[Archived] Racist Chanting By "Rovers Supporters"

Some members of this board will seem to think that is okay <_<

Anyone know an email address that I can contact the club about regarding all of this. I'm sure the more fans that complain the quicker it will get resolved!

I second this. I would be happy to complain. It's a tricky position since they are away games. Would the solution be for Blackburn to contribute to a little extra policing at away games (as I'm sure it would be a bit cheeky to expect the home team to pay more for us), or simply to inform our opponents to be extra vigilant? Either way it is embarrassing that these individuals are tarnishing our clubs good name.

If you pm me I'll either give you an email address or you can send a complaint via me as the secretary of the Fans Forum. I already made a complaint on a personal basis after the Hull game and as I have mentioned previously the club are aware of the problem and keen to do something asap. Some posters on here suggested that there were Rovers stewards at Wigan and that some fans were taken out but I don't know if this is true or not.

This is likely to be on the agenda at the next Fans Forum meeting on 18th January.

There were Rovers stewards at the wigan game who spoke to a rovers supporter about the chanting. I heard a warning being given, but nothing more first of all. Then the idiot repeated the singing and was removed from the ground by wigan stewards, the latter having been spoken to by the Rovers steward. I saw and spoke with the same steward at ewood in the blues bar before the Sunderland game.

To be honest it wasn't the singing that annoyed me that game, but the dangerous walk to the ground and being crushed like a sardine at half time in the concourse area. The place was a death trap.

Any more matches like Sunderland and some might start to do that at HT on purpose!

The Coyle going to Bolton thing may halt this chant ;)

Apparently not if our fans at Wigan were chanting "we hate p***s"

My boss is a Wigan season ticket holder and he told me the chants were VERY audible to everyone in the stadium. Do that at a media darling club down south and we will be in the news...

As was the Wigan fans chanting ' You're just a town full of pakis', did he not mention that too.

I hope our letter writers are also sending a similar complaint to Wigan Athletic.

He did actually, but the point I was making was exactly that - at a place like Wigan it's people in glass houses stuff. Do it at Chelsea, or Arsenal, or Spurs and it will end up in the news.

Well somehow I doubt that their now automatic doubling of taxi fares over the Christmas period does much to enamour them to the general public in Blackburn does it? My family must have paid a fortune over the past 2-3 weeks in taxi fares! Also my daughter left her phone in a taxi and despite phoning her phone (which needless to say had been switched off) and the taxi company almost immedietely after she got home it seems that has gone for good. Second time this has happened btw. <_<

I wonder how other businesses charging double over Ramadin would fare?

Not really the point that though is it? Every pub/club/venue increases it's prices on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. It's a free market - don't use them. They'll soon stop. But not really a reason to tar everyone with the same brush and chant about it at a football match is it? :glare: Thomas Cook holidays are more than double over the school holidays but I don't hear the Blackburn End family stand chanting "we hate travel agents"

You're condoning racist chants because of some (allegedly) dodgy taxi drivers?

Oh and it's Ramadan.

And still, you'll find every last excuse to stick up for the racist scum. All South Asians can be represented by taxi drivers in Blackburn increasing their fares in line with much of the rest of the country, or by one or two people stealing their mobile phone from a taxi. Makes perfect sense.

You are truly a sad, vile, prejudiced, pathetic little man.

If they did it's just as bad but has no bearing on this thread at all

People try to defend the indefensable at times.

I hope a few lifetime bans are en route for the ones that get caught, only way to stop it.

It is common practice most places in the uk to charge more during Christmas etc. New year mainly - makes no difference the colour of the driver etc. But you are right double was what my wife and I were charged during christmas.

I'm not condoning anything. One can never defend the indefensible but I'm merely pointing out that the white trash on the BBurn end who sing these songs are having resentment handed to em on a plate. A £5 taxi ride rising to £10 cos it's Christmas is a big issue for many people. Point being that Christmas is just another day and another dollar for muslims. They should really be happy with the increased business without taking the mickey.

I don`t know of any taxi firms in Blackburn charging double over the festive period Theno.....& i`m a taxi driver

Most firms (but not all) charged 'time & a half' from 6pm christmas eve to 6am on the 27th & then again from 6pm on new years eve to 6am on the 2nd Jan. I think that`s fair enough, considering a lot of other people who work over the festive period get double time. Would you work for normal time?

Infact Gordon, i hate to p1ss on your chips but a few of the 'asian' taxi firms worked for normal time throughout the festive period.....something which 'irked' a lot of other firms, cos it has always been time & half.

Like somebody else stated, 'it`s your choice'. There`s a phone book full of taxi firm numbers & all you have to do is ask "is it normal fares tonight?"

If you don`t mind being ferried around in a taxi that`s falling to bits & creeks when you go round corners by a driver who speaks any one of 18 languages, then jump in the 'normal fare' car & cross your fingers. I`d much rather travel in relative comfort, in a reasonably new car (mine`s a lovely one ;)) whilst chatting to a driver who can actually speak the language......but that lovely car comes at a price (time & half over christmas & new year)

I worked new years eve & tbh i was fully pre-booked from 6pm through to 5am. If my boss had told me to charge just normal fare, i`d have taken the night off & enjoyed the festivities like everybody else seemed to be doing.

As opposed to the other taxi drivers who are non asian and charge the standard rate :wstu: It is what taxi drivers do, what has being asian have anything to do with it? (please dont say that all taxi drivers are asian)
