blue_and_white Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Or maybe she's just a fan who prefers not to join these childish witch-hunts after every defeat. I bet half of you lot are the exact same people demonising Pedersen a few weeks ago. Before that was it Andrews? Before that Roberts? Now Pedersen is our best player, Roberts is our best striker and I've heard a few fans say we miss Andrews in the middle. This fickle, forgetful merry-go-round of blame is laughable and thank god some fans try to consider whether the player in question really does deserve it before blaming everything on them.
bazza Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 He's meant to be able to play all across the back line. I'll wager he's played 40 games at least at left back for us and Spuds, that's hardly out of position. He's pants, he was before we signed him and he still is. Nelsen should have know what what was going on around him he should shoulder blamd as much as "banana's on his feet". Fact is not one player can take any credit from Saturday, worst result in our premier league history. Here's hoping they are chomping at the bit to turn "the Wolves" into lame dogs. At the risk of turning this into a Josh Morris thread, I beg to differ.
alexanders Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I can't believe Nelsen is mentioned in the same sentence as 'Chimbonda's horrible back-pass' Nelsen pointed to pass back to Robinson not Berbatov, the weight on the pass was all wrong but blame Nelsen for obstructing Chimbonda's view, Chimbonda obviously couldn't see Berbatov Just a point, Jones' back-pass against Spurs, if Pavlyuchenko had scored, alexanders and all the others who said something similar, would you be saying this about Jones.......... 'I hope he never puts on the blue and white halves again'? No. Jones has the right attitude. Chimbonda doesnt.

But Chimbonda was spectacularly bad. The fans have every right to voice their disgust at such a diabolical performance, although it should be said that Sam's a tit for keeping him on.
RIML Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 No. Jones has the right attitude. Chimbonda doesnt. My misunderstanding, your post just seemed to refer to his bad performance against United, saying he lacked effort and doesn't seem to care. It seemed a bit harsh especially when most of the team lacked effort and no other players were mentioned. I think it was the Bolton game last season when Grella came on as a sub and Andrews played at centre half, Chimbonda was taking his time warming up, giving the impression he didn't want to play, so maybe this is also why you think he lacks effort. Interesting to see that Samba and Jones won just one tackle during the game also.

Yeah just as fans have every right to defend him without having to put up with personal insults. I never thought I'd see the day where a Rovers fan was pounced on for defending a Rovers player, in fact it disgusts me. No wonder it was kicking off at Old Trafford when we have fans so determined to slate the team they claim to support and try to bully others into doing it.
Muddboy Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Chimbo's been put on the transfer list, if the Daily Mail's to be believed...
Steve Moss Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Salgado is a full back but he'd probably be just as bad as Chimbonda playing at left back. No. Jones has the right attitude. Chimbonda doesnt. Exactly. Jones and Salgado present themselves as if they want to be Rovers, are grateful to be allowed to wear the shirt, and will fight every step of the way. They may make mistakes (and have) and they may be overmatched (and have been) but they are fighters. I don't have the same impression of Chimbonda. The only vibe I get from him is bad atttitude, and not in a B.A. Baracus type of way. Chimbo's been put on the transfer list, if the Daily Mail's to be believed... Good.
Rover Down Under Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Chimbo's been put on the transfer list, if the Daily Mail's to be believed... Well if this is true it's very odd. You don't transfer list a player after a bad game, maybe he is causing the grief in the background that is being hinted at, with the number of clubs he's been at it wouldn't surprise me.
philipl Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 He had actually played well the game before last.
chaddyrovers Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Chimbo's been put on the transfer list, if the Daily Mail's to be believed...
Ozz Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Chimbo's been put on the transfer list, if the Daily Mail's to be believed... This happens every November though.
Inta Beaver Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I can just see the queue of clubs waiting to snap him up!
broadsword Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6366315,00.html He was kept on because he's versatile - he's an indolent, lacksadaisical, ornamental useless git in a number of positions. Cool.
67splitscreen Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 LT also reporting he has been told he can leave in January, so must have one foot out the door. Who is going to take him though?.
roversmum Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I can just see the queue of clubs waiting to snap him up! Hasn't he already tried most of them?
John Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Blackburn have told full-back Pascal Chimbonda he can leave the club in the January transfer window. Manager Sam Allardyce said: "We are not going to renew his contract. "His determination is to find a new contract and we feel for both concerned it is better to let him see what he can get in January."
G Somerset Rover Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 And to think that some said he's been a great Warnock replacement. That's £1.5 million peed down the drain. These are the sort of signings that the new owners have to avoid.
alexanders Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 The goal against Burnley was probably worth it though.

Easier said than done as Chimbonda came with good pedigree, started off his Ewood Park career superbly, then it just fell away dramatically. Similar parellels to Lars Bohieniem (sp)
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Chimbonda is one of the most frustrating players we have at Rovers - when he first arrived he put in the effort, throwing himself into last ditch tackles - with a never say die attitude to defending - allied with a fair degree of footballing skill and pace. Since those early days - for me - he has just grown lazy - half hearted attempts to stop crosses or goal attempts - struggles to run back - and a total lack of concentration. IMO he was a strange signing anyway - but he won me over in his first few matches - he has since lost any support I had for him. I wouldn't say waste of space - but definitely a waste of talent - he could have been an absolutely first class defender but he obviously has motivational issues.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted December 3, 2010 Moderation Lead Posted December 3, 2010 I agree he's frustrating. Started promisingly, scored against Burnley but been largely disappointing. I won't be shedding a tear if he leaves anyway!

Similar parellels to Lars Bohieniem (sp) I think deep down we knew he was a bit of a mercenary though given the moves and trouble that he's caused in the past. We needed a specialist left back and ended up with him. Yeah he started off okay but since the Burnley home game he's been dreadful. Also, I can't see how Allardyce can play him at all now after publicly declaring that he's off at the earliest opportunity. A player with no heart hardly needs any added invitation to not put in a shift.
Gav Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 The goal against Burnley was probably worth it though. It was indeed
