Bobby G Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Hughesy, not sure if you're aware of this but players need to have 'buyers' for us to sell. Just a minor flaw in your otherwise wonderful plan!!! Ive been laughing hysterically at your comment in the office. Sadly its more a nervous laugh over the sad state of affairs.

Hughesy Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Problem is that I cant see us doing it unless we sell. Lets get shut of Roberts, Reid & Zurab - bring in the two above & we look much stronger. Board need to back in January.... Hughesy, not sure if you're aware of this but players need to have 'buyers' for us to sell. Just a minor flaw in your otherwise wonderful plan!!! I didnt say sell them 3....I said I cannot see it unless we do 'sell' - But i meant sell a star.. I said get shut of those 3 & that the board need to back us. Keep up!
Fleabag Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Just seen matt derbyshire heading towards the ground. He was waiting to cross the road near mcdonalds so I waved him across in front of my car. He was probably just visiting friends but we could do worse than arrange a loan cause he ain't playing in greece I don't think.
Backroom Tom Posted January 12, 2010 Backroom Posted January 12, 2010 That would be the perfect exercise in pointlessness
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Well he's injured so that would make sense. Good bit of business by the club. He couldnt hack the premier league so i dont think itd be wise to bring him back in on any basis. If we're going to spend money it needs to be spent on players who we can be sure will make some impact (ie Gudjohnsen).
Guest Wen Y Hu Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Added here from the Transfer Digest thread for comment/discussion. Amr Zaki "Sky Sports News understands Stoke, Sunderland and Blackburn are all keen on bringing Egyptian striker Amr Zaki back to the Premier League." Sky Sports News, 12 January 2010 Prem trio keen on Zaki: Stoke, Sunderland and Rovers battle for Egyptian (thanks to ffan for the link) About Zaki: ...The forward failed to report to the club's Cairo headquarters for five days and Hazem Emam, a board member for the Egyptian giants, told FilGoal: "We are open to offers for Zaki. Any worthy offer will be accepted. "The club can no longer bear such actions. Missing training for several days without giving any explanations is an inexplicable action from a professional player like Zaki. He is transfer listed by his Egyptian club. People nag about Benni's stomach but is this the kind of discipline we want near our team? The above quote is taken from the Egyptian site, FilGoal.com: FilGoal.com, 6 January 2010 Zaki transfer-listed by Zamalek The same site has an Opinion Article on Zaki from the following day: "For someone who's eager to make a Premier League comeback, Amr Zaki's efforts are woefully inadequate." FilGoal.com, 7 January 2010 Zaki has nothing but a pipe dream
Majiball Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 So lets solve our striker crisis by signing someone with a worse professional reputation than any player we currently have?? Zaki can stay where he is.
Ricky Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I'd take Zaki on loan, his attitude stinks but he can score goals. He'd come in make an impact and then get up to his old tricks again. As a loan signing he could then be shipped off again. We have had a couple of players here before with pretty bad reputations to be fair.
Majiball Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Maybe till the end of the year but this guys a step above most. I'm a firm believer in better the devil you know.
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 100% agree Ricky, he seems to be a complete dick but I have no doubt that he would score treble Di Santo's total by February
Steve Moss Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Hughesy, not sure if you're aware of this but players need to have 'buyers' for us to sell. Just a minor flaw in your otherwise wonderful plan!!! The lack of buyers should be a wake up call to our players that they haven't exactly covered themselves with glory over the last few months/years. They are not the stars that they imagine and if they want to move on, they should be showing some effort on the pitch to increase their marketability. The fact they haven't clued into this is just another indicator of how dense/detached some of them truly are.
Oklahoma Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 It is pretty clear that we need to sell before we can buy players (once again). Players like Zurab, Reid, Pedersen, Benni, Roberts can all be sold... The problem is "WHo will buy them?"

Didnt he fail to score in the second half of the season for Wigan? He's the Egyptian Marco Negri. No thanks.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 After last night I'm starting to come round to the view that it doesn't matter who we sign if the tactics don't change, if we persist away from home in playing 4-5-1 without supporting the lone striker we'll lose thirteen out of our next sixteen away games as well. Playing devil's advocate as well: Sam hasn't had a lot of money but what he has had he's completely wasted. 6m on a striker he refuses to play. A fortune in wages on a past it Spanish international he refuses to play Van Heerden who never played A striker on loan who has been a complete failure yet got his loan period extended for some unknown reason! Only Nzonzi has been any sort of success and he still has a way to go. I think he's only in the side because the rest of our midfield is so poor - which again is partly down to Allardyce. Can anyone honestly see Sam ever changing his brand of football at this stage of his career? I can't.
Boz Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 No I can't see Sam changing his tactics. But I don't see his career lasting all that long either. I would have 10p on him retiring at the end of this season, due to health and a way of life choice.
67splitscreen Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 No I can't see Sam changing his tactics. But I don't see his career lasting all that long either. I would have 10p on him retiring at the end of this season, due to health and a way of life choice. Then four or five months gardening leave would not go a miss. Spring is just around the corner, I'm sure he has some bulbs that need putting into his preferred formation.
Iceman Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 100% agree Ricky, he seems to be a complete dick but I have no doubt that he would score treble Di Santo's total by February My great Irish friend, who shall be threading through those lovely passes from midfield, to allow Zaki to score? Id be happy to see Beattie in for Roberts, Eidur in for Andrews, Meriem for Reid.
mellison24 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 What we lack is creativity, yes. But we also lacka goalscorer. We need someone alongside kalinic to show him where the net is!
jonv Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 What we lack is creativity, yes. But we also lacka goalscorer. We need someone alongside kalinic to show him where the net is! THEY CAN'T EVENT GET A CLEAR CUT OPPORTUNITY ON A GOAL - THE ANSWER IS NOT ANOTHER FECKING STRIKER... we need a proper midfield period
RevidgeBlue Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 THEY CAN'T EVENT GET A CLEAR CUT OPPORTUNITY ON A GOAL - THE ANSWER IS NOT ANOTHER FECKING STRIKER... we need a proper midfield period I have to go back to the point: What's the point in signing any midfielders if we just launch the ball high over their heads up towards Di Santo/Samba etc. Imo the only two times we've played really well under Sam were in the second half against Bolton at home and Chelsea in the Cup when we had 3 strikers on the pitch and enough manpower at the business end of the pitch to cause the oposition problems. Maybe that's the only way to go under Sam, three strikers on the pitch at all times, and sacrifice one of our ineffective wide men
mellison24 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 THEY CAN'T EVENT GET A CLEAR CUT OPPORTUNITY ON A GOAL - THE ANSWER IS NOT ANOTHER FECKING STRIKER... we need a proper midfield period I said we lack creativity didn't I? I just ALSO think the strikers need sorting. But agree that the midfield is a priority. Calm down dear.
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 My great Irish friend, who shall be threading through those lovely passes from midfield, to allow Zaki to score? Id be happy to see Beattie in for Roberts, Eidur in for Andrews, Meriem for Reid. Andrews will be providing them Any striker who can actually shoot towards goal would out score Franco, regardless of the midfield behind them. I do agree that we need to play a second striker up front to give who ever is up there a chance to score.
Brfcrule1 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Hi all, can Nicko let us know what is happening about Camel Merium the free agent released by monacoI know he was in talks and had a medical according to the mirror site and was due to sign a short term contract till the end of the season today does anyone know has he joined as yet am excited because he is susposedly a winger with pace and would solve our creativity problems and hell anyone would be better than Morten can't cross for toffee pederson!. I have look all over but no official confirmation yet anywhere
brfc_jonesy Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Alladyce's tactics are the way there are because we have no quality in our side to play any other way. Ince in my opinion took us down here, Alladyce is doing the best he can with players who don't cut it. We can't attract anyone decent to the club anymore. It's gonna be another struggle. Players like Gudjohnsson ain't going to come to us, only players in league 2 in Kuwait or some joke of a leauge would come to us at the moment, especially on the pitance we'd pay them (I really hope Gudjohnsson comes though )
