Has anybody mentioned Burkhas?:unsure: (cletus ducks for cover! )

I`m NOT being racist here. I think it`s bloody dangerous & the wearing of them whilst driving should be banned.

They hinder vision & body language also plays a big part in driving....ie when turning, pulling out, manouvering etc, you cannot tell if you`ve been seen/aknowledged by a burkha wearing driver.

I`m pretty sure if i drove around wearing a full-face balaclava, i`d eventually get pulled by the plod & warned against doing so.

How the bleeding hell does body language play a part in driving?

You don't go bouncing your head side to side when you're turning!

Usually when you are acknowledged, the person flashes at you or raises their hand/fingers at you. I don't know what type of acknowledgment you're looking for

Its been interesting seeing the so called high end performance cars struggle like mad in these snowy conditions, especially BMW cars.

Was having to help push a fairly new BMW 5 series up the small brow onto Oakdale yesterday, then a Lexus had to be pushed.

Watching the back ends of a few BMW's slide form side to side was suprising to say the least, how these cars have struggled to cope given the price of them is unbelievable.

Most BMW's tend to have a problem with that, with them being Front Wheels Drives, the back end tend to spin out quite a lot. It's pretty bad in wet conditions too, would be terrible in snow.

We had a Smart Car parked on top of the hill, geezer switched his car off and went because he couldn't get it up the hill.

BMW`s are rear wheel drives ;)

It plays a part in driving. Would you pull out infront of somebody if you thought you`d not been seen? I wouldn`t.

Indicators play a big part, but people can also leave indicators on by accident, or fail to indicate.

Also the flashing of headlights is not legally recognised. Try telling mr plod an accident wasn`t your fault "cos you were flashed out" It doesn`t work. How do you know the driver was flashing you? They could`ve been flashing or waving to somebody else.

Not all drivers wave or aknowledge other drivers either. As this thread has mentioned, there`s plenty of ignorant drivers with little or no road sense or etiquette (sp?)

I`m not saying 'body language' is the be all & end all, but if you take it away the risk of mis-understanding a situation increases.

Welcome to the Stone Age

That guy with the paper would be in tucks of laughter if he could see the other one trying to eat the spaghetti through her eye socket! :lol:Heaven helps them that helps themselves as they say. If they are daft enough to wear stupid, unsuitable and irrelevent costumes then thats up to them. Just say 'NO' girls.

This maybe a silly question, I don't know but anyway....Driving licenses are required to have a photo ID, would they have to remove their vail for this?

Also, would they have to remove their vail before they sat their test for ID perposes?

I think they remove the veils in both cases IF the cover the face. Although, not altogether certain.

Never mind the letter box, the below quote is just as worrying

“The language barrier can create problems and sometimes you have to start with simple things like traffic lights and what to do, but we get there eventually."

Imagine them mistaking 'stop. Stop! STOP!!!' for 'go. Go! GO!!!'. As I said. Bloody dangerous.

On the Driving Test a female examiner will take the candidate into a private room and ask them to remove the veil to check their intendity.

.....on a slightly similar note, i had an asian woman get into my taxi only last week. She was dressed quite normal. When we arrived at her destination she asked me not to park directly outside the house but stop on the corner. She then asked "if i could see her face?" When i looked around, she had put on a black full face veil & a black thing over her normal clothing. I was quite taken aback by the sudden change of appearance. She went on to say her husband would 'kill her' if he saw her out without the burkha on & getting out of a 'white taxi'.

I thought the full face burkha was supposed to be a garment of choice by muslim women? This woman was obviously under strict instructions to wear it in public.

I didn`t mind though. In her haste to get out of the car & not be seen, she gave me a £20 note & said "keep the change" before hurrying off :tu:
