[Archived] Megson Sacked, Coyle Takes Over

To be fair to Philip, he sings Chelsea's and Aston Villa's praises also. So his management 'praise' is not limited to the Rovers. Deservedly so, as I think Chelsea, Aston Villa and Rovers are all well run clubs (unlike some-cough-cough-ManC-cough-ManU).

Considering that Coyle is the reason they finally made the big time, Burnley fans are again demonstrating that they are truly idiots. Coyle got them to the EPL. He was a good manager for them. He's moving on and they're acting like scorned women.

Chelsea well run? You've a great knowledge of football clearly.

As for Coyle, I'm not anywhere near as arsed as some. Once you start referring to yourself in the third person then you've got above your station. It's Kilby who rescues our club time and again, I trust him to make another good appointment.

And I presume none of you who mock some of my fellow Dingles' over-reactions were patrons of Deadwood when Shearer left for pastures new.

Come on you Clarets.

Hilarious. It's like the X-Files on here with Dingles and Revidge tryingto prove the CIA were flying the planes into the towers... wait, er, no, prove that Alan Nixon is the Dr Evil behind all of this  ClaretsMad is like some spurned tart's Facebook page and how long until we reach the "well I didn't really like him anyway" stage as you are already at the "bothered" stage. Fantastic. Presumably all this bile aimed at Mr Nixon wasn't the case when he introduced Burnley to Coyle? Maybe the St Johnstone fans did the same thing but nobody noticed? I hope you all remember your Judas and loyalty crap the next time you lot want a player sold or manager sacked...

I will reserve judgement over this, I have had pretty strong information from links to Turf Moor that the problem lies much closer to home than Alan Nixon or even Owen Coyle, I will not post what I have been told as I gave my word to the person who supplied the information and that trust will not be broken.

However, I do hope it does come into the open as I think some people have been saughtered over this issue and it is in the main undeserved! When this does break, the name 'Judas' will really be appropriate!!

Sam Dingle is correct, we were gutted when Shearer left but like Coyle he gave the club so much!!

Thats football and life, you take opportunities whilst your stock is at its highest for it may not last!!!

Like the loyalty they showed Jimmy Mclroy all those years ago!!!!!!!

In today's Mirror Nicko already seems to be trying to rebuild some bridges around Turf Moor by advertising their supposed interest in Simon Grayson and pointing out they could offer him five times his current salary IF they decide to offer him the post.

(Apologies I can't get the linking thing to work for some reason. Perhaps someone could assist.)

However it shouldn't take long for him to be as popular around Leeds as he currently is in Burnley at that rate.

Not sure what happened to the earlier Phelan/G.Neville prediction.

I simply cannot see Grayson leaving Leeds for us, not in a million years.

On the well run club thing. I have given your club credit on here in the past for being well run. I think in recent years your board have done exceptionally well in their management of your club but please don't forget the huge advantage you had of Jack building the team and the infrastructure around the club.

Burnley have not benefited from huge investment and we have not been fortunate like the Boltons/Charltons to get into the Prem early and have a few years during which we could rebuild the infrastructure and team but that doesn't mean we are badly run.

That said I take the criticism as fair of the risks that were taken last season - but even they were done on the back of a guarentee of funding from a director that in the end could not be fulfiled. I guess that explains the clubs determination to live only on incomes they can be assured of and can generate themselves.

I'd hate to see a former Rover in the hotseat over there - especially one who could do a good job at Ewood one day

I notice also this was just behind the story about the compo being £1m.

Is Alan Nixon public enemy no 1 in Burnley because of his role in Owen Coyles career to date or because of his links to BRFC, both to the club and to this web site? Or a bit of both?

I think he's committed the heinous crime of trying to keep a foot in both camps. Hence he gets it from both sides!

Thankfully for Nicko, he's now on the fence between Rovers and Bolton, where (1) we don't have a massive rivalry, and (2) Bolton don't have anyone to have an official local derby with. (Unless they get a cup match with Bury!)

Thanks for that.

Nicko just can't win with some of the fans on the Carrots Mad website over there, who seem to reckon there is nothing at all in the Grayson story and this is merely a smear attempt to make it look like Burnley tap up managers in the same way Bolton did with Coyle.

Even I would say that's stretching the imagination a bit.

Oh well, you make your bed etc. etc..................

I hope Grayson stays at Leeds, he could do a better job than Coyle in my opinion.

You seem a bit obsessed with Nicko if you don't mind me saying so? Why is that? I'm glad he's on here and I hope you don't make him think its not worth it. You're not jealous of him are you?

Why would he be jealous of him?

In my eyes, RevBlue has posted numerous times with great knowledge of football and majority of his posts are very sensible, and talks more sense than half the dumbwits on here.

And obsession with Nicko? I think majority of this MB does. So he wouldn't be the only one if he did.

Or Burnley did with Coyle one might say...

Reading that Nixon article re Grayson, I do hope Burnley are not now feeding him info so we can unsettle Grayson.

For the record I don't think there is a cat in hells chance he will come to us - but I wish he would, I wanted us to go for him when we got Coyle.

I can't help but wonder whether this is all part of a smokescreen, Grayson was pretty categoric in recent statement that he has said:

Grayson said: "My commitment to Leeds United has never been in question.

"I left Blackpool a year ago to join the football club I supported.

"Leeds is a fantastic football club and I am not interested in going anywhere else."

So I can't see this at all. Maybe it is a smokescreen to cover who we are really after?

Or Burnley did with Coyle one might say...

Burnley did with Coyle? What you mean we got an email saying Coyle was interested in the job and so approached his club, spoke to him with their consent then agreed the compensation package?

Seems like someone is splitting hairs.

End of the day...Coyle was under contract at another team. You went after him and got him. Bolton did the same.

At the end of the day, all the rest is superfluous.

Rev, have you ever employed anybody? Unfortunately or fortunately, employment law means carefully and rigorously going by the book and to a certain extent suspending notions of what is fair and reasonable. First you do everything by the book, only then can you apply commonsense.

I am not going to type anything here about a Burnley director that would get this MB into trouble but this whole thing smacks of emotions and gut reactions, a lack of cool judgement and not being sensible by talking to lawyers before the damage was done which, let's say, is commonly known to be not entirely out of character.

I don't think Coyle has put a foot wrong in his handling of this thing and as far as I can tell there is absolutely nothing in the press that is either attributed to him nor is there anything that only he, uniquely could have known.

I think most of your guesses Rev are likely to be well wide of the mark, particularly when you talk of Coyle retaliating through nicko. Coyle has nothing to retaliate about- the way Burnley have handled this has seemingly strengthened his situation at every turn and I am not surprised that he got his release to enter into a contract with Bolton this afternoon. Lets see this time next year if the dingles received £3.6m; their accounts are sufficiently small for it to be easy to spot if they got it and also to work out if it is not there.

On a lighter note, I saw this on Clarets Mad:

PLEASE HELP US WITH THE MODERATING ClaretsMadMods 04 Jan 22:24

USA Blue has no doubt already offered....

Willing to offer my services as Manager too.

I know the Blackburn-Bolton rivalry is nil at the best of times. But does this mean that there is a kind of 'friendship'between us? They still love Big Sam and we like Coyle for (hopefully) leaving Burnley in the shizzle!

Sorry it's off topic but I dont know anyone who cares about Bolton either way.

I think, the Burnley fans are clearly over reacting. I know he was highly thought of as a manager, but this is football and there are no guarantees in football. I think the fact that Coyle being a good manager, at a club with no financial backing and that will hardly win anything were bound to end in tears.
