PAFELL Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Far from being an impossibility. Burnleys players may not adapt to the next manager and ditto for Boltons with Coyle. Do either clubs have the time necessary for such upheavels? New manager sydrome will kick in for awhile - which will give each a few points. Therefore Rovers need to kick on now.

tonygreenbank Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Have to say I find this a very strange appointment. If there is ever a sideways move in football management then this has to be it. We had Gordon Lee going to Everton; Howard Kendall the same; Hughesy going to moneybags City but I dont undersdtand the attraction of Bolton! They and Burnley will both be fighting relegation come April and methinks Burnley`s future is better than Bolton`s. Their fans are hurting just now but we Roverites have had our fair share of disappointment for many years now.Burnley will appoint and move on but their stay in the sun will unfortunately be a brief one.
den Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Agree, they are a tough breed, thats why they make great football managers, Fergusen, Shankley, Busby, Dalglish,George Graham, Souness the list is long and they appear in general to be more successful than English managers!! I wonder why? I can't remember who said it, but someone once said that you never see Scottish managers wearing the necklaces and Jewellery that the likes of Ron Atkinson did. There is a point in there if you wish to find it.
PAFELL Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Megson to Burnley would round my day off perfectly No no Ince would be better for them.
American Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I'll be very disappointed if the away section doesn't sing a loud "Owen Coy-le do do do do!" when we play there in March.....

Heres the situation as I see it, Coyle went to Burnley and got them playing geat football and got them promoted, in doing so his reward was a better contract, but, in their wisdom Burnley kept a pay structure to that of a Championship Club, it was OK for a while, early season, we have seen this dozens of times where clubs get results and then it goes a bit pear shaped!! Coyle has two options, he takes a gamble and continues in the same vein or he goes and gets new players in, now here is the problem, the players he would like, maybe only squad players at their present clubs, are earning £24,000 and beyond, yes there are other available players who would play for £14,000 but are not good enough to improve the squad as they would be Championship players at best or ones you take a gamble on, but he has gambled on some of these lads and he needs experienced prem players to help them through!! Burnley paid Nugent £14k per week with Portsmouth paying him the rest, Pompey said no more loan we want to sell, OK so Burnley buy him, will he drop £10 to £20k per week?? So Coyle knows he cant improve the squad - at Bolton he can improve them, has the money to do so and pay them Premiership wages to boot, so yes, the potential to do better at Bolton than Burnley at this moment is much better at The Breezeblock, that I understand to be Coyles thinking, he has not had the backing of the board. Even at Rovers with little cash, we pay Prem wages and to compete thats what you have to do!!
eddiewac Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I'll be very disappointed if the away section doesn't sing a loud "Owen Coy-le do do do do!" when we play there in March..... How about everyone wearing them Owen Coyle masks? I'm sure they'll be appreciated. Or just a banner saying "Thank you Owen King Coyle (God)"
Derby Blue Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 This surely leaves Bolton in a very strong posistion regarding compensation. They know he wants to come, its in the open now, and the dingles now hate him - there's no going back. If they don't agree, where does that leave them? With a manager who doesn't want to be there and hated by the fans. I can't believe compensation wasn't agreed before they had the chance to speak to him.
Clitherover Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 You're going down, you're going down, you're going, dingles going down.
FourLaneBlue Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 In such a case I'm sure Coyle could come out with a tearful speech saying how he thought about it hard and that he feels he has started something at t'Turf and he wants to finish it. The Burnley fans would suddenly all call him God again and all will be well in the Dingle World. Well...until the next Prem vacancy comes along anyway...
den Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Is the agreement between PL club chairmen not to approach another PL club's manager during the season, been ripped up, or does the get out clause override that? Anyone?
braddock Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I'll be very disappointed if the away section doesn't sing a loud "Owen Coy-le do do do do!" when we play there in March..... apparently burnley sing it differently http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=104&fid=297&sty=2&act=1&mid=2123383622
Backroom Tom Posted January 5, 2010 Backroom Posted January 5, 2010 On Clarets Mad we're almost popular now, most would rather Bolton go down than us now
jodrell Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Owen Coyle he wares a magic hat He saw the Dingles transfer budget He said sod that lot, I’m off to NOTLOB
Hughesy Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 HA it gets better - Bolton or Rovers - Dingles choice for relegation 40+ replies - only 2 would prefer us to get relegated........... Hopefully our game is the 27th - Bolton v Burnley is on the 26th and iv got to get a ticket to that - Sit with all them bolton fans in that corner near the away end - with a rovers shirt on - Maybe a flag too "Coyle is a Rover"
FourLaneBlue Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 You didn't really try with those last two lines did you jodrell? Things are getting bad In Burnleyland. They have this thread up and running... Given the choice, would you rather Bolton or Rovers go down? Yep...it really has got that bad. Bloody hell Hughesy...spooky timing. They also have a song thread where they have come up with this gem... Who the f*** is owen coyleWho the f*** is owen coyle Who the f*** is owen coyle and the Clarets go marching on on on Wonderful...first he was God. Then he was Judas. Now they are going to pretend they can't remember him... that'll work!
eddiewac Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Owen Coyle he wares a magic hat He saw the Dingles transfer budget He said sod that lot, I’m off to NOTLOB Owen Coyles magic, he wears a magic hat, he saw the bolton vacancy and he said I'll have that! He left the dingle scum to rot, he left them all to frown, so lets all hail King Coyle for sending burnley down!
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I think i will see who Burnley bring in before predicting if they will go down. If they get someone in who can keep their home form pretty decent but at the same time make them hard to beat on their away travels (their away form is the worst in the league even worse than ours!) then there is a chance they could stay up. Bolton are probably in a better position to stay up, will have money to spend in January and have those 2 games in hand but there is no guarantee Coyle will be a success there. If the player's don't take to his methods or they spend money on dross then they could quite easily go down as well. On Coyle he has done a very good job at Burnley makes them play decent football and seems to bring in decent players on a low budget, its will be really interesting to see how he does with more money at his disposal. I don't think he has shown yet how good he is or isn't tactically, his refusal to play a different style/formation away from home has made Burnley drop a lot of points and looks like there may be questions over his tactical ability. I don't hate Burnley but to see sides that will be there with us fighting for survival in turmoil is good for our chances of staying up.
joey_big_nose Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Wonderful...first he was God. Then he was Judas. Now they are going to pretend they can't remember him... that'll work! Why are they so ###### off, what has he done so wrong? Bad news for the club but realistically he has got them promoted and playing well and conducted himself like a gentleman broadly speaking.
RovertheHill Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 At least they haven't tried to set his wife's clothes on fire yet thankfully...
RevidgeBlue Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Is the agreement between PL club chairmen not to approach another PL club's manager during the season, been ripped up, or does the get out clause override that? Anyone? If there is such a general agreement in force (I wasn't aware of it) I'm fairly sure it would be over-ridden by any specific clauses in a manager's contract. Which of course the Club would have to agree to as well.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Would it be too much to hope that the two Clubs can't agree on compensation, Kilby decides too much water has gone under the bridge, cans Coyle and both Clubs end up without a manager? Oh well we can but dream!
dillhallblue Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Nicko, do you know if there's any truth in that the dingles are going for Huddersfield's Lee Clark as there next boss ??? Would he be worth a punt ???
Kelbo Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Nicko, do you know if there's any truth in that the dingles are going for Huddersfield's Lee Clark as there next boss ??? Would he be worth a punt ??? Sean O'Driscal might though
sambo Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Coyle was a dingle, but now he is a White He must have finally realised - that Burn-e-ley are @#/? They're really f*cked without him, they're defo going down The Dingles will get upset, and trash their scummy town...
