Grayson was my choice before we got Coyle - his work at Blackpool was fantastic, played it how the occasion called for it, rough and ready or silky passing. Not a chance in hell he'd leave Leeds for us - maybe for you due to better infrastructure and budgets plus history but not us.

Phelan from what I hear is a non starter - story is he didn't even return their calls last time

Davis - One of those you'd kind of love to see and see work but to big a risk IMO with having nil experience.

O'Driscoll - Well I've said he's my choice. Still a gamble but I think we have to take risks here.

Fergie JNR - I guess similar to O'Driscoll with less time behind him.

Warnock - My choice if we go safe hands. Actually played more football in the championship than he got credit for and does know how to park the bus.

Curbishley - Don't think he would even consider coming North for us

Shearer - Hehe, good one, would be worth it just to watch a few on here explode

Kinnear - No thanks

Keith Hill - no nothing of him so can't comment but sounds like the right kind of gamble.

As for the way we will approach any in work managers - I'd imagine exactly like all the others do - sneakily via mobile phones, friends and agents. What I hope we don't do is use a press contact to, amongst other things, besmirch the reputation of the club the manager currently works for.

As a side note, Sky were reporting he was going to take training today until it was cancelled due to weather - a bizarre story if true - perhaps it was to say goodbye to the players (if so I hope he plans to tap up Caldwell and take him with him as Cahills replacement :-) )

Compo £1m for three years tells you what the dingles doubled his wages from when he got them promoted!

Just goes to show how grim life is for a small Lancashire club outside the Premier League.

Burnley have a real problem now- they will be asked to pay PL wages to a management team who in all probability will get them relegated.

Incidentally, the 24 hour break presumably holds OC back from taking charge at the Emirates and thus absolving him of responsibility for yet another away day thrashing.

It would not surprise me if they came in for Sam. Tight budgets etc

Ouch, did you here that Nicko, I think Longsider means you.

I live in Rochdale so I've followed Hill's future quite closely. He's an ex centre half but the 'Dale play tremendous football with a big emphasis on keeping the ball on the floor, bit like Sam (Winks ). I've really been impressed, I'd guarantee that he'd have done a better job than Ince ( I know, it's not saying much ). Somebody brave enough will get a good 'un here.

They would have to pay us big compo - so no chance of that.

+ Can you see him being accepted by Dingle fans?! Nope!

We took him on even though he is ex-bolton. They would see it as something to gloat about. Compo is what they would receive for Coyle going to Bolton.

£1m compo for him - Probably £3m+ for Sam and his team + triple the wages.....No chance!

I most certainly do. The thing with spin is that eventually, as even Blair discovered, it spins all the way around.

As for going for Sam? Well it was not even remotely likely was it but I don't think there'd be much problem accepting him.

As I say re Hill, if he's what you say then lets hope our board have their ear to the ground and can find another gem.

Dingles said he is gone -HE HAS NOT.

Coyle To Leave Burnley

Posted on: Tue 05 Jan 2010

Owen Coyle has today reaffirmed his desire to leave Burnley Football Club and join Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

Burnley Football Club will now enter discussions with Bolton Wanderers Football Club, due to the fact that compensation between the two parties has yet to be agreed.

There will be no further comment at this time.

From Dingles Official.

Basically, he's turned down Kilby's improved transfer kitty, I reckon?

Don't know Mr Coyle at all, never met him so this is pure hear say but I know someone on the staff at Bumley (the footballing side not admin) and he paints an interesting picture of him. He says his primary strength is as a motivator and as a man manager however he is a bit light on the technical side!! Relies on his backroom staff a lot in that department, which is fair enough I guess, first law of leadership in my book is to surround yourself with good people.

Bolton's squad is not going to change radically before the end of the transfer window so they will go with what they have got. That team is set up for a particular style of play which Coyle will find tough to change in the short term so the main thing he will bring to their party is a bit of zest and pepper in the team spirit department. Given the experience of the Bolton players that could well be enough to float them out of the relegation zone to safety.

Longer term though it hints that Mr Coyle will need to travel as a unit with the rest of his managerial staff when the next move comes a knocking as he may not be up to strength to carry a bigger club on his own coaching abilities. Maybe this need to extricate his staff from Bumley is what's causing the current hold up.

As I said the caveat here is that this is just the opinion from one insider, could be biased clap trap for all I know, but it is interesting never the less.

I've been a great admirer of Coyle and his achievements and I do think he will end up as a top manager however I'll be watching closely over the years to see if the Emporer really has those new clothes.

Still think he should have stayed at Bumley though. Nicko, don't beat me up

Does Owen endorse sports science and if so who's his man??

Thanks for the insight.
