsen's dad is his agent
broadsword Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Is Gudjohnsen's Dad his agent as well? I seem to remember that he is, yes. Can't see us signing him, far too expensive.
Backroom Tom Posted January 11, 2010 Backroom Posted January 11, 2010 I'd rather be linked with young foreign lads personally, for example how much would Nzonzi or Samba have set us back had they been English?
Hughesy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I'd rather be linked with young foreign lads personally, for example how much would Nzonzi or Samba have set us back had they been English? Exactly TCO. Samba's English version is probably Lescott - £18m NZonzi - going off what he has played like so far - It would cost you at least £4m.
Amo Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Exactly TCO. Samba's English version is probably Lescott - £18m Eh, not when we bought Samba - struggling to break through at Hertha Berlin. But he still cost 1/5 of what Everton paid for Lescott.

Samba's English version is probably Lescott - £18m NZonzi - going off what he has played like so far - It would cost you at least £4m. At the moment, yes, but a PL reserve team centre-back without any hope of breaking into first team and a 20 yr old League One midfielder with one full season - not that much. Which they were before we bought them.

Which they were before we bought them. Put it this way - for players of their talent. We would not of got english players of the same ability for about £600k combined! If we take on a couple more young French/ Algerian lads then im all for it - if they can get into the France youth ranks they must have something going for them!
S15 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 N'Zonzi for £4m? Brilliant. Keep it up. Maybe i'm been unfair, but I'd be bleeding furious if we spent £4m on N'Zonzi.

Yeah surely the minimum going rate?? 20 years old, France U-21....already has 17 premier league starts under his belt & a long contract. Example - Fabrice Muamba - Joined Bolton for £5m + add-ons of £750k at age of 20
philipl Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 N'Zonzi for £4m? Brilliant. Keep it up. Maybe i'm been unfair, but I'd be bleeding furious if we spent £4m on N'Zonzi. We didn't- it was £400k but we could probably get £4m for him now given how the lad has progressed.
waggy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Moses is valued at £5m and is wanted by City....how do we get £5m & how do we compete with them for him? we can offer moses first team football which he won't get at citeh,if we can't raise 5 million we might as well join the fizzy pop now sam
